    Im mostly into heavy stuff, and have been practicing vocals for several months, I realized that until I get things done the way pop singers do, I won't be able to get good with more compressed sounds like Sound Garden. Ed Sheeran really does magic, I feel like his style is like the basics every singer has to go through

      Yeah, dude. That's why I'm here too. I feel like if you take Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington and add heavy cream, you get Ed Sheeran. I'm not sure what that means but I think you understand.

    Ed Sheeran is one of my favourite pop artist. He have also a very rare voice. I think He is a baritenor so He has a baritone larynx and a tenor vocal chords. Becouse He sounds rich on low notes and light on high notes. We can see this difference in the song "Dive". He starts with an E2 a little in fry and in the main part of the song He did an A4 with a lot of strength. He have such a beautiful voice thanks for making this video!

    No, no is a great way to discover mix coordination. It makes the resonance go inward toward that spot. What a exercise man! I'm going to start using it in my warm ups. It took me almost a year to figure out mix. It just takes lots of hard work and dedication which is what a lot of students lack. If you want that sound you have to do the exercises but once you build muscle memory your voice will naturally start to gravitate toward that spot instead of your throat.

    This was really helpful! I’ve always been interested in Charlie Puth’s voice. He can sing as low as a C2 but belts up in the 5th octave. I’d really appreciate if you analyzed his voice sometime.

    • @bingbong2179
      @bingbong2179 3 года назад +2

      Hey, I'm also a fan of Charlie's music however I'd like to point out a few things about the C2 that Charlie hits. First of all could you link to a video where he does this because I can't find any. Also, most likely the quality of the sound he makes at such a low note would probably be lacking in resonance and character. Most tenors, tend to not develop their low notes as well and if they practice a tonne they might get some good resonance around like F2 but C2 really just seems implausible. The only way he's hitting a C2 is with vocal fry which anyone can do and isn't particularly hard to do in terms of making sounds in the first and second octave. It is hard however to add musicality to it. Also his belting around C5 sounds kinda strained to me, like he's having to push a lot to get there, which is understandable but ideally you want to get to a point where it's as effortless as hitting like a C4 (this is the sign that your voice is comfortable and well-adapted there). Keep in mind, I'm also just trying to learn how to get better at singing and I personally am nowhere near as good as him. Not trying to knock him but it's important to know what sounds are healthy/should be strived for. Hope this helps

    • @calumgoetz3718
      @calumgoetz3718 3 года назад +3

      @@bingbong2179 It was in some random Instagram live. But I actually get what you’re saying about the whole straining thing. I can’t tell if he’s mixing or just straining while still sounding good.

    • @calumgoetz3718
      @calumgoetz3718 3 года назад +2

      @@bingbong2179 btw I remember the C2 sounding very chesty, and almost as if he could’ve gone lower. I think most tenors drop out around a G2-A2. And baritones aren’t really expected to sing below an E2 anyways

    • @bingbong2179
      @bingbong2179 3 года назад +1

      @@calumgoetz3718 Even though it might sound chesty I'm still very doubtful. You simply don't find anything but basses singing with chest down there and Charlie is most definitely a tenor if you listen to his typical range. I can't be 100% confident however as I haven't heard the C2 myself. In this vocal range video they only have his lowest note at G2. OFc that's only from his recorded songs i think but still. It's pointless to continue discussing since it probably won't be resolved.

    One question,
    If I'm still developing my mix voice (not developed enough to be able to sing songs inix voice effortlessly), is it advisable to actually sing?
    Or should I refrain from singing, with the concern of not wanting bad habits to 'cancel out' all of my training progress?..

    Please, what your thoughts on Paolo Nutini’s singing? Does he belt or mix? I guess it’s belting, but why does it sound soft? Soft yelling) he definitely goes high with real emotions, without taking it easy on his voice, every time singing as if he is singing the last time

    My whole issue in this regard is that only female singers attract me, but singing their songs is so hard to do, thus it makes me sometimes think i'm not good, however i know that i can sing just because like it when sing other stuff, it's just not what I want, and that's why don't what to sing, and that's why i asked you the other day.

  • @Iflowedliketheriver
    @Iflowedliketheriver 3 года назад +2

    Do you think a bass baritone like me can achieve a little this vibe? The problem for me are notes like D4 and E4 becouse if I go into my chest voice sounds too loud. On E4 there are also my last passaggio. I can belt also on notes like G4 but are unhealthier for me. Have you ever teached a voice like me? Do you think that with my mix I can sing around D4,F4,G4? My goal actually is having a good sound on that range.

      It would be better for you to stick to your range. As a bass baritone myself, G4 is the limit of my sustainable chesty mix.
      But to most people it sounds just as powerfull as those A4-B4 money notes.
      I can lighten my voice and sing A4s but they take a more heady mixed quality and vowel modification means that i will deviate from what original songs were meant to sound like tonally.
