Gran Turismo 2 Intro (US Release)

- The intro to the US release of Gran Turismo 2 for PS1. Would say that this is the best intro of all 3 of them. Not saying that the EU & JP intros are bad, they're great aswell. It's just that this song makes the intro more... memorable, if you know what I mean. :)
Song: The Cardigans - My Favorite Game
Oh, and just as a message to those who say that this intro isn't "real" or that it's "reworked": I ripped this intro straight off the Arcade Mode disc from a US copy of GT2. No changes made to it, uploaded the raw output file on RUclips straight away.
Every time I played this game, never skipped the intro.
I know what you mean, brother.
I literally used to reset my PS1 to hear it again. lol
Not on purpose...
Same
Same😂😂
Just ripped the audio from this video and made it my ringtone.
My dad died last week, this was our favorite game when I was a kid. I'm 19, this takes me back.
God bless man.
The song is cut up here. It's called "My Favorite Game" by The Cardigans.
death is not the end it's just the true beginning
That's awesome man, I can relate. RIP.
Sorry for your loss man, this was my fav game too played it for years
20 years later, and this OP from GT2 is still more fire than any OP from any other video game or anime I've ever watched.
But Bladed...
Where is the Miata?
How about gran turismo 4?
Huh?!
I grew up with gran turismo 1 and 3 but sadly we never had 2. I bought 2 a year ago and love it. The opening is the best I have ever seen. Gran Turismo 2 needs a remake!.
Agreed.
Lol, bladed here, so cooooooool
If your here it’s because you had a awesome childhood playing this game!
Ohh i had bro!! I cant complain about anything at all 😊
Definitely. Really wish my brothers cared about the intro, because they kept skipping it every time we started up the game.
You're damn right I did!
I remember my dad used to work extra hours at his work and I would hardly see him when I was a toddler. Well one night I was about to go to bed but my dad came home early (would usually come home around 3:00AM and go to work at 12:00PM) around 9:00 and I was happy and I'll never forget he had a bag and in it was a PlayStation, gran turismo 2, and a memory card. Let's say my 4 year old self stayed up all night playing that game. This is actually one of my earliest memories of my dad cuz he was always working when I was a little kid
I got my ps1 when I was 4 too.
I have a similar story. One night, I got up for a glass of water and my dad was playing gran turismo 5.I watched him until he noticed, then played for a bit
PulledPork yo I remember when I was a lil kid one day my dad came home with a plastic bag with a PlayStation, gran turismo and crash bandicoot, I remember we used to play those games back in the early 2000s. I will always cherish those moments :)
I got a Playstation from one of my cousins, and Gran Turismo 2 was one of the games that I recieved with it. Fast Forward to today, that Playstation is long gone. But I still own that copy of Gran Turismo 2. I recently got a Playstation 2 and 2 Memory Cards, 1 for PS2 data, the other for PS1. Popped Gran Turismo 2 into the disc tray, and relived some of my greatest memories. Rally on Tahiti Circuit just hits different for me today.
I love this game
This is the most iconic Grand Turismo intro for me ever. Its the only one I remember from the GT series growing up. Hearing it to this day still send chills to me to this day. Whoever was the person or team responsible for putting this together, if you ever read this just to let you know you made art in its best form and really did make something memorable. I'll never ever forget this for my entire life. Thank you.
If you have such strong feelings about this intro, maybe you will enjoy the piece I made.
@@bamraineyLet's see
@@Martin_Speed Links are not allowed, so I hope you know where to look :)
@@bamraineyNot bad. It's actually quite good.
I’ve always said finding the perfect song for an intro whether it’s a movie or show or video game, it’s something that will have a huge impact on the fans and go hand to hand on making something so memorable.🙌🏼
Memories.. I want to cry. I was 7 when I first played this. Still play it at nearly 22 years old. Some things never change. :)
+shinedown1993 haha, wow. Started playing GT2 at 7 too. Still play it occasionally, will also be 22 soon (In July).
Was 7 too!
Same man, same
gt2 was the best one to me
+Louie Allen It wasn't the best one out of the others, its the best racing game ever!!
