- Home Voice Over Studio Setup For Beginners
In this video, I show you a home voice over studio setup using the Rode NT1-A large diaphragm microphone and the Kaotica Eyeball.
The whole objective a beginner should have when starting their studio is to get rid of unwanted reverb and noise.

(Kaotica has realeased new products, including front address eyeballs. This is awesome!)
This setup is inexpensive and helps with that.

I saw a video where they did a comparison of the audio and the Rode NT1-4th Gen had a lower resonance. They person said it could be better if you don't have a acoustically treated room since the NT1A would pick up more subtle noises.
Hi Anthony! Great video. I’m absolutely interested in this product. Would you be able to do a short video on how well this product works? Possibly do a short VO without it on and then another with it on? Would love to see the big difference in sound, if it does work, before I buy it. Enjoy all your videos and subscribed to your channel.
Thank you so much Sir , newbie voiceover artist here
An A-B comparison would be great
Thank you so much for this I literally have this in my amazon cart!
Would have loved more elaboration on the plugs, cables and stands needed to complete the set-up.
I just bought that exact Rode mic. I am looking forward to getting it all set up and going!
Nice 👍 keep me posted on how it’s going
@@AVOsJOURNEY I could probably send you a DM about it. Let me know if you're okay with it.
Can a shotgun mic do the job of the eyeball?I wish you’ll make a video on a complete instrument setup. I saw one from booth junkie, just that his were kinda expensive.
I believe that they have added different ones to the mix, but I am not sure if there is one for the shotgun mic. I will have to take a look :)
Hi Anthony! As always thanks for the awesome tips.🙏🏾
My pleasure!
A Yeti in the instagram post the other day. Now my EYEBALL! Stop breakin' into my studio, man! :D That's funny. But, popular as those 2 pieces of equipment are, I wonder how many vo's rock that combo.
Does that work for a Yeti also? I have a somewhat treated recording area but there is always room to make it better.
Waiting for the much cheaper alternative to the kaotica with the Alctron pf8 to arrive in a few weeks...will be using it with a new rode NT-1 in a treated space to see what difference it makes. I noticed that you’re really close to the mic and I’m curious - is that how close you always get when you’re recording or just with this set up?
Question, would the chaotic eyeball work with any microphone? or would I need a specific microphone?
My first professional mix was the NT1A . If you want to call it professional. It was a pretty good sounding mic imo
this is the first video i have seen. great tips! going to see the older videos now.
Thanks for the tip Anthony.
Hi :) So, I have literally no money and I'm auditioning for voicework. My first sample was rejected because of echo problems (that I can't quite work out) and background noise (that I was sure I accounted for). I guess there's nothing I can do to save this?
Hello! Thank you for all of your great videos!! I look forward to taking the course when I have the funds
I was wondering if I could use high density foam to line my space (preferably egg carton type). Any drawbacks to this? Thank you in advance for any suggestions you might have
Hi Anthony. I love your videos. I've learned a bunch from you. I just bought the Kaotica Eyeball, and it arrived today. I recorded some with it, but I have one question- do I still use the other pop filter that I have previously used on my mic in addition to the eyeball? I thought that the eyeball had a pop filter on it as well. I look forward to hear from you.
You can do either. I ended up using both sometimes because I was so close but that is probably because I was taught to project as a stage actor and early on in my voice over career I hadn't mastered it yet.
@@AVOsJOURNEY you CLEARLY have NO CLUE on what you’re talking about. Here is proof

PVC Pipe Hobo booth is my was to go
Where did you purchase the equipment at???
Don't laugh. I have a Berhinger XM500 mic on a desk stand. What if I took a foamy acoustic room treatment tile and wrapped it around the mic like an ice cream cone? The open part of the cone would extend a few inches from the end of the mic to cut down on reverb. Worth a try?
Do you have any tips for sound proofing a room?
I don’t have a closet to record in and my room has 2 windows as well as a door to the outside, so there’s quite allot of background noise from the outside that makes it difficult to record professionally
Do you any recorded examples of raw audio no f/x from your Appollo?
I often use raw when I record character work
Putting out daily videos how do you keep coming up with content ideas ? Man that would be tough . On top of all of your VO jobs / coaching / etc . How do you do it man? Lol
Lots of coffee :) no, just love doing this. It’s easier when you love it as much as I do and the people make it worth while
Hi Anthony how did you adhere your studio foam in your whisper room? Did you use double sided Velcro tape? Glue? Or the clamps?
I use acoustic spray glue that works pretty well! 😀
$600 is cheap? I'm looking for under $100 I can hook up to my Chromebook. If I could make some money on Fiver I could quickly upgrade but for now cash flow is a problem.
I think we all start at a different budget, no doubt. Just remember, in the end, it is a business :)
just found an audio app for android called audio evolution mobile. it is a $15 program if you want to use a USB mic (Blue yeti X). I am connecting it to my samsung tablet, but have found that it may work on chromebook as well. if I use my chrome book, the total cost of my set up would be about $325, and using my closet with sleeping bags for sound dampening until I can afford something better with the proceeds of my VO. that's the hope anyway.
Hello there...hope all is well. Well here's my story. I completed a book on ACX, and it was approved by the Rights Holder. Two days later it was canceled!!! I contacted ACX, and was told that the person claiming to be the rights holder was not the rights holder. The person I spoke to at ACX is saying this is now becoming a prevalent problem...has anyone run into this problem. Please respond!!!
I am so sorry that happened. Yes, I have heard of this happening. Some people have gone as far as to send ACX a message to see if the rights holder is actually the rights holder.
this is a waste of money because this does not stop background noise in a room that is not treated. It's cheaper to use a walk in closet and a walk in closest is better at keeping noise out.
It really is all about treating a room. There's a lot of vo "miracle" products out there that are ripoffs
your voice sounds over processed
Thanks for the feedback :)
