Thanks very heipful. I am trying to hookup a chromebook to my HP Laserjetpro MFP M 127fn which I was not able to connect by usb cable. I am wondering if this would via WiFi. The printer is not listed as compatible with chromebooks.
You're most welcome. Once you connect this printer with WIFI it "should" be seen as network printer by the Chromebook and it "should" allow you to connect it and print to it. A quick way to find out is to connect the printer using a LAN network cable to the router and seeing if the Chromebook see it and prints to it. Regardless of how the printer connects to the router (LAN cable or WIFI) the CB will see as a networked printer and "should" print to it regardless. Give a go with a network cable straight from the printer to the router. If it works then my solution will work too. I print to my printer using my android phone so it works with that though not the same as a CB. Thank you so much for commenting, watching and the very kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
Thanks Richard for taking the time to give your inciteful advice. I have tried as you suggested and indeed when I hooked the printer to the router by ethernet and set up printer on the network, both pc and my wife's chromebook were able to see it and print to it. So now I can buy an extender knowing it will work. My HP printer is so reliable I sure didn't want to replace it.
You're most welcome. My HP LaserJET MFP M426fdn is permanently connected in this fashion and it works great! HP makes a great printers. I own three! I usually buy them used at bargain prices too. ️ I'm glad to know I could help you and that you got value from my work here. I made this video to help people just like you. But should not the 'n' in the model number indicate it is already network ready and has an Ethernet port to begin with?? Run a network cable, patch on to a wireless bridge, use a MoCA adapter, so many options! What option do we have for something that is only USB?? Just a network print server which does not work unless there is third party software involved?
I tried to convert a router into an extender using your instructions, but then I found the option to use an extender. It works great. I do like this option for the printer though because sometimes the printer does go offline. Thank you for all that you do.

Thank you, Richard, for this video... I had purchased a HP MFP M127fn from facebook market thinking it had wifi but when the guy showed up he then said it was network... he gave me another $25 off and since I do have a network connection in my home office I thought I'd do that - but after seeing this I used the savings to order an extender. Fingers crossed that it will be as easy as you show here... I will update my post when successful (or not)
Thank you, Richard - I was able to purchase the TP-Link extender and get it connected to my MESH TP-Link system... it works great just as you showed, got my and my wife's computer connected even with the HP Smart app from the Windows store

Thanks Richard. I am going to do this hack on a Xerox 6500 MFP which the wireless printing dongle gets damaged quite easily. Your video confirms it can be done. Many thanks. I have suscribed for more tips from you 😊

My printer is in basement. I currently lug laptop down and connect the usb in order to print. I like your solution. However, I would have to leave my printer on stand-by (continuously using electricity) all of the time in case I would need to print wirelessly from another location in house. And, I would still have to go to basement to pick up printed sheets. All I would be saving would be lugging down laptop to basement and hooking up usb in order to print. Don't know if it is worth it.
The nice thing about this solution is that I can put the printer anywhere. You could also go with a smart wall plug Amazon(paid): amzn.to/3G0Ragz or at Amazon(paid): amzn.to/3j9iZui that way you could turn it on remotely and save on electricity. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
LOL, I took that picture and enjoyed the delicious coffee at The Seattle Roastery - Starbucks Reserve (If you visit Seattle check it out). I watched the server do it and she made it look so easy! Wish I’d seen your video earlier. Bought an HP enterprise and just assumed wireless would be a basic integration. Bought a usb wireless but was very unreliable.
I was surprised when I found out my HP LaserJet Pro MFP M426fdn did not have WIFI built in! I give HP the prize for long printer names 😁. I hope you sorted it out. BTW my solution works great and is fairly economical. Thank you so much for commenting, watching and the very kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
