I love the emphasis fitted waists bring to me but it also can get exhuasting to wear fitted waists all the time. I honestly like the way a lot of natural looks feel on my body, but have to try and make sure they look good. Also, as someone who values modesty I find it can be hard sometimes to find romantic/theatrical romantic outfits that flatter and highlight my figure without drawing too much attention. Anyone else relate to these things?
Yes! Just dressing modestly alone is a struggle, let along bringing in your type and colors! I'm almost to the point of hunting down the right clothes online and buying them at any cost! I also like some loosely fitting clothes because I feel bloated a lot. My tummy is seriously my problem area. That, and my thighs.

Yesss we’re always recommended super sexy tight clothes and it’s just like hard when ur on a modest journey to do that! I see so many romantic fits that I love but can’t wear because it’s not modest so I end up wearing soft natural clothes and feeling a bit messy and swallowed in my clothes.

Thank you Merriam for this video! As a romantic I have struggled to find enough content explaining our options. I notice a lot of Kibbe you tubers spend less time discussing this type than the rest of the types. My biggest challenge as a romantic is trying to downplay my curves in order to appear classy and professional but without looking frumpy or matronly. And although I like frills, I also very much enjoy classic lines and bold solid colors. The clothes Marylin was wearing the first half of the video were excellent inspiration for me, thank you! And I enjoyed seeing the leggings with little gathers too. I will be on the look out for those! Thank you Merriam for another great video!
I reccomend the victorian trading company for romantic clothes. They've got the bygone era mastered, and nobody else offers it, and they specialize in it! My 2 cents.
One of my issues with Kibbe is that it's quite difficult to find updated info on it. Or more specifically, info for younger women like in their 20's. Like would crop tops work on a romantic? I guess it's waist emphasis, so perhaps ..
I think it would depend on the boxyness of the croptop. If boxy = flamboyant gamine. If tight-fitted = romantic, theatrical romantic, but basically any type with waist emphasis.
@@Nofretari That's a shame that you think so! There are so many varieties of crop tops and at varying lengths, it'd be a shame to disregard them all as unwearable.
I love your whole kibbe series and especially this video. I am definitely a Romantic, and find it hard to look good in casual styles. I especially look dreadful in jeans! I tend to wear long, floaty skirts for casual days, and I wish you would create a video for those of us who prefer skirts and dresses to trousers and jeans. Thank you for your posts!
This series would be so useful for those who are not sure of their body type as well. They could watch and think 'Yep, this type is definitely NOT me!' Hopefully, they find one that is! Or at least the closest!
I really love how dainty and pretty romantics are. They are so lucky that they are almost all yin and don’t have too worry about looking broad and masculine.
I never took the texture of clothes into account! It's really crazy how much of an effect they have. Bulky, overly textured sweaters and jackets look horrible on me (unless I can belt it), but soft, thin sweaters flatter like crazy. Not do good for wintertime, but at least I'll look cute when I freeze to death :')
I am so so happy that you included "if your hair is straight and may be thin and you are a romantic type..." and also the example of a celebrity who is romantic with that kind of hair. Thank you, it helps me, and shows that you are not just repeating some keywords but putting thought into the video's content.
Lots of useful tips in this video, especially with respect to hair! As a romantic, I would quibble just a couple of suggestions though. First, I don't think leggings are a good suggestion for romantics. They're not soft and gentle enough -- too sporty. Cinched-ankle joggers are MUCH better for casual pants. Second one of the t-shirt suggestions is a fitted crew-neck, and I also find this style to be unflattering. A slight boat neck, on the other hand, looks amazing, and t-shirts that are only loosely fitted look great, especially tucked in.
That's an interesting take. I think it depends from one person to another. Even within the same body type there are differences. Maybe it should have been wise for her to include joggers as well. But, as a romantic, I personally find them ugly, unflattering (on me) and not as comfortable as leggings. So the recommendation for what kind of leggins could look better on my body are welcome. And on me crew necks are fine, not the best but not the worst. I often wear necklaces so they help make it work I guess. But you're right about boat necks. Even before I knew anything about Kibbe, I was surprised how well they fit. And how elegant they look on me. Same with loose tops.