This still rips so hard. The leaves, Cardigans. The game, the nostalgia. It was almost 23 years ago. I feel old. 😢
These were fucking great times.
Yes, long ago and when I was much younger. It started with the first Gran Turismo and immediately as a casual PlayStation gamer I got hooked on it. My first car bought for the first Gran Turismo was a used 92 gray Honda Prelude. I still have races from it on a memory card😄
Then Gran Turismo 2 came out winter of 99 and this song was immediately a hit with me. Opening up the other tracks were whip cream on it all. But OMG all the cars and the added tracks blew me away. I was a Gran Turismo 2 junkie. But it also ran at a time when Speedvision was a cable tv channel. And I was as much a Speedvision junkie too.
Anyways my favorite cars on GT2 was the Oreca Dodge Viper GTS -R and the Toyota GT-One.
I'm older now and don't game as much. But I still run a PS2 and have Gran Turismo,. Gran Turismo 2 and gran Turismo 4, as my main racing Games.😎👍
YES
This... This is... My entire childhood...

Sad
I was too young to be good enough to pass the licences. But the rx7 was my favorite.
Some of the cars on this intro actually look very realistic
+Matty Bell I was like, "Damn, them reflections!"
twas the point of the game........ "I wanted to make the most realistic driving simulator" -Kazunori Yamauchi (or somethin along those lines)
it's the lighting that makes the realism and polyphony digital has always been a master of lighting
camera angles are always spot on specially on replays. what you see here, you can see in game when you finish a race.
i want to play with that graphics even today. I know its just upped PS1 assets via PC, but damn.
OMG! This song brings back so many memories!
This is why your one of the best RUclips creators
Hello there

The Best Intro in Gran Turismo Ever
+Jairo Cruz GT1
I kinda prefer the remix version from EU-version, it sounds better along the intro!
The US-version is still great as well with the original version of the song! ;)
Gt4
Gt4 too
GT1, GT3 and GT4 were decent too
Oh man the memories, every time I would play GT 2 I would let the introduction play through because it was so awesome.
Same
Me too, whenever I played by myself. My brothers didn't care a single bit about the intro, so they kept skipping it.
It was such an epic feel seen all the car names and brands flash rapidly on screen ... DLC didn't exist ...
Doing a 100% completion and unlocking that LAST thing
ikr
such best feeling lots cri
when games came out 100% complete.
dlc sucks
Actually, this game was one of the first massive commercially rushed releases. We actually got GT2, EXACTLY, 97.3% completed. In fact, there's still files in game for cars that were taken out last second due to licensing or anything else. The real early copies of the game even featured a game breaking glitch that couldn't let you 100% finish the game.
Ohh feel the nostalgia in the air
the only time the US intro was best intro
The goosebumps.. duuuuuude
yyyyyeeeeeeaahhhh broooooooooooooooooo
The game that solidified my love for cars. This intro will always be the best intro for me for Gran Turismo.
Still the most legendary intro in gaming history. Played for hours as a kid, and just recently I dusted off the old PS1 Slim and logged another 50 hours. Such an amazing game. Might not be much compared to today’s racing games and simulators, but to me it’s a timeless classic.
I remember I used to watch this every time I booted up the game, just to see the XJ220 at 2:17... ah memories, I miss that kind of excitement video games used to bring over those little things.
Can totally relate to this post :D
dude... me too.. holy fuck goosebumps
Why not play it when you miss it? I still play Gran Turismo 2 ALL the time, I've played it since release, hard to say how many hours I've got on it :D.
Ik jusst hoping to copy it in a race
GT2 made me want an XJ220 in the real... fast forward to modern me and I saw the price for one of (the relative few) in existence, quickly dropped that idea ha
39 people disliked because they lost there favorite game
Haha for real! XD
lmao XD
*their
That's too bad lol smh...still have mine sitting on my shelf
21/12/2018 or 12/21/2018 59 people lost their favorite game.
Can't believe it's been over 25 years and to this day this one will forever be one of the most iconic intros to any game
I’m so blessed to have been born in 93 and grew up with an older brother whom introduced me to Gran Turismo
this was the first game I played for hours, but all I got out of it was encyclopedic knowledge of cars and their history.
