- Lord X? Xenophanes? Starved EGGMAN?! Many Sonic.Exe characters and mods were recently banned on FNF GameBanana. These include famous Friday Night Funkin' stars from Vs. Sonic Exe 2.5 / 3.0, such as Furnace, Curse, and God Z from the D-Sides mod. We talk about how the ban list went from characters with drama and controversy like Faker, Mid Fight Masses, Sky, and Bob and Bosip, to quintupling in size in 2023. Faker/EXE was unbanned after his creator's drama was cleared up, but it was banned again together with Lord x, I am unaware if Faker was unbanned eventually.
He was, every sonic.exe character was off the ban list, including Faker/EXE

As someone who's been in the EXE community since 2018, personally I can see where a lot of EXE creators are coming from.
Although they share the same character as Sonic, Mario, whatever, they're still completely different character-wise and the only similarity is a silhouette.
Given how some of us treat EXE creators, I feel like this was deserved, however I feel like people should stop rejoicing over these kinds of things honestly.
Sure, the ban list only affected popular EXE's who's pretty much been in every EXE mod, however creating these songs are not as black and white as taking a character, remixing the song, etc.
You have to make assets, you have to write a background, and essentially create entirely new interpretations out of a pre-existing character UNLESS it's just a restoration/revival mod, those needed to go anyways.
Rerun and Red Ring's takes on Lord X are perfect examples of how you can manage to make a unique song for an unoriginal character, aside from who's mod has him banned and who's mod does not.
Instead of laughing at the people who's honest work was lost, can't we just stick to blaming the people who ruined it for the rest of them?

Fair and I agree however I think that it’s a bit more than a silhouette when it comes to these characters. Focusing on lord x for instance he’s sonic the entire reason he’s “scary” is because he’s a messed up version of sonic. This goes for a lot of exes as well regardless of fnf. Popularity does not change the fact that the character is still in large part only popular because it’s an alternate version of another character. I think they forget as shown when they basically tried to copyright their characters on gamebanna. Aside from being legally questionable it was unrealistic to expect someone to check everybody for one specific character. It also doesn’t help that these characters were practically public property at this point considering how many people had implemented them into their projects. I write too but their on ocs their au characters if they want to try and claim sold ownership then they should remove sonic and Mario from the equation entirely. Of course they won’t because that would make their characters lose a defining trait.
The banlist was flawed. This option is better. I love Lord X, EXE, and Starved. Their concepts and designs are pretty cool, and I was worried I had to remove them all. Thankfully I made replacements for EXE and Starved, and I planned on removing Lord X altogether for Funkin'.EXE.
In case you're wondering, no. I probably won't scrap Lord X. I'm just gonna ask JoeDoughBoi's permission.

Giving some other info here, the reason why Starved Eggman and his bot Furnace got banned was due to their new creator making a new version of said characters so she didn't want thpse characters to be associated either with their predecessors and FNF anymore, even though the characters are now unbanned, the new pwner still disincourage the usage of the old forms
As for Curse, his ban was a misunderstanding, as their actual creator didn't approve the ban, so they only banned the old assets he had for the mod Vs Sonic.exe

I agree with people saying the ban list was stupid were right. Because like every single EXE is just a derivative of a copyrighted character, meaning they legally have no way to fight it in court if someone decided to use it. Not to mention nobody would've given a shit about their creation if it weren't for FNF. Literally that OG Sonic.exe mod was what gave shit like Lord X and all the other countless EXEs any relevance in the first place

Soulles dx for me feels diferent from other Sonic.exe mods like illegal instruction and while they have some exe characters in there they're not really the main priotity, tails doll is.

Did Revie request for Faker to be taken down? I thought Faker was forgiven and removed from the ban list after the whole true reveal?
Some people said that dumbie asked revie to put him on there but knowing why starved and furnaces ban I don't know anymore
I was assuming eggman and furnace were banned because of that thing on the news about the Year 6 drawing pictures of them.
Fun Fact:
Revie, the new Starved Owner, explained that Dumbie didn’t put Starved in. AveryAvery, who co-created the original Starved alongside Dumbie, and put him in without Dumbie knowing. And by the time Dumbie did find out, he was almost set in, and it was too late to pull him.

