I was at an opening last year and as we waited round outside this car drove up, a young woman got out, hung round a bit and then came over, stuck out her hand and said, "Hi, I'm Jacinda." One or two security men in suits 50 yards away in the background. We chatted for 10 minutes and then all went inside. I liked

PM Jacinda Ardern rocks my world. She is as attractive as she is smart and I'll never forget how quickly her parliament reacted about that mass shooting event to ban assault weapons. If only we had someone running this country that could move so swiftly when such calmnities occurred. I would like to add that New Zealand is an amazingly beautiful country and on my bucket list for vacation getaways.
It was all sound and fury, did not do anything to prevent any further attacks on vulnerable people in NZ. They fell down on the job, Ardern actually relaxed requirements for guns the year before, allowing people to fill in an online form instead of attending a police station to obtain a semi-auto and her government voted down a weapons prohibition orders bill based on sucessful Australian legislation. The weapons orders probably wouldn't have stopped Tarrant but the earlier change possibly assisted them. The guns were illegally modified and there is and was nothing done to prevent guns falling into the wrong hands. They rushed to that because admitting they'd failed and that the murderer was out there in plain sight was something they couldn't do. There had been a number of red flags pop up about the guy, including people at a gun club reporting him to the police because of the things they were saying. That was duly ignored.
What they did do well was the empathic response to the victims, being a woman and allowed to comfort other women in their time of grief was a huge asset. Otherwise they don't even know what GDP is and have been stumbling from one disaster to another and are currently embroiled in another sexual assault scandal involving a Labour staff member after the intern debacle and the sexual assaults of young people at the Labour Youth camp which has just been to court.
FYI since the other person mentioned Rotorua, Kerosene creek is worth a visit, on the way out on the way to Taupo about 45min drive. It's a geothermally heated stream with a waterfall and well worth a visit and is completely free. Do take care to make sure you have belongings secure though, there's been a lot of thefts there and tourists can be a target for thieves. The smell in Rotorua isn't too bad and your nose adjusts pretty quickly to the sulphur smell. You'd also be wanting to see Waitomo caves, and if you get a chance go black water rafting. Done that and it was awesome.

Interesting that since she banned MSSAs in NZ... only a matter of weeks later, four people were killed by shootings in south auckland in separate incidents. Yep... she really sorted things with a gun ban ay? Law abiding gun licence owners were totally fucked over by this, and the naughty ppl with guns are still out there shooting, ... with illegal firearms, as they have and always will. No problem solved at all.

I'm from Australia. I'm not particularly pleased with our current government (although it could be worse) but our smaller sibling in Oceania is showing us how it's done.
There was even an Australian poll in early 2019 based on multiple facets/policies/personalities of Australian politicians... for some reason, Jacinda was included in the poll.
She won that poll... By a significant margin.
She is truly a leader that leads by example.
Our current leader once held a lump of coal in Parliament and beckoned that people "don't need to be afraid of it".

Our members of parliament generally get rides in the crown cars (a fleet of big BMW sedans) but there are a couple of old epic cars in the basement. One is only used for the queens visits apparently but it’d be good to get it out! And yeah our country is so chill that I got talking to one of the staff there randomly and he took me through the beehive and showed me the queens car 😂😂

I love how small New Zealand is. A previous Prime Minister (Helen Clark) was the parliamentary representative for my local area. She used to come to our school at the end of the year to hand out certificates at Prize giving. We all loved Auntie Helen.
