Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

Great interview 👍. Legendary dope Mc. T.Y.S.O.N. Was the best album ever made. I still have that on 💿 use to had that on cassette but still have it. On 💿. King Tee , Ice Cube, Breeze " played like a Piano" one of the best Track off Of King Tee's 2nd album. Breeze killed it on that track. On the last verse he said "when you see me I wear a beanie and not a Kangol" and cube was laughing in the background while Breeze killing it and "now you got played like a F'n piano". I think he slick dissing LL Cool J On that lyric when he said Kangol and then cube was laughing in the background. That's what I was wondering if Breeze was slick dissing LL

I love this interview so much. Always great to hear the late, great Mix Master Spade get that love, and King Tee as well. "L.A. Posse" was 100% my isht, and I still get hype whenever I randomly hear it. Shout-out to Stefon!
Also, I found it funny when Breeze was talking about the East Coast rappers clowning N.W.A. for cussing, and mentioned how what they were doing kinda gave him the permission to "express yourself." As Dr. Dre rapped in the N.W.A. song "Express Yourself": "Some musicians cuss at home, but scared to use profanity when up on the microphone." I don't know if that was intentional on Breeze's part, but if it was, it's damn clever.

Truth from beginning to end . Loved the fact he gets a chance to tell his story. So happy that people recognize that Breeze is one of the greatest rappers who really didn't get his just due. He should have a catalog of music .So super talented! He was born to rhyme he had the looks , the charisma and charm plus talent he checked all the boxes . Russell saw that and I don't care what anyone says he knew that Breeze would gave Ll a run for his money so he signed him so no one else would and shelved him so he wouldn't be ll compition. I believe this with all my heart. Breeze has the goods. I hope he knows that he has fans waiting to hear his music.

I once heard that before LL dropped BAD it was supposed to be Breeze to be the main artist on Def Jam with LA posse. They went with LL and that’s why LA posse produced that project… so I always wondered that when Breeze said on played like a piano “when you see me,I wear a beanie and not a kangol. now ya got played like a fucking piano” if he was dissing LL because of that…
