I went to public school and graduated from college I never thought I would homeschool but after years of my severely dyslexic son not getting the help that he needed despite all of my efforts to work with the school I I pulled my son when he was in fourth grade and it was the best decision our family could have ever made.
One of the biggest myths that I had to deal with while homeschooling was that my children were missing out on socialization but when my kids interacted in the community we were out at stores wherever people would actually comment on how well mannered my kids were and how they seemed to be so socially developed and when I said oh they're homeschooled the look on people's faces was priceless because they couldn't even believe it.
I must say I socialise more now as an autistic adult then I did in school. Ok I still don’t always have eye contact and especially don’t with strangers. But even when I was in school, I remember my best friend saying one day that was I listening to her as I was looking at her shoes…. I was listening and repeated back what she said word for word… shocked her. I said I listen better if i focus on shoes/ hands… looking face to face Mackey me see what’s going on behind that person and at school that’s not a lot of good in my experience. I didn’t have good experiences. But I’m 34 now it’s it’s well over and a waste of time as I can’t get a job due to my disabilities. That was the hardest thing for me to accept. That all the struggles I went through were for nothing. As I will always live life as a disabled person taking benefits to get through life. I will never give anything back to help others… as I’m not able to. Not on my bad days, and that’s weekly and so I’m unreliable etc etc etc…. And I fully understand that as an employer. But would think I’m this day and age it shouldn’t be like that. Lol Anyways I’m really interested in your content, even tho I live in the uk and don’t have children. I’m glad to find something to keep my mind ticking. Thanks
It’s hard to function in our society as an autistic person. I am autistic too and can very much relate ❤️ My entire family is neurodivergent in some capacity, and homeschooling has been SO amazing for us all. We live so outside the box in all parts of our life because the box definitely wasn’t made for us 🤣 I am glad you are here! Even at 34, you can start homeschooling yourself - seriously, I feel like I could say I homeschool myself now as an adult😅
So excited for your new channel!

The extreme misunderstanding that kids can only be socialized in school is almost comical 😄
