I was a soprano 1 when I sang this I fell in love with this song
Me too!
Love this song!!! How often do altos get solos in a song? Never! But we get such a great part in this song, we get to take the lead!!! This is a beautuful rendition. I can remember singing this. *sigh* brings back so many memories. :)
My choir sang this and let me just say that the soprano part is super fun!
totally agree!
I'm a soprano and I love it!
I'm singing this sometime in a couple of months with my choir and I'm a soprano. I totally agree! it's nice to have a harmony and not the melody for the whole time. :D
As an alto, it was super fun to finally get the melody!!
I was gonna say that lol!
I was an alto for this freshman year and I still love it

I'm a tenor of a choir from a university in Brazil and I'm completely in love with this song.
I was a soprano of a choir in UnB. It's just a sweet song!
My choir is doing this song right now and I love it so much! We are a Bass, Baritone, and Tenor choir! As a student, this has been my favorite to learn. It sounds so great!
beautiful song. I love hearing and singing this song. The vowels are perfect. It's a song that makes you want to cry.
I remember like three or four years ago I sang this in my choir class. We sounded good, but this is epic!
one of my favorite songs we sang in choir!
I loved being in this choir! Dr. Galvan made this song so special for us
Greetings from Serbia, beautiful song.
I love this piece. I sang in it middle school and high school. I also worked with Dr. Galvan at the 2008 all State in Maine. She's great!
It's very nice when I see non-Jews singing a Jewish song and appreciating Israeli music. If only the world would appreciate Israel the way they appreciate Jewish music.
Sólo esta bella canción y cómo está interpretada. Para qué ir más allá?
we sang this in my choir in high school years ago. it was my fav. song out of that concert, but it wasn't nearly as beautiful as this groups. bravo!
Our concert choir sang this in my senior year. That was a great year for the Mehlville Choir.
Such a beautiful song. One of my favourites we ever did. ^_^
I love this peace! The first time I heard this song I almost cry.
I keep coming back to this; it is just so breathtakingly beautiful. As the world gets increasingly challenging, this magnificent performance always, always proves so soothing. Thank you!
Altos standing out beautifully!! I’m in 10th grade choir and I’m loving being a soprano for it. Altos just can’t stand out!
Honestly one of my favorite song to sing. My Concert Choir class will be singing this song for our Big 9 Music Festival! So excited! I am also an Alto but I love the Soprano part (I sing their part all the time outside of class, haha) :) Great job! Could hear all parts and blended so well.
I sang this at NH All State in 1995! Thanks for posting!
I'm a Bass II in our high school choir. I love this song. It is so beautiful.

Here is a link to the copy we purchased when I sang this in university choir 16 years ago...same arrangement as used here, I am sure. I imagine they would ship internationally? Oops...won't let me post the link. It is at World Music Press's Web site in Choral Selections, Middle East culture area.
ME ENCANTA!!! ES COKO MÚSICA ORIENTAL :)
ME GUSTA PARA SER UNA NANA
That is great! Have fun! :-)
je la chante avec ma chorale quand on anime la messe
Man, hard to find a tenor part that can pull this part off!!!
i sing high tenor in my choir and to be able to sing it is so much fun
singing this on wednesday!
Beautiful performance! Except I noticed y'all were saying "ba-laat" instead of "ba-let" which is the way that "balat" is actually said. Just a little note. :) We're singing this in our choir right now and it's one of my favorite songs we've ever done. :D
Does anyone know if this is the Klebanow arrangement? A lovely song made even more beautiful by the presentation by this fine choir.
My mother wants to do this for my Bat Mitzvah!
i sing this on tuesday! i'm an Alto as well (:
Good Job!!
@Colormexsad Thanks, i was totally in that haha
Thanks for this contact but in the meantime I now have some copies. I found out how to contact Janet Galvan and she very kindly found me a distributor. I am looking forward to trying it with my choir.
Can anyone tell me where in the UK I could get the sheet music for this arrangement? Drawn blanks so far. Does anyone have a publisher and catalogue reference? A beautiful song beautifully sung.
Inspiring
Hi Claudia. This lovely piece is published by World Music Press. Arranged by Jack Klebanow. Are you in England? I was able to order mine through Lindsay Music, 24 Royston Street, Potton - Bedfordshire SG19 2LP, UNITED KINGDOM. They were very helpful.
I love this piece! It's really wonderful! I would like to have a copy of the music and the piano score too for my choir. Is it possible? Thank you!!
There are some Serbian version, also beautiful...type - Olivera Katarina Shoshana
@elizateele My choir is going to learn this piece any pointers?
this is about as non-israeli as it can get. EREV SHEL SHOSHANIM- or night of roses is a love song
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever, and the fact that it's sung in Hebrew makes it even more charming. I can't see anything wrong with embracing different cultures, especially through something as divine as music. Just a quick scroll through the comments and I can tell right away how people from different places around the world love this song.
I hate it when they switch the 2nd and 3rd stanza. The 1st is about the evening, the 2nd, the night, the 3rd - the morning after. If you change the order you get a chronological mess.
Except it's actually "Laylah yored" The "I" sound belongs to the 2nd word, not the 1st.
moshehim it is pronounced lie lah if you look at the original music pronunciations
This song is amazing but they ciuld have done better with the dinamics
MrJsilar ... you mean dynamics? In what way exactly?
In The Beginning Was The Word
Some parts are more important than others, this choir had a really good blend, but lacked any contrast. Every part of this song sounded like the same volume. Therefore, with better dynamics, this piece would have been perfect.
