I can currently control volume remotely with Google assistant as well but maybe the Sonos voice control will be easier to use. Privacy is definitely a plus.
I am a brand new Sonos system owner this week and a long time hold out on all things that are “smart home” with no experience at all using any “assistant” or anything even close other than occasionally getting frustrated with Siri on my iPhone. Seeing the option for Sonos instead of Google or Alexa got me searching online for comments like these. Of course here we are a year after most of the comments with me wondering as a newbie if they’ve delivered on any of their promises and whether or not all the bugs are ironed out. I’m going to read some more, but would appreciate any updated comments from anyone here or anyone new like me who has had good or bad experience with this Sonos system voice assistant.
Just want to add a slight correction as to when this will be available in the UK. From the Sonos forum, and from a Sonos member of staff = 'Sonos Voice Control will launch on June 1st worldwide, with US English being the supported language. This means you can enable and use it in the UK, but there may be accuracy issues with stronger accents.' So looks like we can use this in the UK from 1st June :)
@@smarthomesounds I hope so too. I have taken out a free months trial of Amazon music to test it with, as before, I only had my RUclips music subscription which won't work with the Sonos voice control.
I would really like to know what support Sonos is providing for controlling music in my local library by voice. Streaming makes up only a small percentage of my Sonos listening so local library support is the key to getting me interested in this new feature.
I will definitely use Sonos' own voice control. We have the Google assistent on our phones, so i don't see the benefit to have it on my Sonos speaker as well.
Hmmm. Have I missed something..?? All my Sonos equipment around the house is controlled using Alexa, I am trying to understand why I would use Sonos own voice control. No worries on privacy for me. No Tunein or BBC Sounds at launch - which as well as Amazon I use a lot. I will however stay open minded and try it out when it arrives to see where there are if any advantages.
Less lag and potentially less hassle with setting up rooms in the Amazon app. From what I've seen posted on reddit from beta testing, it may be a while before I consider trying out Sonos voice control (bugs).
ya it's not gonna be able to control smart home devices, it's more than likely just a nice feature if you subscribe to sonos HD music with. i see them only marketing it as a way to tell you what song is being played, probably won't even able to tell you news or weather.
Can you confirm what version of S2 is supporting this as I'm all updated to 14.8 Build 6832909 but the voice service option does not appear as at 13 June 22 (and I'm in New Zealand). I haven't enabled the Beta options...
I been using this (only) a couple of days and TBH I think its just as easy to ignore it and carry on using Alexa. I can't really see the point of it at all. Maybe my penny will drop one day but at the mo' to me at least its a case of the Emperor's new clothes. Sorry Sonos.
Having watched what must be 1000s of videos on RUclips, not once, has a presenter saying Alexa triggered one of my many Echo devices in the home. Just needless editing.
Hi Chris, thanks for letting us know as this is the first comment around that. Just so you are aware we’ve had hundreds of comments in previous videos when we didn’t do this so it’s all from feedback and not adding the edits would actually save us some time too. We will continue to monitor it 👍
Nope, unless it can control my IOT devices as well and not just sonos products. And the way they showed their ad, it seems to be more of a "Music voice assistant" which isn't useful at all to me. Bet it won't be able to tell you the weather, time and date wouldn't be able to even answer your first questions you ask at the beginning video lol idk what they doing... they ain't staying competitive with other companies with there "wireless home theatre system". Sony already caught up and is probably gonna take there future customers away... they should've tried to find a way to implement more speakers into our existing sonos ecosystem. Heck headphones or even a sonos remote would be better
The sonos voice sold me. He is my fav actor 🎉🎉🎉🎉 also i prefer “sonos, play music” than “alexa, play music in living room without tv”
yes will be using it
Big thanks for muting 'Alexa' in your video, that extra bit of consideration is appriciated!
Hey, Smart Home Sounds! Thank You!
I can currently control volume remotely with Google assistant as well but maybe the Sonos voice control will be easier to use. Privacy is definitely a plus.
I wish I shared that guy's enthusiasm.
Thanks for the video Mr. handsome !

Hopefully this is true and we can test it on the 1st of June.

A year ago I started a petition to ask amazon to allow us to replace hey Alexa with hey pumpkin. Hope sonos allows that.

Got exactly the same question. Want to have voice control of music on my NAS
Are there any plans to have Sonos voice control work with SiriusXM streaming service?
You can’t use spotify???
For my voice assistant voice I would want Morgan Freeman :)

@Abir Makkar I don't see why i should use Alexa when i'm using Google Assistent?
@Abir Makkar It's honestly the other way around, Google Assistant is miles smarter
@Abir Makkar that I will agree on
The killer feature I would like is to able to drop in to a Sonos in a different room. Without it I’ll stick with Alexa.

Edit - I found it on the mobile app - its not on the PC program
Who wouldn’t want Morgan Freeman’s dulcet tones?

Love the content and most definitely not the only channel that does it, just the first channel I decided to mention it.
