"You might be sleeping more than you THINK you are!" Boy, is that true. I've been a bad sleeper for years, and that was before my lupus diagnosis. I've had....three?...sleep studies. And something that they all showed, and my husband reports, too, is that I'm sleeping when I think I'm not. Also a psych doc that I'm friends with, who has supervised sleep studies: lots of folks are actually sleeping when they think they are still "staring at the ceiling..." and that stress makes the whole insomnia cycle a bunch worse. Thanks for these ideas/suggestions. Super helpful.

This is such an encouraging and gentle video. Thank you for your uplifting words. I do not have a diagnosis yet, but I may be getting closer. I've had chronic fatigue basically all of my life and for me the FOMO is unbelievable. It's nice to hear someone advocate for letting your body tell you what it needs rather than giving into pressure and embarrassment.

Just got back from a 2 week trip to Europe and I know my energy is going to need some assistance as I ease back in to day-to-day life. One tip I would add is staying hydrated. A glass of water always seems to boost my energy! Love this video. Thank you for the care that you put into each one your create.

I have fibromyalgia and when I have a flare or when I have fatigue in general, I put on ABBA. I call it Swedish Seratonin. And it's highly effective, especially when combining it to sort of dancing around in my desk chair or car seat. It gets my body moving and takes my mind off the pain, both of which are helpful!

Walks and a low-glycemic diet have greatly improved my energy when I can get in the groove of doing them regularly.🤩 *THANK YOU for normalizing accommodations for disabilities.* Inclusivity is healing, and it's so true that *everyone* can benefit from learning to recognize and honor when we need a break. *Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.* : - ) ❤

Here's how I get 1 hour of sleep in 10 minutes: lying in bed, covered/sitting, 1. contract+relax the muscles of each segment of the body, from toes to head (especially the facial muscles).
    2. With my eyes closed, I describe in detail everything I see/hear, in fact everything I perceive through the 5 senses, out loud (in the first sessions), using verbs in the present tense. (Point 2. is called image flow (described in the book "The Einstein Factor" by Wyn Winger & Richard Poe)). It works on some days, on others - there are other methods (we keep a whole list of them!)

I really loved all of these tips, especially the part about advocating for yourself when you need to take a break or leave. I associate that with those "go go go" days when things can really feel overwhelming. On the other side of the coin, I have also found that sometimes gently encouraging myself to keep going can also be useful for my energy. I find that it's really easy for me to say that I need rest, but then kind of fall into a slump. Basically I'm trying to recognize when I've had the rest I need and I'm ready to move on to something different. Sometimes just promising myself I'll spend 5 minutes on something leads to me realizing I have more energy than I thought I did. It also helps to approach these moments and tasks with mindfulness (moving slow, enjoying the process, not doing 5 other things at the same time).

I also relate with that. For my part I think it’s because of ADHD. I want to do all the things! But then I sit down for a while and energy is coming back ☺️

Yes, sleep is difficult. I am going for a sleep consultation soon hopefully. I have difficulty breathing at night.
Tend to get tired quickly. I do a lot around the house because a lot is expected of me. I then try to spend any time to do for myself. It causes overwhelming circumstances and I get drained.
My actions aren't directly based on FOMO. I tend to make my own decisions despite influenced or outward forces.
I don't like coffee and find it disgusting.

This was such an informative video, thank you!
I still struggle with being okay to take breaks. I also fear that when I have a low point at 1 or 4 pm that there won't be any energy for the rest of the day (which is rarely the case). I am working on both things.
I want to add something about coffee cnsumption, that I already commented on your morning video: Drink your coffee 90 minutes or two hours after you wake up. The effect will be much greater and you won't crash in the middle of the day. It has something to do with melatonin still blocking the receptors in the morning as well as cortisol levels. Look it up or just try it out. This biohack changed my life.

What a beautiful video. I would mention about the 2nd point you bring up, that people with a giving nature tend to define their approach toward people and life based on giving and keeping to their commitments. The art in this, is to recognize when you've reached your reasonable boundary and learn that guilt or even feeling bad about backing up; has no place in that exchange. That might mean that you have to "cull" your friend and acquaintance groups to those who can accept that, no matter what your health status, age or situation. Some people can accept your mindfulness but others, who can't; might have to move on. And that simply the way of it.
About spending time on things you enjoy (Point #3) - I've always tried to make sure that I'm planning in those activities I enjoy each day; to the tune of 90+%. It took years to build up to that high percentage but I was mindful. If I have to accomplish something I'm not in the mood to do, I try to break it down into bite-sized pieces; so that I only take on so much of it; per day. Then I surround myself with really positive experiences for the rest of the day. I started this by insisting that I account for 51% at the start and now, after so many years; I'm at 90%+. Its a life practice worth doing and helps me find that little extra "boost" if I should feel myself wearing out.

Thank you for all of your great videos! I’m only halfway thru so not sure if it’s in here, but My BEST tip for anyone looking for more energy is - A gluten free diet. I don’t know of anyone who has tried it and not reported more energy, even if they have no other signs of gluten intolerance.
(Obviously so good for MS also) ❤️❤️❤️

Lovely video; thank you Elin. I think it's wonderful that you ask for help when you need it; that is so important, to conserve your energy. I think it's a good idea to develop self-awareness around these issues and to both listen to your body as well as honour what your body is telling you (& act accordingly). Sometimes I find that splashing the back of my neck with cold water (as well as my face) is a wonderful pick-me-up. When the weather is very hot, I put a wet flannel in the freezer, then get it out and apply it to the back of my neck. Wonderful!!! I live in the UK, so no air con here to keep us cool in summer!

I subscribed to you a while back and my chronic fatigue syndrome as thought turned out to be MS during a recent bad flare with residual ataxia. I relate to so much of what you shared and it’s so very helpful. I just got a scooter and plan to use the wheelchair assistance in airports. I got the handicap tag for the car finally. Thank you!❤❤❤

I really want to encourage you to embrace using a wheelchair when you need it. I know it can feel weird to be an ambulatory wheelchair user. If you use a wheelchair on days that you know you will be more symptomatic without one, your quality of life will vastly improve