+Joshua Lopez Damn it's true, I've also learned (my horrible) english playing all kind of games for hours, then people says videogames are a waste of time.
@@MyDiabolicoTwin Absolutely same thing! Cheers from Russia.
I never skipped the intro. This is a masterpiece
This one made me cry 💔
How i miss old days..
It’s ridiculous how much this video means to me
Decades later, still gives chills 🥶
Damn, my childhood... Played this when I was 12...
Played it when i was 4
And I still do
This intro is Gran Turismo 100% racing game that you will remember forever! Those hourly tournaments lol!
I see some in their early 20's and late teens talking about how this takes them back. I'm 29....ya'll make me feel old! This was my first PS1 game, and I still have it.
Classic!!! Im turning 30 i remember playing this game for the first time when i bought my Ps1 and it came with a free Demo with alot of games and videos!!! Best childhood memories!!!
I'm in my 20's as well, and I got the first GT when it came out in '98, and still remember it! ;)
I also got GT2 when it came out as well in 2000…
and I still got them along with my PS1 which still works fine after all the years… ;)
Just played it a few minutes ago!
It's great!
27 , this was my first real ps1 game as well
Hello, how’s 37 treating you? You still game as a hobby? Hope you’re doing fine!
One of the greatest Intros of all time, in my opinion.
Yes
I definitely agree with you; Panama from the US GT4 intro also is in my best intros list, but this one never gives away the top spot.
This brings back a lot of memories
GT2 was the game that ignited my love of the Nissan Skyline
Mine too, especially the Calsonic Nissan Skyline that appeared in 1:17.
Love this intro. Never skipped it. Was really hoping they were going to put in the movie, it was still awesome nonetheless
This was one of the first games my dad and I bonded over. I'm lucky to still have him in my life. I cherish this game and this song always reminds me of him.
Times when intros had put love into them,They were so straight yet had much Adrenalin.
Wonderfull times.
Yrs later still gives me chilla
Nearly 2022 and this intro still gives me goosebumps!
I Don't know how many times i've come here and watch this video... but it's like the same day i saw this intro for the first time as a kid, feelings and emotions don't change.
I wanna play Gran turismo 2 Again like the old times :)
I always sucked at this game, but damn this intro kept me playing it.
1:22 as a kid I always loved the stratus jumping cuz my mom had the same year and white one when this game came out. Such a random car to pick for that part but I love it haha she always raced me in 2 player mode and whooped me 😂 memories
Bless you an ur mom bro
Nostalgia everywhere TT-TT
1:53 thats my car now :)
One of the best videogames intro ever made... Missing the 90's :'(
I remember playing this when I was 6. Being 18 years old now, this shit is a huge throwback to my childhood. I miss the heart that Gran Turismo had in all their games
#MakeGranTurismoGreatAgain
hahahah true!
2022. That hashtag has been realised.
Memories and nostalgia, I used to play the 99 lap races with my brother, we would have a competition for the fastest laps. I miss those times when we got along well.
Lyrics of My favorite game:
I don't know what you're looking for
You haven't found it baby, that's for sure
You rip me up, you spread me all around
In the dust of the deed of time
And this is not a case of lust, you see
It's not a m
Atter of you versus me
It's fine the way you want me on your own
But in the end it's always me alone
And I'm losing my favourite game
You're losing your mind again
I'm losing my baby
Losing my favourite game
I only know what I've been working for
Another you so I could love you more
I really thought that I could take you there
But my experiment is not getting us anywhere
I had a vision I could turn you right
A stupid mission and a lethal fight
I should have seen it when my hope was new
My heart is black and my body is blue
And I'm losing my favourite game
You're losing your mind again
I'm losing my favourite game
You're losing your mind again
I'm losing my baby
Losing my favourite game
I'm losing my favourite game
You're losing your mind again
This song is my nostalgia hit of the day. Long gone are the days of having 2 games and sharing a broken PS1 with my siblings, but the memories will always be there.
God if this isn't one of the greatest intros to a video game ever I have no clue what could be. This things has my palms sweating itching for a race.
