Hopefully all will be ok with your orchids! The flowers of the second one look so fragile but lasting so long! Oh! It is so nice! Thank you for sharing of video!
Such Beautiful nobiliors ! Now I "want" one of the polyploids too. Stephen, Here in Memphis we got hit Hard by that same Cold Front / Ice Storm ! Knocked out the Entire City's Power Grid & left us w/o electricity for 5 DAYS !! Thankfully all of my collection is indoors under lights during the Winter.. but.. I only had a 4 burner Gas Stove to keep everything from freezing. We got down to 17 degrees & stayed around mid-20's most of the week. Kept all Orchids DRY (even my Vandas) . keeping fingers crossed.
I have to say that I really love the blooms on the glauca. They look so clean and fresh. The polilpoid is gorgeous also. 🤞 hope they do good through the cold.
Your glauca looks amazing! My glauca ‘Woltman’ is now blooming for the first time under LED lights (spiderfarmer 2000 model). The scent is unbeatable and much stronger than Rl. Aristocrat. Grows pretty fast, too.
So far so good! I just checked my SensorPush from the comfort of my bed and all is well in the greenhouse! We’ll get one more hard freeze tomorrow and then continue a slow journey back to more seasonable temps.
Thank you for the tip on the glauca. I will try more light to get my plant going. The new growths keep getting weaker and weaker. Hope all goes well with the incoming cold front. I always feel so silly freaking out about my temps dropping into the 30s when I hear all of what others are dealing with out there. Good luck.
Interesting video as always. It sure is cold there and a real worry. I don’t think I can provide enough light for the glauca since living north my orchids are only outside May through October (if the weather cooperates!), so I’ll enjoy yours! The second nobilior is Interesting in that the blooms differ from last year. On its own it’s very nice but next to the polyploid it is a little less impressive! Thanks for, sharing.
I had no idea you had such cold weather in Texas. Here in Lisbon, Portugal we've had 2 night of 5º C and now it's moving upwards to 8º or 9º. Best of luck!
That Rhyncholaelia is life haha. Mine is of course much smaller but it's growing several pseudobulbs a year and I have a blind sheath - so that's a great sign! Maybe next year I will have blooms. I have mine directly under the light next to the walkeriana. I have a nobilior rubra x something else haha but there is no sign of excess pigment on the bulbs or in the root tips. Should get enough light to develop that. But comparing to yours I guess mine has 2-3 years to go for its first bloom. Hope the cold front is gonna pass with no issues. (Also the beard looks good on you!)
Thanks! First time I’ve ever grown facial hair, so it’s kind of an experiment! So far, the greenhouse has held up! Adding plastic around the top of the greenhouse really made a huge difference. Without that insulation I would never have been able to keep the plants outside.
Are the wider petals typical for the polyploid nobilior or that is just a product of the breeding line? My lueddemanniana are about finished, but boy did they stink up the garage when I had to move all the plants in. Fingers crossed my mossiae will start filling its sheaths soon.
I'm pretty both coeruleas (diploid, polyploid) are from the same breeding program, so yes, the wider petals typical for the polyploid nobiliors. I'm excited for the upcoming luedde stink!!
I don't know Steve it keeps cutting off before the live streem is over anyways I want to how much you would sell a four bulb pice of glauca for? Thinking of getting one from Chadwick's but their $75 for four bulbs what do you think is a non awarded unnamed cultivar of glauca should cost
Very good update, l did not know you you ex perience such cold weather, father god will keep your plants, thanks for sharing,
Yes, it gets cold here! Not for long, but long enough to make us worry!
Hopefully all will be ok with your orchids! The flowers of the second one look so fragile but lasting so long! Oh! It is so nice! Thank you for sharing of video!
The temperature held last night, which is the coldest of the season. So far so good!
Both are spectacular!
😃😃

Oh wow! I’m sorry to hear that!! No power for 5 days in a storm like hay is a looong time. I’m glad you and your orchids made it though!
I have to say that I really love the blooms on the glauca. They look so clean and fresh. The polilpoid is gorgeous also. 🤞 hope they do good through the cold.
Thank you! We’ll see how they fare overnight.

Yes, the scent of these species are better than the hybrid!
I hope your orchids are doing well and that you did not have any mishap during that cold blast. Our freeze warning ends tomorrow morning… RGV!

The polyploid really dwarfs the diploid!!

Oh, 5C sounds amazing right now!

@@SVKLOrchids Nice! So glad you could protect the plants. They're just too precious to loose them
@@MattbyNature I agree!
Waiting for beginning.
well done man !! in my experience rhyncolaelias are very slow growers are you sure it made such groth in one year??
Oh ya, they grow fast for me!
Goodness, that's cold 🥶!!! You have a nice cosy bubble for them. How warm will you be able to keep them in there?
So far we’ve only dropped to 52F. I added another heater in there so hopefully that helps. The really cold weather is tonight tho 😬😬
@@SVKLOrchids Good luck 🤞
@@FernandaNascimentoOrchids so far, so good!

Nice update, thank you. How cool do you think nobilior can go?
I’ve had them get close to freezing before. No problem if they’re dry and the duration is short.
Into the beard! :)
Ha! Indeed!

I think that $75 for a 4 bulb division is a bit steep for an unawarded cultivar! I'd pass!
Ok thanks for your advice😁
@@carmellacarey3553 no problem!