Thank you for making an outfit video for romantics that’s not too heavy on frilly lacy things or clothing that looks like it came off of the Mad men set!
Thank you so much for this video! This was super helpful. Typing myself as TR wasn't too hard for me, and unlike a lot of people in the comment section I'm perfectly happy with my body and don't wish for more yang, but understanding what's good looks for TR clothes hasn't been easy. Pinterest gives you suuuuper outdated, frilly nightmares of ruffles and weird lace all over the place. As a Scandi girl I'm used to fashion being very yang heavy, with solid colours and minimalistic designs. Sooo beautiful but not right for romantics... Now I know how to think.
Who would've known I've been doing something right! It's just that TR is always said to look best in excessive details and I had doubts that most of my day-to-day looks (similar to Beyonce's in this vid) aren't really the best option. Maybe a dainty print on the shirt would be even better but I do have some of those too. Thank you!!! Random story: I remember when I didn't know about Kibbe, I tried on a peplum top once; being a 'pear' was the only body type I knew and since appearantly peplums are a no-no for 'pears' I was shocked that it actually looked really good and really suited me haha!
Thank you a lot, this was really needed, as a romantic I find it hard to follow my style recommendations, my personal style is more minimal than what I see described as a romantic style. I saw a lot of looks here that I can just be inspired by, again thank you for this.
Fantastic! I really loved the discussion about hair! And it was really useful to see your suggestions for dressing up and down (in the casual range). A tip from David Kibbe himself for a very relaxing/comfortable look for romantics: Harem trousers.
I’m a theatrical romantic & I seem to have trouble finding dresses that look good on me. I’d love to have dresses for casual/everyday, a wedding, or really dressed up but I am not exactly sure what to look for. Great video!
I was missing dresses, jackets and shoes from previous video, casual outfits for dramatics and naturals. Any way I love these videos and have to watch them all, even they aren't my bodytype. Learning also what would not be best for me...
I literally only have two types, body con/ slim, and the typical A line dresses; They have waist emphasis, flowy type bottom and are just very feminine. And the body con looks good because you're just showing what you have, and that's pretty good usually haha 😊
I think it's hard to find theatrical romantic dresses these days that aren't more expensive because typical and affordable clothing stores often cater to naturals, classics and dramatics a lot. Those types are in fashion these days the most, so trends cater to them. I find it harder to find theatrical romantic dresses for good prices (and in my size, which is very small- thanks to vanity sizing) but they're out there. It usually takes a combination of a lot of searching, saving or finding sales and finding the right size for me. Good luck!
I think we can actually pull off most dresses, just have to make sure to cinch the waist if it's not already part of the dress structure. Belts are you best friend! Add a belt to a swing dress or a shift dress, and boom perfect for a theatrical romantic. Another trick I use when it's colder is to add a fitted quilted vest unzipped; it has a similar effect of highlighting the waist. Also pay attention to the neckline/sleeves just like you do for tops.
This is a great topic to cover, thank you Merriam! My sister is a Romantic and she will be thrilled to learn that she does not have to wear frills all the time to look her personal best. I am a Soft Classic and I have little trouble finding something flattering for a special occasion but the business dress code is exhausting and casual items can be difficult to find as well, since our current fashion suits Dramatics and Naturals of all kinds most.
At around 7:50 you explain why these type of shirts in the middle look good on me - the looseness creates SOFTNESS. It was these kinds of clothing that had me confused about being possibly a soft natural for some time, including the pants that you mention around 10:10 . They didn't have waist emphasis, the ones that I found, but it was still preferable to clothes that are simply too tight around the bust (in order to fit my waist) as that created a "taught" look - something my body simply doesn't have naturally. This definitely has me more motivated to design and make my own clothes! I'm just not likely to get a proper fit without it.
