I sorted out the camera angle, and snuck the k100 out this afternoon in between rain. I been wanting to upload a POV, but I found that I either never "sent it" enough, or something was wrong with the bike/camera. I made sure this was upload worthy. I LOVE it, definitely sounds like the engine out of a Flying Brick, with all the growling, whistling and sudden switch in personality as it enters the higher rev range. I love my own K100 and the sound of yours is magnificent! Not a fan of the squid part, but that's your personal choice. Stay safe, and hopefully keep having fun. You make great content!
That was fun, thanks for the ride! Since I was a kid riding my bicycle around NYC, I developed an attitude of "stop for what???" I brake for solid objects - not lights or signs. I don't do that anymore - I'm 57.
Ive been building e30s for years. Always wanted a K bike, your videos motivated me to start my own cafe build. Just bought a 1997 K1100LT with only 63,000 miles 🏍️
I've always fancied building one just for the interesting brick engine, I think this video has just cemented that ambition. Love your content btw, seems totally real and honest.
Hey dude, im from queens doing my build since last year and i wanna say thank you bc all of your videos definitely helped me thru my process and made it easier for me!
I came across an 85 K100 RT a couple years ago and stripped it naked. In doing so I put on a scrambler seat and cut down the back of the frame. I cut the stock muffler in half to match and it sounds great. These bikes have such a beautiful exhaust note!
Watching this makes me miss my bike. Once I'm back on good money, about 5 months time, I'll pick something up. Currently considering a Bandit 1200, XJR1300 or CB1300 as a muscle/fighter build. I'm 195cm or around 6''4" so that's why I'm looking a big bikes.

love these riding vids. Hopefully we’ll get one for the cb550 soon? The one where you rode it around and gave the story about how it caught on fire actually made me take the plunge to get into riding and get one for myself lol.
Oh nice congratulations on that. I dont know if you saw the latest build episode from 2 weeks ago, but theres some 550 movement in there. If you are caught up on that, I am still sorting out the timing chain issue that I left the end of the video on. I got the 550 engine back together and installed the new chain but common motor sent me the wrong one...waiting on that new one now.
Gettin it! She’s been sitting a while. Sounds fine though. Can’t wait to get back out. Still a month or 2 away. I decided over the winter I’m going to do a K bike. Just started looking for a donor.
This sound reminds me of an angry snarling beast at all times whether on acceleration through the gears or deceleration. Beautiful. Man, I wish you'd keep your gloves on. 🍻
sounds great... gotta get out on the open roads and let that thing eat... i got a k1100rs and everytime you come across my sub page i think i gotta turn that bike into one of these...
I would definitely be interested to see how this bike performs on a track. If I had space, I would pick up a second one and just restore it as a dedicated cheap touring bike.
Not gonna lie…reminds of my 81’ Honda CB650C that’s surrounded by snow in the shed!🥺 Same decel pops as well! Sounds magnificent!👏🏼 On another note… thought you were going in a wood chipper for a second! 🤣 I grew up in Staten Island as a kid, and I’m glad I don’t have to ride in that kind of traffic here in VT! Stay safe!
Damn not the snow lol, Watching the video back I actually thought about how sketchy riding by that chipper looked lmao. In the moment I didnt even think about it. Funny stuff.
The fascination has certainly worn off for me, but there is certainly a specific way to ride through this town, and theres alot of stimulation. High IQ stuff.
@@Theillestrator1050 agreed! You definitely need to look alive when riding in this kind of environment, and that urge to escape the traffic jam and avoiding getting hit is exactly the kicker! This reminds me of my learning days back in South America from where I am. Same exact type of streets but more traffic and road rage involved, plus an homogeneous mix of bikes raging from 125s to liter bikes scrambling between congested streets. Glorious!
Bro I love your bmw and the effort and depth you go into with it! I also wanted a virago or k100 and ended up with an xv920r, I searched for 3 years to find it. halfway through the build right now and was wondering if you ever planned on buying one and building it? I would love to see your process.
It sounds pretty cool. Revving high reminds me of some of the bikes in my favorite movies, the original Mad Max and Road Warrior. Those damp lines and streets get spooky on my 750 turbobike!
Lol, I find this bike hooks up pretty well when flooring it, but if you notice, If I decide to rev out first gear, I always shift up a gear before engine braking because this bike likes to lose all rear grip when engine braking from red line...stiff chassis, shaft drive dynamics I suppose.
@@Theillestrator1050 The automotive style clutch and flywheel are likely the culprit for engine braking. The shafts on those had double u-joints, best I can recall, which helped minimize shaft drive's pitch happy nature. Your SV had a form of slipper clutch, not sure about the FZ1. Pretty cool video.

Bike sounds like a Subaru after you switch to equal length headers. The signature Subaru burble comes from one header being longer, this is what they sound like when both the same length.
Damn I miss living in BK, I remember all those streets. Hart St. near the J line was home for seven years, worked on McGuinness Blvd when Blockbuster was there during HS. I wanted to ask, doesn't the reservoir by the throttle get in the way of your hand at times?
Dude love your bike! You inspired me to start my own K-bike cafe build, however, I have a K75 but samesame. Also, dig the jacket! What kind of jacket ya got?
God these bikes sound sweet. How have you been liking the throttle response of the Bosch K-jet? Do you find that it sometimes hesitates when you mat it? Theres a couple mods you can do to improve the throttle response on these systems, biggest one being loosening the clock spring in the air vane by 2-4 teeth. I can point you to a guide somewhere if it's something youd' like to play with. Its totally reversible. You can also upgrade to a larger unit from a VW or BMW car if you find the little one on the bike is choking it out. they're pretty much all intercompatible.
Well when I floor it its perfectly fine, only time it hesitates is when I blip the throttle over and over ( 4:50 for example) It never dies but sometimes the quick open close open close will make it bog but thats about it. I knew about the vane trick, didnt know you could swap the AFR from one of the autos, thats cool.
What is the exhaust configuration you’re running? Brand, details, mods? Sounds kickass! I’ve been wanting to build a café-racer for a while now and that k100 base bike looks and sounds like what I want to work with.
Interesting vid. Kinda weird not hearing u narrate something. Exhaust is way 2 loud 4 me, now in my older yrs, I need 2 protect my hearing.. Anyway, ride safe, god bless u.
Hi, I know that you've been done with this project for a long time but I just finished watching your build series, (fantastic work by the way!). I had a question for you regarding the air intake system on the k100s. I plan to buy one to build my own Cafe Racer in the near future and I am admittedly unfamiliar with the K series bikes. I remember in a previous video you had said that it is possible to separate the carbs so they have individual filters on any of the engines except the 2 valve versions. But I cant seem to find any information on how to do so other than poorly explained forum posts that just dance around the topic. Would you be willing to explain how this is done properly? I would like to be able to do separate filters because I really like the look it gives the bike.
He means the individual throttle body look. Sorry to say but I never worked on a 4 valve K bike and have never done ITB's I just know you put 4 pod filters on each intake and...i'm pretty sure its that simple. Check any web shop with BMW bike parts.
