England may very well be the MOST STUBBORN and NARCISSISTIC country on Earth!
Like a true narcissist, they (and the rest of the Western European countries) made a big mess of this world and instead of "cleaning up" their mess, "they" prefer to, --- "cover it up!"
Just an observation. ✌️😐

Also Indians should thank and pay to the British for helping them avoid complete conversion to Islam. British put an end to Islamic Rule in India and thats the biggest favour they did to Indians.
Another excuse can be “My great grandfather stole the artefacts. I didn’t steal. I have just inherited the family heirloom!”

Without the BM these artefacts would have been destroyed or looted and sold on the black market by the warlords controlling these countries the British civilised in their empire-fact!

I live in Germany but many Germans are not aware of the barbaric things done by their fathers. Germans still occupy lands in Africa just like the British and French. Europe today is just better but its still the wine in a new bottle
well they could get it out of the museum but not out of these respective country as that would violate major international laws.
ah but first you have to get caught
Send Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan as Don and Dhoom to loot the heist 😂😂😂
As a German, I am proud that our government is giving things back from the colonial era to the peoples who were hurt by our ancestors. I wish all countries would return looted art and follow the German example.
The west counts hitlar in the super villan list for what he did to jews But potreys uk and Churchill in good light inspite they did the same throughout centuries to india and Africa. Is it Cause they are in the winning side of ww2 or black life doesn't matter . So all the west are resist hypocrites .
One of the things I like about Germans is that they atleast have the decency to recognise & educate their people about historical wrongs. Whether it's colonial loot or WW2 crimes unlike Japan that still doesn't apologize for it's war crimes nor do they teach their next generation about what really happened in WW2. Many Japanese still think they did nothing wrong which is a very dangerous mentality going forward. Same with British like the video above said, Britisher don't acknowledge their wrong doings, dont teach their next generation about it in history textbooks nor they apologize for literally killing more people than Hitler. Yes, British killed more people in India alone than Hitler ever did. The Bengal Famine being one of them & incidents like Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. That's just India, god knows how many they killed & oppressed in other colonies in Africa.
So I like Germans for that. They have basic human decency & respect for other countries & cultures. You can't fix what has happened in the past but atleast you can acknowledge it & show some remorse & we can all move forward without any hatred in our hearts
And maybe someday the UK and US govt.'s, and others, will return all that they looted from Germany after WWII.
@@ZhongliBIGPPit was worst what japan did But then what 🇺🇸 did is the greatest sin till entire human history. That's why usa first should be apologetic to entire civilization for nuking innocent citizens.

The countries we are seeing poor today should have been the richest if they were not robbed of their wealth.
Heart of heart even today the British are doing the same thing to us immigrants. One has to pack and settle in tge Western dominated societies to see how they run organisations. Nothing honest about this privileged society. It is a virus that they themselves need to cure as it will be discussed in 50 years how we still are controlled by this lazy lot.
Yes. Poor countries need their museums, not food and foreign technology.
In 1750, India had 23% of the world's GDP because it had 25% of the world's population. However, Britain was already a wealthy country even before it colonized India. If we look at the per-capita income of India and Britain in the 1750s, Britain's per-capita income was three times that of India as per Maddison's data, and India's per-capita income had been declining for a century before Britain won the Battle of Plassey. Comparing the total GDP of India and Britain in the 1750s to argue that India was richer than Britain is like saying that Uttar Pradesh is richer than Goa today. Later, the Industrial Revolution occurred in the Western world after the Scientific Revolution, with the invention of machines and technologies like the steam engine, and their wealth increased exponentially. Meanwhile, India's global share of GDP dropped to 4% in 1950. The same thing happened in China, which was not directly colonized. In fact, China's per-capita income was even lower than India's at the time of independence. During the 1750s, China's per-capita income was higher than India's. Therefore, if we say that Asian countries are poorer because of colonization, then what happened to countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Ethiopia, and Liberia, which were not colonized? It's worth noting that Nepal has a similar history and culture to India, yet it is the poorest country in Asia. The fact that Nepal was not colonized by the British undermines the argument that colonization is solely responsible for a country's level of poverty. For more information about this topic watch Indian historian Zareer Masani Oxford speech about colonialism.
@@jeanettewee8805 If Nepal, Bhutan, Ethiopia, and Liberia were colonized, they would have been much better off now, gaining a technological edge.

There are also many foreign cultural relics in the Forbidden City of China, but they were not obtained through plunder or improper means. As a Chinese, a history enthusiast, and someone who wants to promote the friendly development of bilateral relations. I hope the British Museum can return cultural relics obtained through unreasonable channels. A good museum is not about having many exhibits or priceless items, but about being able to face history squarely and having a clear conscience.

The nature of the current faith of the peoples and the owners of these movable artifacts and antiquities is not sufficient to protect them. We know very well what happened in Afghanistan of monuments and statues in Buddhist temples, and it is not excluded that such acts will be repeated, so it is better to preserve human heritage in safe museums.
You use an extreme example, a one-off, which invalidates your point to begin with. Besides which, theft is theft. The stolen artifacts need to be returned to their original owners, regardless of trite rationalizations.

Being on the wrong side of history and refusing to right the wrongs even after almost a century is so shameful. What gives these criminals the right to speak about democracy, sovereignty , dictatorship or even anything remotely connected to morality ?
So when is India going to stop using slaves or is it different when it comes to that?
@@secondchance6603 You are correct to point out there is pockets of chained labour (which is slavery) which happens. Needless to say that's very illegal, the govt cracks down on it, and it also a social taboo. But there are remote pockets where this exploitation happens and when discovered is all over the news.
Since we are talking about slavery, we have to admit the slavery is ripe in the west in the form of modern slavery. Some of it happens in the form of exploiting migrants without status, be it children or adults. This modern slavery in the west shockingly is a big part of the economy, and is an accepted social practice. The govt looks the other way, and the topic kept out of social debates. Everyone knows it, but everyone denies it. So don't hold your breath for this to be addressed anytime soon!
@@Lets_Be_Real_UK "You are correct to point out there is pockets of chained labour (which is slavery) which happens."
Pockets huh? India has most number of slaves globally. India has the highest number of slaves in the world, with estimates ranging from 14 million to 18 million people.
Those sure are some big pockets.

This is essentially how the west runs it's campaign of "we are a better society, and we are not the villain who killed more ppl through colonisation than both world wars combined". They are running away from the fact that what they did is multiple orders of magnitude worse than Nazi Germany; but don't have the decency to take responsibility.
Germany in contrast as a society has the humility to accept the wrong doings of the past. The west complaining about things is like a convicted serial killer complaining about the lawn not moved. The word hypocrisy doesn't do justice in this case.

Left to Indians the Taj Mahal would be a pile of dust now, it was only Viceroy Hastings love of Indian architecture that saved it. What would have happened to these artifacts had they left abroad? A guide in Egypt told me he didn't want Cleopatra's Needle to come back or the obelisks in New York and Moscow, they are a good advertisement for Egypt. There needs to be a discussion on the restitution of stolen artefacts languishing in the bristish museum.
Thieving brits that deny this are also the benefactors of the £45 Trillion loot, yet India's economy is now the 5th largest in the world.
