This is the type of bridge that you’re looking up into the air on an incline as you climb it with water all around and low shoulders and this was my first solo trip in a semi. Most truckers will try to get inside lanes unless you’re forced to ride the shoulder. Also on the east coast in West Virginia, North Carolina they have some adventures for thrill seekers. They have areas around mountains that are single lanes overextended that’s really a single lane that will have you squeezing cheeks pause. I've been told I could have fought this ticket cuz the other side of the bridge (from the sign) is a different police jurisdiction. Not sure about that, but it IS a (#*@!) speed trap!
Louisiana is not really known for maintaining infrastructure all that well so not really surprised but it must be built well it survived quite a few big hurricanes or it’s just been very lucky

Yes, Louisiana’s highways are in pretty poor condition. Louisiana has probably the highest percentage of elevated highways-the most expensive to build and maintain-so it is understandable. Also, highway funds come from fuel taxes, which are impacted by increased fuel efficiency and the proliferation of electric vehicles. That revenue has been steadily declining, while costs have skyrocketed.
I can understand the comments but trust me when I say that Ny has some of the worst bridges in the U.S. pucker factor is negative zero driving over some of Ny bridges. I’m about to drive over it next month and I can’t wait!
I live in Lake Charles. A 18 wheeler went through the rails on the Lake Charles side and landed near the boat ramp on the North side. The driver didn't survive.

Aside from the lack of shoulders, why is this scary?

I always go out of my way to avoid the I-10 Bridge. I always take the 210 Bridge.
Driven over every bridge on I-10 from the Sabine to the Little Pearl. Multiple times. This one's rough, but not the worst.
That feeling of "maybe i should wait till the other car makes it over"
It does need some TLC but you get a beautiful view from the top .
One of the most dangerous bridges in the USA, I grew up in Lake Charles left in 1991 and would not move back bad memories.
Would be nice if they fixed it but seams to be the lowest priority for them
@@Livetruckingwithjim Louisiana is one of the poorest states, I remember as a kid in the 80’s I-10 being such a crappy highway.

I have never seen anything dangerous about it. You must not have crossed the Huey P. Long Bridge in New Orleans before they widened it.

We cannot afford it now. We have to support all of Biden's illegals.
Driven that one many times - HATE IT………!!!!!!!
Always breath a sigh of relief when I’m across………😂
Always an interesting drive over that one
Why? Nothing scary about it.
@@johnharris8191Probably because the guard rails are extremely low. A semi can easily tilt off or any vehicle for that matter.
As someone who drives over the I-10 bridge every day, all these hate comments are just over exaggerated.
Personally, I love the view from the top of the bridge, but that bridge does have a reputation of scaring the crap out of people
I couldn't agree more. I travel from Baton Rouge to Houston all the time and this bridge is the least of my concern.
I hate this bridge. It’s scary in a car but was way worse in a uhaul
I see no issue with this bridge but the old (before it was widened) Huey P. Long Bridge in New Orleans was nerve wrecking.

Tampa Bay Bridge- not my idea of fun.

That don't look bad at all from this truck driver cab. Thanks
It’s really not,,it’s just a little bit tight and a bit steep
I drove over it twice a day for 45 years. NBD. It does the job. It's NOT falling down.
TOTALLY. When they made the interstate system, they TOTALY should not have dulized the bridge so it didn’t fall apart.
Took this bridge driving to Houston, definitely not a fan
Definitely not a great bridge not my favorite drive
I had a major panic attack driving across this bridge several years ago. Never again!
I hated going over that bridge every time I went over it always tried to get top speed going in my slow company truck of 65 mph
Nice

For a bridge built 70 years ago, it looks almost double that.

Understandable
Built in 1952 has "52" standards definitely need some infrastructure. Bridges is becoming a huge issue these days
I think the falling apart is part of its charm

It was originally the US 90 bridge when it was built in the late 40s-early 50s. Louisiana is in the early stages of developing a replacement.

Thank you for staying in the right lane! Lots of trucks love clogging up both lanes, and it jams up traffic for hours every day. Tell your friends.
