- ESPN FC’s Gab Marcotti takes on Steve Nicol, Janusz Michallik and Dan Thomas in a lively debate about Chelsea’s outlook in the Premier League next season after the departure of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid. I'm not too worried, but the way we're doing things has to change now that we don't have Hazard to rely on. Sell Willian. Pedro and Pulisic start, CHO and Pulisic when CHO comes back from injury, Pedro becomes an impact sub. Reece James HAS to be good enough to push Dave out at RB, Dave goes back to CB. Hopefully we'll get to bring in Kovacic permanently, but I'm not holding my breath. Sell Barkley, Drinkwater, and all the other dead weight. Kante back to CDM where he belongs. Best we can realistically hope for is 4th, but even that's a looooooong stretch.
As an Everton fan I gotta say Chelsea are going to be fine, even just Everton you could call back Zouma who is a great defender. Chelsea have a shit ton of loan players out there and yes the argument is none can be Hazard but why do they need to be? They no longer have a single striker to rely on and maybe that'll build confidence through out the team because they're now a team, not Hazard FC.

Tammy popped in 25 in the Championship and proved he could hold up play and Mason Mount was crucial for Derby. Musonda looks like he's recovering well and was showing promise at Celtic until he go hurt.

Why is it only Gab not hitting the panic button??? Man United is a dumpster fire. Arsenal are run by Stan Kroenke and Tottenham may get their starting 11 decimated in a bad window. So Chelsea will not be as strong clearly without a top 10 player in the world. But its still a team game right? They can and will finish no worse than in the Europa League position end of next year

I would have been more concerned about the managerial problems as it won't be a walk in the park for any new manager with the transfer ban...chelsea do need to fix some of the positions and find missing pieces to challenge for the top again without one of the best players..but Tottenham,arsenal and united are also in deep troubles...

I'm ok with a low finish if it means more youth. We can't just buy. I know Liverpool and Manchester City get results, but I don't see why we can't do something similar with youth players. I mean, we literally have some of the best. Besides, if we need a player or two, we can always buy. But if we buy, we need to go all out and not buy giroud for 25 million to be our starting striker when our biggest problem is goals.

With Ole at least, the players stopped receiving support from the fans because we’ve been throwing it completely at Ole and all the players are done hiding. Hopefully, the new young no-name cheap transfer policy will get us quality players along with quantity. I’m very excited for Daniel James and I hope we sign more. If this still doesn’t work, then the problem truly does run with the board like it always has because Woodward and Glazers are at the wheel and they don’t know what they’re doing to this club

As a Chelsea fan I'm very confident about our chances of actually winning the league. We will be underestimated and now the focus will be based on the team not one player. Hazard was amazing don't get me wrong. But as a Chelsea fan no others players used to get credit or the lime light it was always hazard which must of been demoralising to not be appreciated or mentioned about a good performance. I believe we will become a stronger team with a different approach. We have 41 players out on and I know 6 that I would have in the team. I'm a Chelsea fan and I'm not concerned at all. CAS appeal aside, the squad is decent enough to compete. Bring in the kids, blood them in the team, we got Champions League, we got money in the bank... People forget Sarri was almost sacked after the City mauling. Dan and Stevie are overreacting. They bought Pulisic who isn't just a marketing player as many haters want to call him, he has potential and looks just like Hazard when he moved from Lille - similar acceleration and dribbling skills, just needs to polish up his finishing touch in the final third when shooting on goal. Hudson-Odoi's contract will be extended and he was the second best winger after Hazard so right there you have two very promising wingers playing on both flanks who can match or possibly supersede Hazard's contribution of 15 goals and 15 assists from last season. The midfield needs to be strengthened in 1 or 2 positions but the defense is solid - filled with a lot of depth. The only issue that's truly worrying right now for Chelsea is the striker position.

I'm a Chelsea fan. I'm NOT worried, we can change formation, we can change personnel. Tammy is insane and brining him into the first team could be a huge pro. Odoi needs time to be like Hazard, Pulisic can give the service a typical #9 needs and Giroud is underated asf, Tammy could work with him up top. I'm looking for a solid season with the team finally giving young players a go. Salah, KDB, Lukaku all players we let go from our youth set up, there has to be a few gems lurking in there right now! (I know Lukaku isn't insane as of recent but he has insane potential we all know this)

Even though it doesn't look particularly good for Chelsea atm, what I will say is that Chelsea are resilient, they never go away. They've handled their big name players leaving before, their track record tends to have me side on them being alright. HOWEVER, this allllllllll depends on the quality of manager they bring in.

A bigger problem than Hazard leaving is the fact Higuain, Giroud, Pedro, and Luiz are ALL over 31 years old now. Still, they have a hell of a lot of players on loan, including Tammy Abraham, who looks decent.