Yay, I'm happy it makes a bit of sense now!! And these days, I'm becoming a huge proponent of tailoring your clothes! :) If not sewing your own, then you could try buying one or two sizes up to avoid the 'taut' look you're talking about, and then taking the waist in a little bit (either by yourself or with a tailor). Much easier than sewing, unless you enjoy sewing that is!
We would absolutely appreciate help with casual looks for classics, soft classics and dramatic classics! Especially because there's a misperception that classics must always dress rather "smart" and elegant in order to suit their body type. But what does a classic wear on vacation, or on an average Saturday morning running errands, wanting to look relaxed but still well put together?
This is amazing! I just learned that I am a pure romantic, but my lifestyle is extremely casual so I was confused about how to dress in a very relaxed way as a romantic. Your video really spells it out and is great for me as a beginner!
Being romantic I always look chubby even when I was skinny so I was really frustrated with my body and I didn’t know why but this help and now I love my body and now I can find clothes that make me feel confident
As a flamboyant gamine, I find it very difficult to dress for an office environment, as I fear looking dull. It seems romantics and gamines have a similar problem, in that it is easy to assume they must dress over-the-top in order to wear their lines. Here's a question: I wonder if different people within the same category will look either better or worse depending upon their own yin-yang ratio. For instance, I am a flamboyant gamine with nearly equal parts yang and yin (8 to 7) and with no B answers. I wonder if I would look worse than another flamboyant gamine who has more yang than I or who perhaps has answer-B characteristics in certain clothes. Or perhaps a soft natural with a touch more yang would look better in certain clothes than a soft natural with less yang. I realize it is more about the overall appearance and how these yin and yang elements come together to create the whole person, but I am still curious.
Merriam thanks for this video! As a romantic it's sp hard to find videos for casual outfits and mostly, modern clothes. Most of the videos talk about Marilyn and a few Christina Ricci and Helena Boham Carter (who;s style personally don't works at all for me). Would you please do an updated version of this? In 2022 most fits are baggier, no leggings anymore and the trends are quite retro (70s, 200s inspired). Please make the updated version!!
All of your videos are so helpful & informative! I’ve finally found someone who wants to deep dive into *all the things* olive skin tone & kibbe! And your videos are zero drama - an absolute win❤️🙌🏻! And the “not” section at the end - ridiculously helpful!
Merriam, love your videos. I have two ideas for you. First, you mentioned soft classic in this video. I am interested in how style overlap amongst body types. Is a casual look in a romantic a more professional (level 2) or dressed up (level 3) look if on a soft classic? My second idea is how different body types can wear the trendy styles of the season. (Photos of each body type wearing plaids, or power shoulders or sparkle, etc) Hope you like my ideas, love watching your videos!
I don't know what the Kibbe system would say about my body type but I do know these descriptions of romantic clothes sounds so much like what I feel most happy wearing! Except I wouldn't call my hair glamorous. I haven't quite sorted out my hair yet but I love bringing out what wave it has and having a somewhat messy, tousled look. I love how balayage looks.
Thank you for wisdom with the middle shirt. Finally romantic type clothing options you have really helped me a lot to understand why certain things will not work for me
Like several others, the classics please! I am either a classic or soft classic Kibbe type. Have been told I look great in many styles. Seems like it should be easy for us, right? No, I feel rather like a chameleon - able to choose clothing according to my mood or surroundings. And my over-flowing closet reflects that! I’d like to declutter and reduce, but I don’t know what “classic style” means anymore. Button-down stiff shirts? Tailored trousers? Crew neck pullover and matching cardigan? Trenchcoat and formal pumps? No, thanks! Yes, I’ve done that in the past and felt fine, looked great. But that seems far too rigid, “corporate” and frankly, staid and old-fashioned for my present more casual lifestyle. Help, please, Merriam! What is modern classic? Love your work!
Wonderful and informative video (as always!) I love how you explain the styles and looks. I'm a Romantic but have always had real difficulty wearing trousers in general - this is also very much due to my being overweight and self-conscious. But also find it difficult to do formal or "serious" looks.
