  • A fairly old recording that I found in my cassette basket this week. I had never done anything with it, but It was fun to have a look back at all the parts. Links here 👉 withkoji.com/@... I hope to finish this one, adding a new vocal layer on track 3 that should go alongside the super-lazy guide vocal that's there already, or simply replace it altogether.

Love the way u say garage... The 688 is so fancy with the parametric mid-eq... I'm still in the stone ages with my Tascam 488. Been loving your stuff on Spotify. Keep up the awesome work Sleeping Orchard.

Haha, like “Garrij” 😆. I love the parametric control, the 488 is still a beast but a shame it misses out on that! Thanks so much for checking out the stuff on Spotify, that’s really kind of you 😊

Took me way too long to check out your RUclips. I thoroughly enjoyed this!

Ah thanks man 😃 I wasn’t sure if these long videos were too boring haha. I’ll keep doing them though 🙏

I like the feel of the vocal on this and I’d probably keep it given it was all done at an earlier time. The vibe is there IMO. Maybe send some things to a slap-back or something with the tape echo during mix down 😍

This sounds like a good idea to me! I think a cool slap-back from the tape delay could make it sound a lot cooler, but keep the laid back vibe. Thanks so much for your comment 😃

Thanks David 😃 It was fun to do a very standard blues rock but in a really sloppy, lazy way haha.

Fun excited really enjoying the music making process.. Thats what its all about eh. Enjoying it. Not going back to tape personally, but I might be inspired by the approach, reinvigorated (is that the right word?) a 40 something xGen to get back in the studio and make some joy.. ✌🏻

It is the fun part!! I hope you have a lot of joy in the studio! And yes you can definitely apply the same things to digital recording. I still have the same approach when using my computer, focussing on a live performance feel, simple mic’ing and resisting edits and clicks etc.

I think I’d keep the vocal as is, works well with the feel of the track. Reminds me of some of Becks early stuff. 🤟🏻

Oooooh! Nice, I’ll check out some of Beck’s early stuff and see what I can steal 🥷
