And it doesn't hurt that both and Bernardo are excellent conveyers of information. You can be the best in the world but if you lack the necessary teaching and communicating skills, that knowledge will stay trapped in your mind and die with you.

Socrates 98 yeah I don’t see the “the diamond” as a technique. I think he is is trying to suggest when on bottom the best way to defend as the person starts to pass is to always attempt to connect the elbows with the inside of the knees. As if that is the general body shape to aim for when on bottom. It’s just so badly demonstrated. This is one of the worst teaching of a technique I’ve ever seen.

Thank you guys, this video changed my defensive game totally. And I have just started to grasp the concepts explained! I have only a question, if keeping the elbow on the outside of the shielding knee how do you prevent not to have the knee pushed down together? Does keeping the elbow inside the knee helps???

Thank you so much guys... love this drill. I’m horrible at protecting my guard. Then again I’m a white belt 😂 of 5 months. 😂 but I will definitely put this into practice.