I loved this vlog! Great job! I am 5'3' Theatrical Romantic and this was really helpful and I love to dress casually. I love ruching, skinny jeans, and small florals. Now I know why because that is what looks best on me. I especially liked your explanations of how to discern what I might think was another's type of clothing. I prefer the softer waist emphasis and not to constantly think I should be cinched in. Love your vids on all the types. You have a great understanding on style! P.S, I love your voice and your gamine style. XO
I'm a Romantic and hate everything flowy, frilly, that makes volume or sticks to my waist 😩 I honestly don't know what to wear, the clothes I like usually look good on classics or dramatics, and horrible on my body
Thank you this was very informative. Still not sure if I'm a soft gamine or theatrical romantic. Would love to see a video on hair and makeup for gamines.
@@merriamstyle off the shoulder crop top and high waisted skinny jeans is my go to for casual and I kinda lean towards classic the more formal I go (my kibbe awnsers are EEDDDEEEEDEDDCEE btw so I class myself as theatrical romantic/romantic inginue, not sure if my face is the same though :/)
I would love to see a video comparing Romantics and Soft Dramatics. On the surface it seems obvious but there can be tall romantics and shorter soft dramatics (ie you can BE tall but LOOK short and vice versa). Furthermore, the advice Kibbe gives them is quite similar. The differences seem to be small rounded lines vs large rounded lines. I've seen a few people online wondering this as well but not a lot of information. I would love a video on your opinion on this matter.
I never clicked so fast Merriam! I was late for my appointment because... priorities 😂😂 Question: It's commonly recommended that Softs use waist emphasis, but I don't know that that is necessarily an element of vertical lines. Dramatics look good when they emphasize their vertical line and Gamines look good when they break themselves up, but what about Romantics? Should we break our lines up too because we're small? I think Kibbe has said TRs look good wearing monochromatic, but why is that? I thought it was interesting that in your Dramatic/Natural video you focused more on the lines that those types wear and for Romantics you talked a lot more about fabrics, the size of items, and hair making or breaking a look. To answer your question, I'm some sort of Romantic (probably theatrical) and the hardest looks for me to create are casual. Loose turns into dumpy very quickly and width turns into fat. I love that you didn't focus on accessories in this video. As a low maintenance Romantic the main things I look for in clothing is fittedness at the shoulders, wrists, neck, and ankles, shoes that are softly tapered (not too angular or too rounded), and making sure my hair gets cut in a way that it naturally has volume. Struggle: I'm on the medium to heavy side with a very long upper body and I hate tucking things in because it emphasizes my tummy. If something fits well in the shoulders and bust but is flowy or rounded at the bottom (peplum is my BFF) I think it works. The pant counterpart to peplum is bell bottom or flare pants because they still have the element of fittedness at the knee BUT it matches the lusciousness of the Romantic's bust and hips. I never see this pant recommended for Romantics but I think it looks great! Very insightful video! I loved this one.
Are your hands and feet large compared to your body/head? Are your shoulders a bit wider than your hips? Are your hips more straight or round? How is your jaw line? Do you have blunt jaw and shoulders? Do you look more sophisticated and put together in long and relaxed lines (soft natural) or waist emphasis and gathers, tucked in tops? (Romantic). I thought I was TR but I am actually a SN according to these questions and the lines that look best on me. I hope it helps.
@@di3486 1.no 2.no 3. My jaw has no real definition. I'm not sure what lines look best on me cause I've never really worn romantic lines but at this point I'm pretty sure I'm romantic. My hips are pretty round and i am quite fleshy. Thank you.
I'm thinking something like "occasion " wear. For the gym, church , work, etc it is sometimes difficult and doesn't make sense to wear Romantic clothes. And, also what about the seasons. Usually during winter I do not like Romantic clothes under a coat. Long flowy sleeves are cold and a nuisance in the sleeves of a winter coat. A flowy dress is too cold and doesn't look good with winter boots. Does this make sense to you? What do you think?
