    • @ongobongo8333

      you have to open up to submit from there, and if you lose the position it can result in a back take

    • @keryyo
      @keryyo 2 года назад

      I'm a 4 month white belt. If someone gets that backside underhook on me I love going into kesa gatame. There are so many subs from it if you drill them, they are all based off the different escapes they attempt. A lot of the bjj schools don't drill these positions often cause you don't get points for them in competition. But it's kind of a double edged sword, if they don't get in them as often, they also don't know how to defend them as well. I've tapped some colored belts with kesa gatame. The same guys can give me mount or their back and they are so much better at defending than I am at attacking that I can't finish them in those positions. I really love these low energy high pressure possitions.

    Poor Bernardo!

  • @keryyo
    @keryyo 2 года назад +1

    I'm just starting at 35 as a white belt, recently found kesa gatame, but hadnt tried this, lot less risky getting into this position I think. Same basic principle on weight tho. I really like the submission options from both too. I save energy and let these 20 year olds tire themselves out with my 190 lbs on them. Definitely not going to be making friends with this though.

  • @EzekielDBarrett

    How do you escape this?

  • @Slamminbassplayer
    @Slamminbassplayer Год назад

    Any solution for closing the deal on the paper cutter when your opp turns his head AWAY from you? I know you can do the whole “grind the face back toward you with the back of your elbow” move but then you are back to square 1. Not sure that makes sense but see initial question 😂
    Osss!

  • @MeroGrumble
    @MeroGrumble Год назад +1

    Regarding the defence, only arm reactions are addressed here. **What about basic bridging and rolling, or trapping the backleg, or just sitting up?**
    Akins' leg position in kesa really looks poor in addressing judo escapes 101.

      Just curious because I honestly don’t know, what distinguishes a technique as wrestling, sambo, catch as catch can, judo, shooto or jiu-jitsu? All these grappling arts seem to share similar techniques, positions and submissions.

    • @mrtselfdefense4185
      @mrtselfdefense4185 2 года назад

      Let's go ahead and admit that judo was developed as a safer way to practice jujitsu. Kano was genius in his ideas about training and technique, but competition rules are what truly distinguish the grappling arts from one another. Judo pinning as a path to victory is an example of how it differs from BJJ. Pure is hardly a word that describes techniques used in more than one art.

    Henry’s details add so much pressure from the side control. The way he pushes and pulls with his feet is fantastic! Biggest thing for me is keeping my weight to the same side of my legs just across his pec so I don’t get rolled.

      Gut your oppents body into four quarters when you are in this position you wanna apply pressure to the top two quarters mainly the quarter closest to you it's called 3 point pressure used alot in judo
      I just recently started teaching judo at a bjj academy and they all talk about my pressure it's something taught in judo learned it back in the late 1980s

  • @Kim-f6s7o
    @Kim-f6s7o 11 месяцев назад +1

    I have bought a lot of courses from Henry on his personal website and other instructors here on bjj Fanatics and I have to say that he like so many instructors need to have follow up instructionals or a question and answer session because their first instructional leaves so many unanswered questions to make the first instructional practically useless. For example, there are guard retention instructionals by big name instructors where they will show you all their so called amazing techniques but when you go on the mat you get passed and smashed because these instructors leave a lot of details out and they don’t show what to do about the what if’s that will arise.
