I think one of the biggest problems back then was that a lot of the record execs were dismissive of hip-hop on a mass scale, so it was usually put on the back burner..

I remember when I was stationed in Cali and my buddy that I used to always talk about hip hop with was telling me about Breed's new album that had just came out and he a few songs with Tupac and I think with some production by Warren G. Immediately I thought he was saying Breeze because Tupac & Warren G was associated with the west coast at the time. After about 10 minutes into the convo I realized that he was talking about MC Breed and we had a big laugh about the confusion. I really hate that Def Jam and others shelved his project because the T.Y.S.O.N was a great album and that his next album would've took over.

She’s a snake. I remember when Shannon (Let The Music Play) recorded her 3rd album on Atlantic Records. She was the executive producer & all until Rhone was hired by Atlantic. She came in changing Shannon’s album up so much that Shannon left & went independent..

It's a fact that atlantic records didn't promote all their rap acts in the early 90s...Even when the records were in the stores..I was working in the records stores in Atlanta then and putting up tapes and cds that no one talked about even when their promotion people came to the store.