I can’t tell if I’m a soft gamine or a romantic. I’m leaning towards soft gamine because I am very petite with some angularity but still pretty soft and curvy but I feel like some romantic lines fit me better than soft gamine, but also some soft gamine lines fit me better than romantic. V confused😂
Could you do a video about what each body type might typically mistake for their clothes but which aren't, and why? :) And another wish: a separate video on trousers for the body types? I've watched so many of your excellent body type videos and even though you of course discuss pants as well, I find myself hoping for more focused directions on that.
This was so well explained, but I am more confused now! All of these clothes are the lines I gravitate to and that look best on me, but I have a small chest, long limbs, and my face has no romantic elements.
Love your selection of images and commentary. I am unsure why Beyonce's tan pants need tapering at the ankle. I think she looks sophisticated and feminine. When a woman has curves, could tapered ankles and a cinched waist look disproportionate?
I eat these up, even when they're not my body type! As a flamboyant natural, I find it really difficult to feel feminine, which is my personal style. Not sure how to bring my style and lines together.
I can imagine that! Flamboyant natural si the most 'masculine' type out there. Other yang types, such as the dramatic, wear FN clothes to look more dainty and feminine in comparison. But what if you're an FN already...
@@gittevandevelde2208 exactly. I just feel so large all the time. And then I'm supposed to wear super loose, oversized stuff and I just feel like my shape is lost and everything about me, even my clothes, is just large.
@@stayathomemess Yes! I don't have your struggle (dramatic classic or soft dramatic) but a video about this would indeed be very interesting. All I can think of is having long hair. FN's look very good with long, loose hair and it has the association of being feminine.
Is the empire waist Romantic or Natural (or some other type)? I'm R or TR and I loved empire waists because they could hide my overweight belly, but now I realize I look even wider and fatter. I can only carry empire waist if it's a floor length dress.
I am a romantic but I'm top heavy and an inverted triangle shape. How will it help me look good if my pants are tapered at the ankles with a looser blouse? Also, I'm very very tiny. Just at 4'10" and slightly chubby. Any suggestions Merriam? Your channel is the one that's taught me the most! Thank you so much for making so much content that's presented in the simplest manner. Love from India!
What if I'm a romantic but with a bigger upper body? I'm kind of an inverted triangle romantic, but with a pretty small waist at the level of my navel or a little above. When I augment my natural waist where it's the smallest, I look unbalanced cause of the size of my shoulders and bust. I look best when I wear low_waisted items, with the tucking of course and all other rules.
Great video. I think I'm Soft Dramatic and I have trouble finding clothes in general (especially pants and casual dresses lately). So I've been wearing Soft Gamine (and some Theatrical Romantic) lines which seems to work. Also, it's difficult sometimes to find shoes my size and I would like to know if there's a particular shoe style that would get along easily with most of my looks.
Hi, as an SD my go to choices universally are, for flats: pointed toe flats (ballet type, or even not too chunky pointed moccasins), for high heels: pointed toe stiletto pumps with low toe cleavage (think something like Pigalle 120 by Louboutin). Hope it helps x
Even though I'm a romantic, I don't like: things that are frilly and flowy, long cuts/skirts that hit my ankles, overly girly and cute pieces. But what is romantic and still suits my style is: tapered legs and paper bag waists for pants, A-line skirts that hit mid-thigh (not H-line!), and emphasizing my waist even if pieces are structured.
Try Talbots. They have a lot of great classic clothes. Just be careful to avoid the gamine items also there. I must admit many items of that nature appeal to the playful, sentimental side of me e.g. Scotty dog on pullover, bright floral print on otherwise classic lines of a dress or slim pants, etc. Those are the impulse buys I usually regret later :)
We have a great chain here in Canada called, Northern Reflections which carries reasonably priced classic styles. Also the Nygard lines and its companion stores, TanJay for older women. In the States, Lands End and LLBean have casual as well as business clothing for classics and reasonably priced. Hope that helps.
