    Burt Wilson, tenor saxophonist, lived in a wheelchair, grew up in L.A., moved to San Fran., played his heart out every time.

      Growing up playing tenor in Portland, I knew Jim really well, it was like I imagined hearing trane was like. I knew Bert (not Burt) Wilson too, what an iconic player. Taught Lenny Pickett how to play high notes.

      Read an interview of Bert reminiscing about playing with pre- Cream Jack Bruce who supposedly tried to make it as a Jazz bassist in the Seattle area gave up and went back to England
