    I saw this and thought it was pretty sweet but I tried it and showed it to my students at open mat today and it seriously is amazing. The connection you make with his arm and yours over it doesnt look like anything but is super strong, and the leverage you get from your body vs his arm, you cant stop it. Amazing as always, Master Sauer.

      I just pulled this off, numerous times, during an open mat today.
      Like, it was crazy just how effective it was at consistently allowing me to recover guard from even a brolic af brown belt.

      @@donovanb9020 is the arm in danger when it comes to the kimura from there or is this a safe move to pull off every time?

    • @donovanb9020
      @donovanb9020 2 года назад +3

      @@DECEPTIONINDICATED
      Idk about using it everytime but this move seems to depend on the top guy having the far side underhook + Crossface grip.
      As far as the threat of a kimura:
      Watch Pedro's head when shifts into position.
      He uses it to pin Bernardo's left arm which helps keep him safe from the kimura threat. That "sticky" feeling Bernardo describes is what also helps stifle any positional transitions.

    So I find all of Bernado's videos are a sales pitch for some instructional, but talking to the masters and listening to their experience is the most precious information. Knowing that Pedro would go to training and get tapped on average 18 times every time, yet he still kept going gives me the confidence to get back on the mat no matter how tough it may be. These insights are amazing for me, as always.

Learning about longevity in this hobby and getting some wisdom from these guys are super important for me now.

    • @kayathepiratebaykid
      @kayathepiratebaykid 3 года назад +3

      I think what you wrote here is key to jiujitsu. A lot of people wrestle themselves out of pins by sheer strength and athleticism. And by 40 you lose this ability: in comes the intelligence of jiu-jitsu. I don't understand coaches who treat jiujitsu like it is wrestling, which has a completely different approach. Hence the name difference.
