  • Class 08 shunters in action at various locations . Filmed from 2011 - 2019 at Westbury Eastleigh Swanage railway Avon valley railway & Bristol temple meads. I have added some pictures at the end from St philips marsh hst depot and some from Didcot Westbury Eastleigh as well .

    Full length trains, classic look and feel, no talking so you hear everything? Yep. Perfect.

      Thanks for viewing . There are many 08 still doing daily work Freightliner have them at Southampton & Ipswich they can also be seen at Eastleigh and many more places .

      Thanks for viewing . The class 08 is still a good shunter but they are being withdrawn from daily service so there not so many about they can still be seen at Southampton container terminal and many other places and private railways .

      The 08 shunter is a strong shunter the power to weight helps them move 2000 tonne ballast trains with ease .

      @@keynsham-trains Not a lot of horsepower but they have double reduction gearing from traction motor that is why their speed is so limited , traction motors will disintegrate above about 30 mph

    I used to work at a petro chemical site , we had a " Gronk " i drove it once !! Pretty cool experience amazing amount of power to see the rails flexing as the bitchumen train came past was crazy , as i worked the crossing

      @@keynsham-trains no , at the time I didn't even think of it !!!! I do now though , I think the 08 is still around the company was sold into another company its called
      Rail Management Services , started by John Hummel , he then sold it sadly John's not with us anymore I miss him 😢 ,oh its was an eye opener !!! We filled bichumen rail cars , the sheer weight n smells was fantastic to witness
      @Shell haven on the river Thames we worked , I drove the sentinel too I live that word !!! I love the sound of an 08