FNF modders thinking that they own an edgy version of Sonic or any other copyrighted character really shows you the entitlement and hypocrisy of the FNF community. Constantly deriving and using other people’s creations for your own but not giving that same courtesy to others. This type of immaturity is why the community has such a bad rep, aside from the more serious accusations. Stop listening to these entitled people and use whatever character that you want, and if Game Banana won’t allow it find another site or self-publish.
Not gonna lie gamebana definitely hates is consumers who make fnf mods.

i think the new idea (with what allowed, what you need permission and what you can't do) is much better that baning ALL exe's tbh. At least, it's will be like sonic exe mod where for an the exe of someone you was need his permission. Even though gamejolt and the google drives link exist (i say that because before, there was a rule who forbidden revival of illegal instruction and there was a revival on gamejolt before mod got uncancelled and cancelled again), that a better move than just banned the BEST exe's ever just for nothing
the only thing I didn't like that came out from this was people like joedougboy (creater/owner of lord x) gave permission to the lord x wrath mod to keep using lord x even when the ban list went up, and everyone decided that the best course of action was to try and spread rumors about the devs of lord x wrath and joe (+ other character owners) because they gave lord x wrath permission and other people didn't get it. I can understand being upset but some people just couldn't respect their wishes.
And this is why I'm wishing for this shitty community's downfall. Nobody respects anyone, so I've lost respect for everyone here in turn.

I personally agree that EXE mods are already infuriating and poisoning the community overshadowing the truly original and cool mods, but I don't understand people who forbid using their characters and are afraid that people will associate them with FNF. Like guys, let's be realistic, no one cares about your characters, they became so popular thanks to FNF and if not for this game, it is unlikely that many people would know about your character.

I'm on the fence about this whole issue. On one hand, it's good to let people express their creativity to its fullest extent. On the other hand, it's important to respect the wishes of creators as well. I can't say anything about most of the Sonic.EXE OC's present in most of Friday Night Funkin's mods, as I know practically nothing about them, nor do I care because personally I'll forever cherish the original over any other interpretation as that's the one I grew up with, but credit where credit's due- Xenophanes's creator, AstranomiconX, has been through more than enough harrassment just because the actual character she created doesn't match with the sloppy and disrespectful interpretation created for the original mod, and given she's already had a rough enough past with... Sonic.EXE's original creator, she doesn't deserve to go through what she's gone through and not have a little bit of justice delivered. Honestly, if I was in her position, I'd block access to allow use of my character out of spite too. It's only fair. At the end of the day though, this is the internet and you can't stop anyone from doing anything, as tragic as it is, so it's really all up to the goodwill of the people to respect Astranomicon's wishes, but given this is the Friday Night Funkin' fandom... I doubt there's much of that to go around.

i got in touch with a GB dev thanks to some connections i have, and it was worked out, though i think this was a tip as to why the banlist was modified

Most mods now are either dnb related or exe related and honestly I haven't touched the community in 2 months because of that reason until now.

It started with EXE getting cancelled because of Revie, THEN the whole MOD was cancelled cuz of the fact the mod developers didn't enjoy making the mod and putting updates to it but it was restored by other mod creators, THEN Starved and Furnace were cancelled because of how people were using them THEN Sonic.EXE's Xenophanes phase then SL4SH Curse and God Z and you can already guess who's next after hearing "God Z"! Yeah, it's Lord X you are correct. AND BECAUSE OF THE RULES FOR FNF VS SONIC.EXE RESTORED IS GETTING REMOVED AS A WHOLE which means Sonic.EXE is cancelled as a whole.

So far, the only "restored" mods that are well known are the OG Restored from last year, Exeternal, Illegal Instruction, and Re-Run, which recently had a leaked build.

@@jessicaruizcollazo2372 I just reloaded the page and my comment disappeared so I'm just going to cut to the chase -- Vs. Sonic.Exe Restored (OG) is more superior to the Last Round because of its history, the work being done on it (look on the wiki), and the aforementioned amount of songs which is 130+ (which including the amount of characters they are going to use in the major update and the DLC). So not denying that the Last Round is a masterpiece, but think about which one is more superior here.
Plus, Restored's major update coming out next month as far as I'm aware.

There are multiple ways to upload mods (GameBanana, GameJolt, Google Drive, etc.), however GameBanana is the most well-known platform for FNF. GameJolt has less restrictions, however, morally, the same rules should be followed :)

Unfortunately, the creator of the mod, AmorAltra, was exposed for multiple controversies (kinda complicated with lots of details). There are multiple documentaries about it on RUclips, which I believe talk about it pretty in-depth.
from what i understand, it wasn't even the original creator of Starved and Furnace that put in the request, but whoever owned them at the time (i think it was the same person who made Faker (fake allegations moment) but im not entirely sure, dont take it from me)
