I needed this video. I can *never* get my reverbs to sound right. Valhalla gets me a lot closer, but some of these tips, which seem so obvious once you suggest them, are things I’ve never done. And you’re getting the sound that I’ve always wanted. Keep making videos like this!

Hey thanks! Glad you found it helpful. I did a similar one on delays if you're interested ruclips.net/video/7L_zWJtIt6o/видео.htmlsi=-Ecl99HRar9rJm-D

its funny how you increase/decrease the saturation on Softube's plugin, and the knob doesn't move at all 😄 I suppose it was some kind of a bug in the plugin UI 😏

@@vitaliivostrykov5173 yeah that bug has been there for a while for me now. I think it might be something to do with the Apple silicone as it used to work fine on my previous computer

I think you might need to automate that de-esser, as the level of ess in the vocal was quite variable. If you crush all the esses, you end up with "mithing" rather than "missing".

I hear you, and if that de esser was on the actual vocal I'd agree. When processing just the reverb returns you can be much more heavy handed with things like this - the actual s is completely unaffected in the dry signal so you don't have to worry about your vocal sounding lispy like that

Yeah, I go heavy with the de-ess on harmonies as well. Only really need to hear the consonants on the main vocal
