  • InZoi, known by some as the K sims game, is certainly taking a different path than the sims 4 or even life by you. This new gameplay preview from the developers shows city features, car crashes and driving, sleepwalking, character customization, reputation, karma, relationships and much more. inZoi is an open world game with an edge of drama and danger- and it's panning out to be one of the most intriguing upcoming simulation games.
    I'll discuss my opinions, review the features, and express some concerns I still have for a game that's supposed to launch in 2024.

      Nah, Paralives is still hitting a lot of my hitlist with their feature list. InZoi I am still fairly ambivalent about (it could go either way om game release once I see the playerbase with it). Not being able to edit the world, not just my house, is a big strike against it. And LBY flips between being very user fliendly and overly complex at the same time with every video they post. None of them have yet hit that perfect sweet spot where I am like ‘this is the game’.

    what i will say is their team seems very large, they seem to have a lot of artists/animators. i do think once a lot of stuff is coded in, adding things like new group activities will pretty much just require new animations and maybe some new models. with the size of the team i can see them knocking that out easily. i do think they work fast

    These features will attract a MUCH wider audience. People who would never ordinarily play life sim, let alone a dolls house like The Sims 4, will play this. No only because there is ACTUAL gameplay, but because there are things like car crashes, negative interactions (I'm sure there will be THOSE players who set everything on max just to see how many slaps and fights and car crashes and fires etc they can get into). This will attract a MUCH, MUCH wider audience than The Sims ever hoped to attract.
    And the developer is an experienced role playing game dev. This looks like being MORE than just a life sim - it will also be part role playing game - progressive reputation, accidents. That's why these things are being added. This game will attract role playing game players.

    • @fransmith3255
      @fransmith3255 Месяц назад +2

      I reckon that there could be a great cross-over of roleplaying games and life sim. Roleplaying games with life sim elements would become much freer to play, much less linear. Life Sim games would become much richer in gameplay with the things the player does becoming much more important, affecting gameplay much more and each character progresses. I suspect that InZoi will have a MASSIVE impact on the both the life sim and the roleplaying market for this reason... This might even end up a newish mix of genre, similar to how city builders and fighting games have become mixed.

    • @SimmerErin
      @SimmerErin  Месяц назад +1

      I'm not sure., I think the audience will be shifted and maybe ? pick up some GTA etc fans, and leave behind some to many in the sims community too,
      there are a lot of factors to consider: for one, we don't know how complex or deep the gameplay or personalities actually are. There is no doubt the features sound compelling to me- but the early access demos demonstrated a rather lackluster actual gameplay. However it's all very early yet- so it's hard to know

    • @fransmith3255
      @fransmith3255 Месяц назад +1

      @@SimmerErin For The Sims community perhaps, but I'm not talking about only The Sims community - The Sims community is pretty tiny compared to gaming communities in general. I mean real gamers in general will be much more attracted to this game for these types of features. Simmers seem to live in a bubble, forgetting that there is a massive gaming community out there, forgetting that they really are a very tiny game population in general, and assume that they will be the only ones interested, lol!! These games will likely attract people from the general gaming community if they are good. Not only Simmers.
      No we don't know much about the personality systems yet, any more than we really know about personality systems from the other games. They haven't really addressed that aspect of the game yet. But as it stands EVEN NOW the personality system is looking AT LEAST as good as The Sims 4. The Sims 4 is pretty incredibly poor, so it's not going to be difficult for even the most basic Alpha standard game system to be as good. I expect other games to be much better, this one included.

      @@p.bckman2997 its less about the cars for me and more about there actually being a travel system. Like they already have confirmed subways so you don’t have to own a car just because cars exist. And in the early review copies, they already had traffic going. To have that exist and deny players the option of owning a drivable car would have put them on par with Aims 4 and behind every other life sim coming out, all of which have ownable drivable cars confirmed for launch.
      Also having the choice to own a car is a win for the game. And I want more than cars long term, I want vespas, skateboards, bikes, public buses. The thing is once your game is actually routed from the beginning for street travel, you can build on that. Its why Sims 2 implemented ownable cars smoothly, the means to do it was already in the base. Sims were already using cars for travel in the game, it was just the carpool and service sims, but the the pathing and means was there. The ownable bit just literally connected to a system already in the game.
      As for occults, programing usable cars have nothing to do with Vampires or any other occult in the long game as they are a build on humans. And this was true for Sims as well, all of them. You usually need to get the normal people going first before you figure out how to introduce and implement occult variants to that. As its a build on the base human model so you need to get that system out to people first and make sure it works in all the expected ways.