For curiosity's sake, I would like to ask my fellow watchers a question. Could you state your Kibbe type and one or two descriptive terms you hear most often applied to you? I'm so curious to know if people within the same category have similar adjectives applied to them.
Ok so I'm pretty sure I'm a romantic. Kate Winslet and I have an identical body. I find that Because of the softness, we often appear heavier than we actually are. I find that the defined waist, fleshy arms and thighs are the two attributes that apply the most. like it doesn't matter how small I get (47kg at one point) they just stay fleshy looking. The only thing that does not apply to me is the large bust. What about you?
Theatrical romantic; I get lots of "curvy," "stronger than you look!" (and I'm not strong at all), and comparisons with other eras, which are lovely to hear (Mona Lisa or various ninja turtles paintings). My secret fear is that I feel like I have to actively try NOT to look like some jolly Victorian matron who runs a boarding house and brings people beef stew. Lol I might be the only one who sees this, but it's the real reason I never ever wear my hair in a top-knot.
HEY i lovely the goth and grunge aesthetic however sometimes it can look slightly harsh on me, any advice on how to tone kt down without loosing too much "edge"
Hi , what if you are a romantic that is 5 ft 0 in...my legs are very short but I am super curvy at 115 lbs. I always feel more balances in a boot cut or straight leg pant... I wonder your opinion on this?
I've a cousin who is (very probably) a romantic and 4'10, with short legs and a very curvy body. I say this to say I know a person with similar struggles. Perhaps you could wear high-waisted pants, as they are said to elongate the legs. Plus, they give waist-emphasis. It seems fitted-ness is an important element, so I wonder if it's ok to forgo that element at the ankles so long as it is present elsewhere. I'm by no means as knowledgeable in this topic as Merriam, but I hope the suggestion is helpful.
I was analyzed by several professionals (not Kibbe), though one who tended to be very good at analyzes and being correct very commonly with other systems, felt sure I was a Romantic and i was seen as extremely yin in a couple other systems) and I am barely over 5'0". My bone structure is very small, and all the analysts I have seen saw me as very yin, very high ingenue though -- so not too overtly sexy. High waisted jeans (usually skinny for me if actual jeans) look best on me, with a lot of stretch. However, also as recommended to me by another analyst giving me very yin suggestions -- and velvet straight leg pants with a decent amount of spandex for comfort and movement without masculine detaling could be very Romantic, I think -- no belt loops, side or back zip with a clasp. Especially worn with the right top and shoes. Sorry if that is unhelpful. I got mine from the Gap, but they are sold a number of places if you it sounded interesting. Mine are cropped above the ankle, in Petites.
@@bonnieramirez4701 The ones I got at Christmastime were Midrise Velvet Pixie ankle pants, to get an idea of what I mean. Now I'm confused all over again, because I don't look much different from them, but I'm definitely not petite, but neither are they..

My biggest challenge as a romantic is trying to downplay my curves in order to appear classy and professional but without looking frumpy or matronly. And I enjoyed seeing the leggings with little gathers too. I will be on the look out for those! Thank you Merriam for another great video!
I reccomend the victorian trading company for romantic clothes. They've got the bygone era mastered, and nobody else offers it, and they specialize in it! My 2 cents.
I am also romantic. You might want to check my video. Thanks😊
You might want to see my video, I am romantic. Thanks

Ooh I’m a romantic and I’ve found I look very nice in a fitted crop top and flow-y high waisted skirt 😄 So I would say yes.
No one over twenty-one should wear crop tops. Highly tacky
@@Nofretari That's a shame that you think so! There are so many varieties of crop tops and at varying lengths, it'd be a shame to disregard them all as unwearable.
the most useful tips for me were the "not romantic" section. The hardest part will be to keep my hair in check😂
I disagree. I'm a TR and I desperately wish I was more imposing.
It's funny because I'm a romantic type and I love so much dramatic features. To me its very sexy. I really don't like the fact that I m only ying.
Haha I can relate to this@@Em-fz5uh
All yin until you wear the wrong thing, then you look like a middle school boy.
