What a great fair dinkum instructional video by an true blue Aussie, my wife and i loved it, so easy to understand.I was just given a Greenfield Mini Mower looks about 10 years old with plenty of compression however have never owned a Ride on before so Johns video was just what i needed,Thanks Mate Bob B Ocean Shores NSW
I’ve had 4 Greenfield machines over the years, generally I like to keep 2 going at once because we’ve got big land, they do about 10-15 hrs a week. I turn 98 this year and I’m still driving it, no problem about that, like you I service at the dealer !
I have had a very similar experience , my 1st Greenfield was second hand early model , it was an amazing mower , years later I purchased a new Greenfield fastcut 32 evolution with a Honda Motor . Absolutely brilliant mower still going strong ,over 15 years old. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend 100%
Good stuff! I still got our First Greenfield that dad bought back in 1985, rebuilt her several yrs ago and still makes long grass disappear! Its really good to see Greenfield making Mowers again, id love to have a new one but at 6.5K its something I cant afford :(
@@johnp1388 I’ve had mince since 2006 it’s been rolled over about 7 times on a hill property. No parts required fixing. Our property is abuse for the thing but it just doesn’t give up today marks the day the first problem happened. The headlight melted. Just that in 17 years I swear these things where not made in a mower factory but a tank factory cause I swear these things are tanks
G'day John, love your vid. So undeniably Australian. Quick note on your old mower @ 4:18 It appears to be a Greenfield VE - VR Tractor 8. (VE = Electric Start : VR = Recoil)(8 = HP) The whole reason I stumbled upon your video is because I just picked one of those up on Sunday in order to restore it. Yours appears to missing the white facia, but still a beast.
Hi John P, I’ve just purchased a brand new greenfield mower v-twin. My green field does not stop the thing keeps on going. My property is really rough and the greenfield does not notice it. We should organise a mower race Jonny
Thanks John I have a22 year old greenfield Bought new in2000 and I treat it it rough . It’s my happy place. Still going but mower places won’t fix anymore as they say too old . The engagement pad is now metal on metal so looks like I’ll have to get anew one. Grrr
Thanks Karen. Yes, TIME catches up with these machines. I will eventually have to buy a new one too. I'm searching RUclips to find a video of anyone who has the new current, assembled overseas Greenfield, for some useful information.
Thanks for sharing that knowledge John, I just acquired a similar machine as part of a property purchase nth of Gympie. It uses a red nob to engage the cutter rather than that more robust looking lever yours has and the engine is only 17.5 hp. I guess they have evolved and tweaked the design a bit over the years. We also got a 2007 Dongfeng df354 which I think is the older and bigger brother to the one you have? I'm not a country person so I have a bit of a learning curve ahead of me. 😁
Thanks Daniel. Glad the video was of use to you. If you keep the Greenfield regularly serviced, it should last a long time. Same goes for the Dongfeng. BRISMAC I recommend to you, should you need parts, advice ( located in Brisbane ).
Hello Johnny. I'm not into buying and selling these machines, so I really can't answer your question. Best to look on FB Group: Greenfield Mowers of Australia, and ask the question on that forum. There's plenty of Greenfield lovers on there who will no doubt give you some guidance, re - Price. Hope that helps.
Love em had mine for about 3 years due to radiotherapy leg circulation complications and this mower has helped me emenceley. Mine must be an earlier model as it did not have that oil drain setup or the front anti scalp wheels which I have now installed. No emergency brake or adjustable seat. Very interested in that oil drain setup might try and find one. Thanks John great video. Graeme in Sydney
my poor green field has lived the life of a flogged donkey. It tried to run away from home. I thrashed it into submission and still it labours on. Its been 15 years and I now have to accept it will probly out live me, marry a new owner, and have a little peace and happiness. Yes . . . It is a mower you have a lifetime relationship with folks.
Hello Michael. I Really COULDNT tell you mate, as I am not in the business of buying or selling. I suggest a look on the Greenfield Owners FB page and you could possibly ask the question there. Sorry I couldn't help. Good luck
I have been looking at buying a new cox or greenfield and none of the dealers will stock them and tell me the build quality is rubbish and the Chinese engine has carb issues. Have you seen the new cox built greenfield yet, if so what your thoughts on it ? Thanks Phil Ps love how you do your vids
Hello Phil, thanks for your comments. Regarding the 'New Greenfield' - No mate, I have not seen one 'in the flesh' yet. I'm hoping my own Greenfield will last for a very long time. Haven't heard any Goss about build issues and the like. I think someone who HAS a new one, should do a RUclips Review, so we can be 'in the know'.
@@johnp1388 I have a old cox stockman series 2 that I can not kill, but like all the cox ride on of that age has heavy/ need to hands to steer it, rubbish turning circle and the clutch cone drive setup requires you push down that hard that It kills your leg and hip after half an hour of mowing, the greenfield all ways had a more user friendly drive system and a better turning circle, But like you said on your video it doesn’t handle being slammed from forward to reverse very well unlike the clutch cone system of the Cox. I have finally have the phone number of the local Cox/Greenfield rep and I’ll give them a call If I do get a new one I’ll definitely post a video on it.

Hello Greg, no mate, my current Greenfield in video is not fitted with diff lock - wasn't available on this base model at the time. Hold onto that 1980 model you have - they're Classics 👍
Great video mate, I agree they are a very well designed tough ride on. Greenfield in my opinion is number one when it comes to what they make and it’s durability.
Grouse machine! I've got a creek where I can't mow for 8 months and by the time I get there to mow the grass is about hip height. Ol' greenie chews thru it no problem. Just gotta take it slow.
