I wasn't set on homeschooling when I had kids. Flexibility is why I wanted to homeschool in the end. My family is 2 hours away and I wanted to be able to visit on a weekday if I wanted. I also don't like going places when it's super busy so by homeschooling we can go places while the school kids are in school. It was great that we were already homeschooling when the cooties hit.
Here in West Virginia we are required to administer a standardized test yearly and report results in 3rd, 5th, 8th, and 11th grades. I hate it but I guess it's worth it to be able to educate my son the best way for us.