@@cupstudios3788 oh yeah, it's true 😅
I never took the texture of clothes into account! It's really crazy how much of an effect they have. Bulky, overly textured sweaters and jackets look horrible on me (unless I can belt it), but soft, thin sweaters flatter like crazy. Not do good for wintertime, but at least I'll look cute when I freeze to death :')
I am so so happy that you included "if your hair is straight and may be thin and you are a romantic type..." and also the example of a celebrity who is romantic with that kind of hair. Thank you, it helps me, and shows that you are not just repeating some keywords but putting thought into the video's content.
I have never clicked faster! Thank you Merriam, very well done.
Hi Liz! Happy to hear from you again. Hope you're enjoying your romantic lines.
Love your soft voice
Good luck!
Two words : Wrap dresses. A hundred percent, they're perfect for romantics
Great video ! I would love to see one on pure Classics especially casual and edgy look. Thanks
I agree 100% about the hair tip! Thanks for your great content Merriam
This was great, please do TR, also casual hair /having straight hair as a TR.
SAME! I worked out to lose all my "softness" (which I thought was because I was fat).. never happened
I lost 20 lbs and I'm still "soft" lol. I accept that the romantic body type is like this
ah this is exactly what i needed!
As a flamboyant gamine, I find it very difficult to dress for an office environment, as I fear looking dull.
It seems romantics and gamines have a similar problem, in that it is easy to assume they must dress over-the-top in order to wear their lines.
Here's a question:
I wonder if different people within the same category will look either better or worse depending upon their own yin-yang ratio.
Great video, would love to se all the types explained like that. Thank you for all your great work :-)
Ooo ok now i figured out why my hair looks a lot better half up half down
I love it. I would love to see a video of more romantic hair styles and cuts for romantics which aren't too difficult to maintain like for mums etc.
Thank you , very inspiring . Found my kibbe body type , theatrical romantic . Happy about it .😍
Merriam thanks for this video!
It would be beyond amazing if you told us what workout clothes to wear!! Love your videos!
(Photos of each body type wearing plaids, or power shoulders or sparkle, etc)
Hope you like my ideas, love watching your videos!
you made my Christmas!
I really enjoyed this video. It gave me great ideas to dress as a romantic body type. And oh my gosh your voice is so soothing.
XO
Thank you for this video Merriam. You put so much effort into these videos and I really appreciate that. Merry Christmas
Sharon Sullivan here and I am a romantic and this explains what I need to know. You are great!
Thank You new subscriber cheers from Pennsylvania 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍
I'm a Romantic and hate everything flowy, frilly, that makes volume or sticks to my waist 😩 I honestly don't know what to wear, the clothes I like usually look good on classics or dramatics, and horrible on my body
Your voice is so calming that i can watch this video as my partner is sleeping ❤
I thought the video was amazing and in depth - as always.
Thank you this was very informative. Still not sure if I'm a soft gamine or theatrical romantic. Would love to see a video on hair and makeup for gamines.
Thank you for your amazing work ❤️❤️
Now: the classics.
Yes!
😍🙌🏻
Would love to see a Soft Natural vs Soft Classic
@Ivuf Liff I was not a fan of the teddy bear video and it wasn't just soft natural vs soft classic.
I'm a romantic and find I can pull off classic if I add the right embellishments
Yes, definitely. You would look elegant in the same look a soft classic would look very glamorous in. :)
GREAT!!! 😃 Thank you so so much Merriam!!! 😘😘😘
Thanks for the video Merriam it was very helpful.❤️❤️❤️
I never clicked so fast Merriam! I was late for my appointment because... priorities 😂😂
Question: It's commonly recommended that Softs use waist emphasis, but I don't know that that is necessarily an element of vertical lines.
It's Christmas!!! Thank you so much Merriam !
Wow! Found your channel and I’m loving it!
Maybe that last shirt would look good on a Soft Gamine? I'm not sure, what do you think?
But it's not fitted and it doesn't have a high-neckline. I think that piece would not work with the lines of any body types.