I was so little when I played this ( I think I was 2 years old), I remember it so well. The game was left on and I decided to play, I was driving the yellow alpha romeo touring car on Grindelwald and I didn't know how to slow down, and then I ended up in a hairpin turn barrier.
Thank god I found my PS1 a few weeks ago.
Hahaha cool memory! ;)
I also got GT2 when it came out in 2000…
and I still got them (GT1 as well) along with my PS1 which still works fine after all the years… ;)
I just played it a few minutes ago!
It's great!
The game changed everything! Still holds up pretty damn well. I remember getting ps1 just for this game. Then ps2 for gran turismo 3. Got it for christmas with gt3 bundle. Man they were so ahead of their time. And simulation racing.
1999-2000 there I am crying in Walmart for my mom to buy
GT2 again because of the intro with this song. Brothers swapped games with friends and never got GT2 back and I'll never forget making a damn scene in Walmart for that damn game. Fast forward to Limewire days still as a broke child wanting this damn song so bad on my Fingerhut MP3 player.
Man the memories. This is my childhood with no Memory card and restarting the game over and over for this intro. Iconic
This is the first game that my dad bought me when I first got my PlayStation as a kid I'll never forget it as long as I live. R.I.P. Dad I love and miss you so much.
I've never had a PS1 but somehow I still get nostalgic vibes by this
This is something that gets to me almost any time I see it, most of it is nostalgia. This game (as well as the first) were my introduction to video games and the world of cars. This is what started it all for me.
This intro never fails to bring tears to my eyes
Saturday morning's nostalgia overload. Back when life was so much more simple. I miss the 90's ❤
16 years and i still remember this intro by heart
OMG YES! Thank you for posting this! I loved this so much as a kid! 😚 I remember always trying to do that perfect skid at 2:05 in rallys and could never quite perfect it as beautifully as they did. 😜
Damn... GT was the king back then :,)
We truly did lost our favorite game to forza lol
@@abusaeed22 gt sport shits on forza 7
well GT still the king now
has 11 years.. i played first time this game, with my brother, he show to me how play and i am gamer because he.. THX BRO!
I cry over this. I remember how i played this on my ps1 with my brother. These games ruled our lives. We were small kids that days. Now we are adult and i have R34 GTR and R35 GTR, and brother have Mitusbishi Lancer EVO8 MR❤❤. Now we live grand turismo in real life😊.
Back in my high school days, i used to skip the intros to most of my games to get it on asap...but this game joint rigjt here, was an exception...used to get it right after school, weekends, holydays, and every chance i could...talking about a game addiction.😀😁😊😇👍✌👌💪
Maior franquia da Sony, esse sim é o verdadeiro Gran Turismo, pura nostalgia.
Happy 20th anniversary Gran Turismo 2!
Fuck this gives me chills...all these memories from when I was 6 when started to play this on my PS1...time to dust-off my PS1 and get to some GT2 again...I HAVE to relive this.
I got GT2 when it came out in 2000…
GT1 as well, got it in '98 when it came out!
and I still got them along with my PS1 which still works fine after all the years… ;)
I just played it a few minutes ago!
It's great!
;)
you might want to remove those winky faces..... kinda gives off a wierd vibe. but I get what you mean.
and Xgamer I totally get what you mean. I have had my ps2 hooked up for a year bc I couldnt find gt2 and instead played gt3.
Everytime I hear this song at work it takes me back
I swear this intro music is burned into my mind, i played this game so much as a kid. Its honestly why i even love cars in the first place, I wonder if The Cardigans know how much nostalgia this song gave so many people. that guitar never leaves my head i swear
Such a stellar opening! Still holds up great after all this time :)
This game was my introduction to racing and cars thanks to my older brother. It's crazy to think that some of these cars were just brand new at the time and showcased on here because of the fact they they're new now over 20 years later are now revered as automotive legends such as the Honda S2000, R34 Skyline, Dodge Viper GTS, etc. I doubt any of us that were there at the time had even the slightest idea that some of the (then) brand new cars we all saw in that intro would have such a profound impact on car culture today.
Makes me wana wipe the dust off my ps1 and slam this back in
Dont do that!! you'll fuck up your good memories... because you're used to see all these 4k 60fps games nowadays and when you back to your old play 1 you'll see and say: why did I used to play this crap... trust me, keep your good memories!
