Props on filming in ZELLERS. Thank you Emily Haines/Last Gang Records for being a part of making Canadian music fresh again. I have a huge amount of respect for what the record label is trying to do for Canadian music (I am forever in debt).
I have been trying to find this music for over a decade now. I've had dreams about it. And I finally fuc×ing found it!!!!! ❤ you have no idea how happy this makes me! ❤
I really love this whole album. I got it as a gift and listen to it all the time. Emily is beautiful....I have a big crush on her but shhh, don't tell anyone internet.
For years (~15 or so ) I have been looking for this song, heard first it on a movie about clowns I believe (?) It was one of the first lyrics I for which i started to hear this kind of soft - low - melancholic music
I always feel like crying when I finally find a song I've been looking for for years lol. I used to listen to this band when I was in primary school and heard almost all their songs...it's been a while since I listened to them. I'm even in university now🥴
its funny, i get that exact same feeling whenever im in a department store - theres this bizarre, overwhelming sense of suffocation and death. lives leading nowhere but round the next corner, toward the next purchase. i cant even go to the mall, its too much.
I was 5 years old when you posted this comment lol. anyways it’s probably bc you can sense the children that are manufacturing this product and dying from stress and being overworked to death.
that is exactly related to the comment I was about to make. I love the atmosphere of this video and there is definitely a weird feeling one can get by watching this video. I was wondering if anyone knew any other videos with this atmosphere. Music videos or movies.
Kind of funny how easy it is to make a modern day department store look dystopian just by playing a song in a minor key while showing you around the store 😅
This song and video is about the use and, subsequent misuse, of prescription medications. Everybody falling like dominoes ended up dabbling, yet no one ever notices. Because the prescriptions are always there. Others sold them for a wage, yet still ends up in the line falling like a domino.
Actually, according to Emily herself, it's about her (former?) crippling fear and anxiety of going into all-night pharmacies at night. The song itself might be what you said (the lyrics don't support the fear angle), but Emily was interviewed about the video and gave the anxiety angle as the inspiration for the video.
Now thats unfair. We don't have a Zellers in Scotland to play people dominos in...Oh well Asda will have to do. Got to say I really love this song though.
The song is about the abuse of prescription meds. Video says this by implying everyone from doc to pharmacist to everyone who willing takes them are ALL to blame (that's why she's knocking em down like dominoes."
If you knock somebody down who's at the front of a line, people will fall down like dominoes. And you better run the hell out of there, cuz it will be frightening. :)
@DiniGabbyFan The queensberry version is more similar to the original Metric version. Personally, I find the Queensberry version sucks all the meaning out of it.
15 years. Wow. Still fresh.
Props on filming in ZELLERS.

After several years, hare I am. Still love the song.
I actually think this video enhances the song, which is so rare.
Imagine finding out that your favorite band’s side project is somehow even better than their already incredible music.
She’s truly the best
I am still asking myself if I love Metric or do I just love Emily Haines
WHOS HERE IN 2020?

She's gorgeous. And her songwriting makes me cry... amazing voice, amazing talent.

She has such a cool voice. I love it. I can't help listening to her songs over and over.
For years (~15 or so ) I have been looking for this song, heard first it on a movie about clowns I believe (?)

Depressing song + most depressing place to shop in the universe = solid video skillz
Love and appreciate this album a lot but it’s mega depressing if you want it to be.
Ohhhh Her voice is heavenly
This song and video will always be so nostalgic to me. 💖
this song is just perfect... first time hearing and looping for a long time...
This is the anthem of the opioid crisis

I feel like that everytime I'm in target.

This is a great video, maybe not as great as Our Hell, but excellent nonetheless.
I have a purse like that...
hermunge! lol, nice name
You were ahead of your time.
Club Zed points...OF DOOM!
I hate when you're just going in for some tylenol and then this happens.
haha, that guy fell down in the womens underware section
you play people dominos in zellers??
@DiniGabbyFan The queensberry version is more similar to the original Metric version. Personally, I find the Queensberry version sucks all the meaning out of it.
...
wouldnt that hurt??
Not if you have someone good to fall into. Haha.
hahahaha
Seriously I'm pretty sure that's a Zellers, lol.
"GREAT BRANDS GREAT PRICES" above the door when she comes in. Definitely a Zellers. Emily is Canadian after all, and Zellers is a piece of Canadiana.
You obviously have lots of anger o_O
You should talk to someone about that...
Antipsiquiatría
i declare. it's cheating to make songs under drugs. it just is. i declare and i am right.
awesome song, wack video...
Another generation 🙄 over prescribed...
I prefer the version by Queensberry
@thecharismaticvoice I think you’d appreciate this