@@poojaasharma Yeah, you're right. It would probably need to go with an otherwise-perfect outfit for some types, then it could work on a few of them
Hi gorgeous! I absolutely love your videos. Could you please do a video for pure gamines? I would love to hear your advice!
Are Romantics the only type that Capri pants really flatter?
Hello Merriam, how are you? I was wondering if you could do pixie hair cut for different kibbe types.
Hi Merriam I can't decide if I am a soft natural or romantic. What is the key difference between the two? Any one please tell me if they know.
Thank you.
I thought I was a theatrical romantic but I'm starting to think I'm just a pure romantic due to my softness and light colouring :)
Can you make more videos on romantics? It's kind of difficult to find trendy idem that matche romantic line :(
Yes! Finally! Thank you so much ❤
I'm thinking something like "occasion " wear.
I absolutely agree
I can’t tell if I’m a soft gamine or a romantic. I’m leaning towards soft gamine because I am very petite with some angularity but still pretty soft and curvy but I feel like some romantic lines fit me better than soft gamine, but also some soft gamine lines fit me better than romantic. V confused😂
What about theatrical romantic?
Could you do a video about what each body type might typically mistake for their clothes but which aren't, and why? :) And another wish: a separate video on trousers for the body types? I've watched so many of your excellent body type videos and even though you of course discuss pants as well, I find myself hoping for more focused directions on that.
This was so well explained, but I am more confused now! All of these clothes are the lines I gravitate to and that look best on me, but I have a small chest, long limbs, and my face has no romantic elements.
I'd looove to see a video on casual looks for gamine types..
@@stayathomemess And I can imagine all of the FN celebrities, often runway models, aren't good examples either.
@@gittevandevelde2208 right! "Most flamboyant naturals are supermodels!" Well cool, I'm not a supermodel, so... Help? Haha
Great video as always
Can TR wear romantic stuff as well? No?
Outstanding stylist tips - are you available for hire?
Even though I'm a romantic, I don't like: things that are frilly and flowy, long cuts/skirts that hit my ankles, overly girly and cute pieces. But what is romantic and still suits my style is: tapered legs and paper bag waists for pants, A-line skirts that hit mid-thigh (not H-line!), and emphasizing my waist even if pieces are structured.
Like theatrical romantic can I wear like romantic?
What stores are good for classics? I know the lines and fabrics that I need, but I can't find them
What about Theory or J Crew? Some Ann Taylor?
Thanks for recommendation! Unfortunately it is a little bit expensive for me, maybe I'll try them later
@@nmqoss5621 I recommend perusing your local thrift shops.
All these looks are so out of date -early 2010’s. It’s hard to be fashionable or even trendy as a romantic 😩
Thanks 😊
Thank you for this!!
What about you?
i get called soft and curvy and rounded a lot- but i'm actually 5'6 and am slim so its confusing! no idea what i am but romantic clothes are my fave
@@Mary-ui4qq my arms ad legs stay that way too!

@@bridgettmahoney1390 thank you so much! I will look at the gap for those pants.
@@bonnieramirez4701 The ones I got at Christmastime were Midrise Velvet Pixie ankle pants, to get an idea of what I mean. I've been straight up excluding dramatic and romantic types for me while trying to figure things out, was going from soft classic, to soft natural, to flamboyant gamine.. Until I found out that Mila Kunis and Selena Gomez are considered theatrical romantics.. Now I'm confused all over again, because I don't look much different from them, but I'm definitely not petite, but neither are they..
This is so helpful but I REALLY don't like wearing high heels. I might end up enduring them very rarely but I'd never take them as an everyday thing, and yet they seem to be the shoes that best fit romantics :(
I’ve watched so many videos on youtube and also made the kibbe body type test, but I cannot tell whether I‘m a romantic or soft classic 😓
I am a romantic and this video is really helpful! As a bright summer type & a romantic, I keep having trouble to find nice romantic outfits that fit the fall/winter season. All that looks good on me seems to be very spring/summer like. Any tips someone here? Other romantics maybe? :)
