Ive been HIV+ for roughly 23 years now (treatment for about 20 of those years) and I switched to DOVATO about 2 years ago from BIKTAVI and i gotta say I'm so glad i did.... dropped 20kg that I'd put on with BIKTAVI within the first couple of months back down to my regular 73 to 75kg... my mood improved and i regained my sex drive..... One thing I am noticing on DOVATO however is increased joint inflammation ( maybe I'm just getting older lol)... all in all i can't complain I think it was the right decision to switch
Who is on multiple tablets for HIV today. ?!. Most people living with HIV today take 1 tablets. I'm on Biktarvy but considering switching changing to Dovato. The only advantage I can see is contains only 2 drugs.
a lot of patients are on more than 1 pill once a day for HIV. we see that in clinic all the time. Entire population with HIV-2 virus take multiple pills daily.
Wow that is a very unfortunate set of infections. I would follow the BHIVA guidelines and go for 2 NRTIs (one should be Tenofovir) once daily + protease inhibitors (Twice daily) if tolerated. In the real world doctors, pharmacists and virologists would sit down as a multidisciplinary team and come up with an appropriate ARV combination. This is the standard practice in the UK. Hope this is helpful 🙏🏽
@@Changeyourhabits30 resistance only Happens if you don’t take your medication correctly or on time. As long as you take your meds daily, you’ll be fine. Life expectancy should be near normal if you maintain an overall healthy lifestyle i.e eat healthy, exercise, and avoid drinking and smoking. 🙌🏽
Hi, It’s been effective for me, my last test was undetectable and I have another test in July to see if I’m still undetectable. I’ve not been on Triumeq before, but Dovato is one tablet that you can take with or without food. When I take a multivitamin, I take it about 4hours after taking Dovato. Hope that answers your question 😊
Yes Dovato is effective against HIV. Triumeq is a three drug combination but still one tablet once a day. Your blood tests will decide if it’s appropriate for you or not.
Hi There, Biktarvy has three drugs and Dovato has two. Both are effective against HIV. However your blood tests will ultimately determine which one of the two is appropriate for you!👍🏽

I was diagnosed a year with having HIV. I was put on a triple combination therapy, however it was affecting my Kidney’s, Cholesterol and made me gain weight, plus constant nausea for a couple of months, acid reflux, increased blood pressure and elevated heart rate. After being undetectable for 6 months I was switched to Dovato. My blood pressure and heart rate returned to normal within a couple of days, the nausea and acid reflux stopped. I initially had insomnia and a low mood, but after a couple of weeks it had corrected itself. When I was on my first treatment I started exercising and altered my diet to loose weight, however it didn’t work. Since being on Dovato, I’ve maintained my diet and exercise and lost 1.5stone so far. Overall I physically feel so much better on Dovato. What’s the risk of developing resistance to Dovato if fully adhering to the medication? I’m quite strict with my meds, taking them within half an hour of my usual time and haven’t missed a dose.
First of all congratulations for all the hard work you are doing putting your health first!👏🏽👏🏽 Secondly if you are adherent to your medication and take it roughly same time everyday, you won’t develop resistance to it. Keep up the good work! 👊🏽
@@AbhishekkatiyarYT thank you for your reply, that’s reassuring to know about not developing resistance. I much prefer being on Dovato, plus the bonus of it being two medications instead of three is less impactful on the body overall, so I’ll do everything I can to reduce the risk of resistance. Still learning a lot after a year. Turns out I’m a Longterm Slow Progresser. Will be interesting to see how treatments develop over the coming years
@@phil84761 Great to hear. Pipeline of new drugs suggests focus is being shifted from taking daily meds to weekly, monthly, two monthly and even 6 monthly meds. watch the space!