I want to see more fleshed out about traits-first gameplay. It'll be interesting how world settings trickle down to affect individual personalities without it feeling arbitrary and completely opposite to individual personalities and how they should be expressed. I wanted cars in Sims 4 to drive in scenic locals. Like on a coastal highway, mountain valleys. Not so much city driving - that is a pain in my posterior in RL. But resurrecting an avatar through reversing the timeline... Hmm. I don't think you can have a multiplayer experience if one person in the group goes puff into the past to resurrect. Two hours of interactive play goes puff, too. If not the person would have to be thrown out of the group. Most players would be pissed. The family reputation thing effecting a family line, is an Asian thought and does exist. Still same as in all small towns now. There is always "that" family. Another thing, Sims 4 and all Successful Simulations require one thing - building. Building is a time consuming thing and keeps you in the game until some new DLC drops by. So if it doesn't have that kind of building opportunity then it may be nothing more than a short lived MMO type game. The game with all these elements would still be a Cloud experience, I expect, in one form or another. Since Clouds games allow you to control and force monthly fees. TY for the update, Erin! 🤟🖖

    At first, seeing Inzoi for the first time based purely on the graphics I was thrilled and excited "I can't wait to play Inzoi!"
    but that died down when I looked at the gameplay and all of that and it looks pretty boring. "Mainly job" focused, etc. Just seemed like it was more focused on looks then gameplay and having a fun experience. So I've been rooting for and waiting for Life by you instead. I do love the AI feature of the game. I am curious about the whole "crime and chaos" level of the game.
    That being said, damn....I might have to get this game along with Life by you. Still skeptical, I'm also skeptical of Life by you, but just like Life by you, Inzoi does look like it's coming along.

    This could be the Sims killer, unless they make some huge mistake (like high system requirements or an expensive subscription). I don't know how much of their audience EA needs to lose to take their ball and go home, but probably not that much based on how they terminated the Sim City franchise, the original backbone of Maxis. If InZoi takes 30% of the market and the others take 5-10% each, I expect EA to fire everyone working on the Sims and never mention the lifesim genre again. It wasn't like nobody bought SimCity, I had it in my EA app and could play it, but EA just stopped caring. It could happen again! Remember, development costs are the same whether you have 100% of the market or 60%, but the net profit is vastly different.

      so far, this hasn't been confirmed for console (or mobile) then you have to factor in the likely dramatic difference in spec requirements. many will also be split on the graphics style; finally, I have already seen many turned off by things like crime, car crashes etc. And there is likely not be any supernatural or fantasy gameplay- and it also may not be whimsical. So while undoubtedly I do think it'll impact the market, I don't think it's a "Sims Killer"
      if sims dies off, it'd be by its own choices- imho

    Hoenstly, the game feels like it's a complete and utter mess in terms of its development. I've seen a lot of games go through similar development cycles of the devs using very choreographed videos to market the game, and then create a whole bunch of features, make a ton of promises and lack a complete sense of "wholeness" to the game - having little to no actual direction. This game will come out in a messy, unplayable state and then the devs will keep making promises about fixing it. The worst case scenario is that this is a similar situation as that one Zombie/Survival game that came out and was a complete scam.

    To be honest, it isn't gameplay what they have showed to us int latest interview. It is just bunch of animations. Some we have seen already in the past.
    It looks cool and all that.
    But the gameplay would be, if we see the actual playable loop. Like get up morning, go to work, go to gim, go dating, go eat, go to bed, etc.
    I personally stay heavily reserved on Inzoi, specially they aim on Early Access late this year. And gameplay has not been something they have really shown yet to us, or focused on.
    Performance at this point is also concerning to be honest. From recent job listings, I don't see them focusing much on performance. They need solid core Unreal5 C++ developers, to bring the performance up to pair.
    Also, it is a shame, they focus so much on American towns. All tv is showing mostly these. Many games showing these. It is boring.
    Korean has great opportunity to market and show their culture through a game. Basically wasting it.
    The Witcher series executed this very well. No any westernization was needed.
    This exotic appeal of Korean culture is just diluted, in the game development direction, in emphases to the western world. It is really a shame.
