You thought about when you get money or extra to make curry? It can last for days. Or fried rice. Rice is cheap and vegetables you can get from pantries No shame in getting food.
No offense, but for the price of poptarts you could buy the ingredients for a nice meal. Rice is cheap and easy to cook multiple days worth at a time. Canned sardines or chicken breast is also very cheap and can be used for the protein. That would be a much better meal than just a sandwich or pop-tarts.
You brought lunch to work. Congrats, you saved money and you are being financially responsible. No shame, you are being good father and husband to the family.
A modest homemade lunch like that is actually something to be proud of. You know exactly what's in it and you are managing your funds appropriately. Thank you for showing that…..a brave man. That’s not miserable lunch for many people. You are trying to look after yourself and save for your family!👏👏👏 Well done.❤
Facts! I have been working with Japanese for a good decade. They're very judgmental of each other's lunches, and it looks to me like food is a zero-risk topic to socialize over with co-workers. Whereas if you discuss office politics, culture and so on, people will get mad, offended, etc.
really??? wtf, would they actually say something?? can you pls explain more....are they judging whether your partner made it or you brought it or if it is fancy or not?? this is so bizarre to me that adults would be so silly
@@jonv570 This is true. If it's ever discovered this is how he eats he will be judged negatively calling him low class and that isn't he image they want their workers to represent with their lunches. He would be so ashamed to the point of resignation. I've seen worse.
@@DigitalViscosity do you understand how absurd that sounds to someone from the west? I wonder what would seem equally weird to him coming from someone in Australia....
@@jonv570 Here's an illustration: when my husband made boxed lunch for our kid's outing, he was criticised by the teachers for the lunch being "too brown" and "lacking refreshing colours". He made it instead of me, thinking that as a Japanese person he can impress them better than I can. We also packed a whole apple as a snack, so the teachers were aghast because the apple was not neatly sliced and arranged, and anyway, we should have packed "proper snacks", a.k.a. popular low-grade junk food. That was in kindergarten. Later at school, parents also joined in and gave the same feedback, added by comments about the volume (too little). Lunch boxes are a real competition, a housewife-off in Japan.
There is nothing wrong with eating this lunch (which looks btw delicious to me) in front of your colleagues. I eat a similar lunch everyday at work (egg sandwich, coffee, banana). I think you would feel more miserable if you started to isolate yourself and feel ashamed of what you’re having. Try to practice more gratitude for having food some people would do anything to have what you've right now in your hand and treat the situation as a ((phase)) until things start to get better. Turn everything into motivation. I know it’s easier said than done, but I believe feeling ashamed and eating alone will only bring more sadness and pain. You will feel better once you put systems into place and work on the new plan to improve the conditions, sometimes we feel better not at the finish line but also while making the changes because we feel that we actually doing something and it gives this sense of getting the power back then this snow ball effect will bring more positive things. So be proud and eat it in front of them.
Making sacrifices for the betterment of your family is never something to be ashamed of. Considering how many people across the globe who should not be parents, I'd say you are worthy of respect for being a good father. There have been days in the past where my lunch was water and a piece of gum, and dinner was sleep and water. So your lunch looks delicious. I sincerely hope that you can get your tooth fixed soon. As tooth pain is no joke, plus a potential infection that close to your brain is never good.
I really want to cry seeing videos like this. My heart breaks seeing sincere and hardworking people struggle so much. It's also infuriating that so many people work hard but get paid almost nothing, especially these days when everything gets more and more expensive with each day. And the taxes seem to go up, but people are not paid accordingly. We are expected to work twice harder and twice more at the cost of our health and overall life quality. You shouldn't be ashamed of your situation. Things happen in life, but you are still a real man who works hard and you give all you have to support your family. Only those should be ashamed who dare to make fun of and belittle people like you. I sincerely wish all the good luck, success and prosperity to you and your family. I hope you always stay in good health. And I hope that this situation won't last long.
Don't worry about what other people are thinking about you my friend. They aren't thinking about you. They are thinking about themselves. There is nothing whatsoever wrong with eating cheap. Live for what is best for you not for someone else.

Dentist here.
You have a Japanese onlay. Get that recemented ASAP! Its much cheaper to fix this sooner.
If you wait longer, you will need extensive (much more expensive) work. If the decay goes too deep, you may need a root canal or lose the tooth.

The (horrible taboo words) dentists in Japan call patients back several times for their own material gains. I had to take my son to the dentist 10 times to get three milk teeth filled. Working people can't go to the dentist unless the pain is unbearable, because they don't have the time for it.

Welcome to the capitalist world.
That's all I eat for lunch. A sandwich. Sometimes, my lunch is just pop-tarts. My drink is water. I hate that you are such a decent and nice man and you feel less than what you are. Where I come from you are a normal great guy. I understand you. I spent most of my life worrying what other people think. Still do to a degree but the greatest gift you can give yourself is to not care what people think. It's work to get to that point but it's a relief when you do. You're one of many because we are like you my friend.
What a nice comment. God bless you ❤
I can relate
You thought about when you get money or extra to make curry? It can last for days. Or fried rice. Rice is cheap and vegetables you can get from pantries
No shame in getting food.
I love Pop Tarts for any meal.

A modest homemade lunch like that is actually something to be proud of. You know exactly what's in it and you are managing your funds appropriately. This man's titles are simply amazing. No click bait at all, just exactly what he will talk about. But his titles are catchy as hell.
Japanese often have a way of writing in English that is very satisfying to read as a native speaker. No nonsense, simple sentence structure, yet often profound rhetoric

Do not neglect dental care. Dental repairs only get more expensive the older you get.
What a stupid comment, he just said he can't afford it right now.
I'm denying all dental care, and all medical care, I want a strong life, full of pain tolerance, that ends so quick that I'm not sitting around wearing "lady pants" cuz I cant make it to the toilet yet my teeth are so perfect that I eat like a horse. Lady pants are adult diapers for women.

I like some of my coworkers, not all of them. When I used to work in the office (I work from home now) I went to my car to eat my lunch and listen to the radio. It was so peaceful and felt more like a true break opposed to eating in the “break room” and getting stuck in small talk. I also made a game out of making budget lunches I enjoyed, there was satisfaction in that.

Facts! I have been working with Japanese for a good decade. They're very judgmental of each other's lunches, and it looks to me like food is a zero-risk topic to socialize over with co-workers. Whereas if you discuss office politics, culture and so on, people will get mad, offended, etc.
what a mess in their heads..
really??? wtf, would they actually say something?? can you pls explain more....are they judging whether your partner made it or you brought it or if it is fancy or not?? this is so bizarre to me that adults would be so silly
Man, you are a true hero. A very hard worker that fight every days for his family. Don’t feel embarassed, be proud of who you are.
Agree, you are a real man providing for his family and keeping the ship moving. God bless you always. Keep up the great work.
