Makar is probably a 88 so he doesn’t grow to fast in franchise mode. A lot of young players have lower overalls for that reason otherwise they’d be a 95 in year 2
Thanks bruh! And thats a concept that has been around for a while in the game! Players that have like 1 or 2 seasons under their belt usually are rated lower than what they are cause they wait until the player kinda "proves himself" if u undertand what im tryna say😅😅

Players are not supposed to be lower rated because they are too good in franchise mode. There is no reason for it.
1. A Ovr rating is about how good the player is in real life.
2. Most of the time ovr doesnt really matter since in franchise sims a 90 is similliar to a 95 since mcdavid never wins the art ross
3. Makar is top 2 defenseman in this league.
4. The game doesnt work anyway so it doesnt matter.
As a video game this makes sense but like have you seen the kid? He /is/ a 95 in year 2

92-93 at least. EA doesn't rate people stupidly high. It's a hard rating system
Pretty sure Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe and Norris Trophy winning Cale Makar will be MUCH higher than an 88 for NHL 23

A 99 player should have Lidström defence, Gretzky offence, McDavid skating, Ovechkin shot, Cogliano durability, Kane stickhandling, Datsyuk puck control, Byfuglien bodychecking and so on...
I have only seen highlights from Matthews and I can see he is really good offensively. But what else does he have that should rank him above 92?

Makar will win it this year. Last year Fox won because he had a spectacular year on the Rangers, who aren’t near as good as Colorado. Same thing as Vasy, their both underrated because of how good their team is.

@@guz6396 what he was trying to say was probably that even 87 would be to high rating for him. In the olympics 2014 he was really good though. But that is history now and I agree 90 is not very accurate.

@@anthonypham7563 He does? I have not watched many Kings games lately so I can't tell. But in the Sochi olympics he looked so dynamic, fast and smart. And since I am from Sweden I did not like when he stepped on the ice. Sure we had a prime Erik Karlsson but Doughty was a beast defensively, which can't be said about Karlsson.
You know their ratings suck, when all the players disagree with it. Doughty lower. Matthews and Makar higher.

I’ve actually really liked how they’ve done ratings in the nhl games. Guys can grow into 99s in franchise, sure, but a 99 in an nhl games feels a lot more special than a 99 in like madden.

This is a huge difference. NFL players say they should be 99 or 98, when they obviously are not. They always "quess" too high. NHL players are humble and almost always guess too low. And seem honest.
