- The rise of China and its deepening ties with the global South have catalyzed a reimagining of international relations. With BRICS expansion as a key driver, this session explores how China’s economic and political leadership is influencing alliances, transforming global trade networks, and challenging the dominance of traditional Western-led institutions in a multipolar world. Leaders from across the globe will look at critical questions shaping this transformation. How does China’s growing influence in the global South impact the balance of power in international governance, and what opportunities and challenges does BRICS expansion bring for emerging economies? Panelists will also examine how traditional institutions are adapting to these shifts and discuss the role smaller nations can play in a multipolar world dominated by new power blocs. The session will highlight how South-South diplomacy can foster inclusive growth and equitable representation in the evolving structures of global governance.

China the quiet achiever. China has been busy building its country and also many other countries. It has become the word engineering leader in infrastructure from highways , bridges , ports , high speed rail, dams , nuclear power plants , 5.5G etc etc etc.
Their cities put US and European cities to shame - very safe , non cash economy, clean , organized , subways, connectivity, excellent services from food delivery, cab hailing , package delivery, online shopping, bike rentals , malls , public toilets , schools/universities, hospitals , plentiful affordable food , 5G communications ( soon 5.5) , electric buses/taxis, low pollution, etc.
Just amazing what they have achieved in a very short time.
27:00 As of 2022, trade between China and Latin America reached over $450 billion, marking a significant increase from around $18 billion in 2002. China PRC has completed new MEGA port call Chancay Port in Peru for export to Asia multi-billions $$$ more goods Asia want from South America... in November 2024. Projected $900 Billion China-Latin America
While trade with AMERICA IS DWINDLING. 🤣
This is the most concise and well balanced panel discussion in years on the geopolitical realities of the world and the need for cooperation among nations. Every speaker played their role perfectly.
And the concluding remarks were on point that China's role is to counterbalance the power of the global north with the global south.
And based upon China's history of non aggression, support of weaker nations and non interference in their governance, there is growing confidence in the successful formation of a new multipolar world order in which every nation has an equal voice.
Mutual respect coming to the table without preconceptions and disillusionments that one is better than the other. Real corporation for mutual advancement not only the ideas but in honors corporation for making the world a better place.
Wow educated smart people truly understanding what humanity should be about.
The whole premise of this discussion from the viewpoint of the interviewer is both biased and flawed :
“How much responsibility do the actions or inaction of former colonial powers bear in making it easier for China to form these relations ?”
What a bizarre question.
Why is the conversation about making it difficult for China to cooperate with Africa in order to further its development, as opposed to the West forging its own, effective relationships ?
If your whole intention is to act as a spoiler in a reactive fashion, rather than to participate constructively and competitively, then you are bound to fail.
That China is interacting with Africa symbiotically in order to seek optimal outcomes for both parties, as opposed to the West, which has historically acted in order to suppress Africa so that it remained weak and unable to defend against ruthless resource extraction dooms the West to failure in today’s multipolar world.
Also, the very language “Spheres of influence” is totally outmoded, as it implies that given geographic zones are owned by one great power or another, to become their exclusive “sphere of influence” : the insulting idea of the Monroe Doctrine.
China trades with everyone and cooperates with everyone, regardless of whether the U.S. or the EU or Australia (note : all “white” nations, and so often, Anglo-Saxon nations) view a given region as theirs by right.
China is rising. All Countries should develop. All the countries must know how they are going to the top. If their innovation is excellent country should learn. Countries should not make derogatory statement and try to present them (China) negatively.
Leave china alone. The west 😂
For China's non-interference and the defense of sovereignty directive of other Nation State.
Very good panel discussion. Very impressed with the leaders of these smaller countries.
My only complain about this discussion here is that for some reason there's some time limit imposed on it when the conversation is not just interesting and exciting to say the least but so important to extend and continue. Why on earth and where is this rush to end it or even put a time limit on it. Does somebody have dinner reservations somewhere or what. It seems that this is something that needs to be continued non-stop and clearly shouted and shown to the rest of the world especially since the ones not involved in the discussion are the ones that you really hear this out because their methods and way of imposing their will needs to change.
Barbados prime minister is very articulate and smart.🙌👍🙏
Great video. ❤❤❤