This happened to me when I tried to play 007 goldeneye on N64... I played like 30 min and was so frustrating
Played some crash bandicoot and grand turismo , still good for me , maybe the 60fps 4k hasn't ruined me yet.
I have Gran Turismo 2 on my phone for this reason. I know I'd hate it on my big TV, but on the little phone it's pure nostalgia trip.
+j zt Screw frame rates as a 90s (or earlier) gamer you should beable to handle it. To this day I think this is the greatest Gran Turismo developed it doesn't need 60fps and HD graphics just a Dualshock 1 and skills. Plus low frame rates only suck for newer games.
Watching this makes me want to cry. So many memories of a better and simpler times that is never going to come back.
Nostalgia overload. I don't think i've even heard this song or seen this intro in over 15 years. I feel old.
Most greatest epic intro in racing car history
I love to start my iRacing session by playing this song. This game has a special place in my heart
the first 8 seconds still gives me goose bumps
The amount of time and energy spent in this game growing up, was insane one of my all time top 10 games ever played.
This is baked into my high school memories. Every-time I hear this song on the radio I perk up.
I love this game so much! I don't know a lot about this game and when I have done this game and played in this game I've understood that this is a super game. POLYPHONY digital, thank you so much.
I just saw the intro of Gran Turismo 7 and is really good... But this... This is perfection.
As a mexican kid without cable or a computer this was one of the first times i heard music that wasn't mexican pop, ballads or traditional. I remember being like 6-7 years old and complaining to my parents that i didn't like music whenever they put on their CDs or the radio lol. This intro shaped my taste of music for my whole life.
To my dad.
Rip guy cause of you I'm the Gran Turismo Driver I am TODAY.
RIP DAD.
1947-2003
BOUGHT THIS GAME for me in 1999 for me.
Long live Gran Turismo and the memories we all have of our 1st race day in 1997.
Thanks KazYam
This gave me such a flash back to middle school. OMG. The memories!
This game is the main reason I got into racing games. I love this game.
Oh damn. Watching all the GT intros in a row make me feel like connecting my PS1 to the TV and starting Gran Turismo. But, where the hell is my GT2 discs?! Can only find my GT1 disc lol
I lost the career disc for gt2 but I still have the career disc and my ps1.
OMG WHAT IS THIS SONG, IV'E BEEN LOOKING FOR IT FOR 12 YEARS
read video description....
My Favourite Game - The Cardigans
I randomly heard this song in a suitcase shop and I thought "hold up wasn't this GT2?"
Pure 90s nostalgia. Fantastic intro that I hadn’t seen in 15 years. Have a silver S2000 in the garage and just now realized the subliminal messaging from the first 20 seconds of this video probably sold me on that car a decade ago. No regrets
1:20 I forgot you could race a goddam Dodge Stratus in this game. Of course it's getting air in this shot....
This intro was made with love
Omg..just wanna cry. First game I owned for the PS1. Good times
My dad owned this when I was a kid. I’m 29yo now. I would and could never get tired of hearing this song. Unfortunately he passed away last year. Now whenever I hear this I’m damn near in tears from the hype, enjoyment, thrill, and because I miss my dad and my childhood.
This brings back my childhood 😭
When I saw this intro for the first time on my ps1, my jaw dropped.
:') My god, this intro is still so damn epic, brings tears to my eyes. I only with that the new one had as much might as this old one. This was my childhood game right here.
Услышал эту песню в какой-то подборке из детства, и тут сразу флешбекнуло о GT2
2024 and I still remember the day I played it for the first time... still in my bookmarks!
It's hard to watch this intro and not cry. So many weekends playing this on my grandma's house.(my mom didn't let me play videogames at home). Back in 99 00s with my 11yo, while my father was in his office in my grandma's house working and while I was playing this waiting for my grandma to finish the lunch.
I counted the days till weekend so I could play gt2 again. Now, looking back into the past, my father now has the same age as my grandma was when I was a kid, 78yo. My grandma's unfortunately not here anymore. This is the kind of video that give me chills. Takes me back to a period of time that we had to worry about nothing.
