42:04 The comments of Pope Leo reminds me of a story that an immigrant from the Soviet Union told me. She was able to escape and was first able to immigrate to Argentina in about 1948. There the milk man would cry out "Leche" so that people would gather to buy milk. One Argentine woman said to the immigrant...Won't it be great when communism comes and the milk will be free, to which the immigrant replied ...When communism comes, there will be no milk.

Great summary. I knew Fr. Bokenkotter and received a signed copy of his book. At the time I wasn’t aware of Modernism, but only made it through the first 20 pages before I trashed it. You could say he is the reason I began my search for the source of how what I learned had been turned upside down. Is there any plan to do a series on de Chardin and his other modernist cohorts?
Re: the State and education, also since 1945 (post-WW2) the State dictates the atheistic, communistic curriculum via UN/UNESCO, even in Catholic schools. It's horrible.
Hi Daniel. A couple of things… 1) Kindly respect your audience enough to upgrade your microphone. Improving your communication will increase your audience while simultaneously making you easier to listen to. 2) If you sit in front of any solid color wall or cloth, especially intense blue or green, this will enable the chromakey function in your video editor to work much better. If your chromakey function has a ‘feather’ setting, try it out, as it may help with ‘edge jumping’. Good luck with your channel, and cheers.
It's unbelievable how little Roman Catholics know about economics, politics, history and metaphysics. If you understand how the financial system works, you would understand why we no longer have Christendom.
The Enlightenment is what weakened the state and allowed it to become a government ruled by merchants. Republics like in Venice, turns the state into a product merchants can rent or buy.
Dan, did not Napoleon snatch the crown from the pope and crown himself and then his queen Josephine? There is a famous painting to support this detail. In it the pope is very much on the side as if outdated and outmanoeuvred.
Hello Stephan - I've heard this version before too, but an official account I had read from closer to the time period said that Pius VII did coronate him in the traditional manner. I've seen other sources say that it was arranged that Pius would hand the crown to Napolean who would respectfully crown himself. I'll look more into it, and let me know if you find anything concrete on the matter.
@@historiaecclesiastica Thanks, Dan....All I can think of at the moment is the painting by David, but possible as you say it is not an exact photo of what really happened, but an artistic impression. Was there not opposition to Jansenism even at the time of Jansenism? I think that there was opposition to at least some Jansenistic ideas in the early period of Quebec? The churches built were highly ornate, and although the sermon was in French, I think that the rest of the Mass was entirely in Latin with a bit of Greek. Possibly there was a bit of Jansenistic strictness when it came to other things such as fasting. Were not Jansenists very strict about fasting and prayers? Or am I confusing them with another group? Did not a Jansenistic priest "convert" La Fontaine toward the end of this life? They might have done some good.
Does one have to say that he agrees 100% with transubstantiation? What about real presence? Is that not good enough? As to how, how are we suppose to know for sure? I believe that Christ is truly present body and soul, but transubstantiation stricts me as a bit too mechanical.

@@jims512Thanks, but possibly you misunderstood me. I do not have a hang=up. I am pleading for all the Catholics who before Aquinas believed in the true and full presence of Christ in the Eucharist, but did not know anything about transubstantiation. @@stephanottawa7890 There are many other examples like that. Doctrine develops over time and as long as it isn’t contrary to reason or what has already been revealed then I think it’s possible for the Church to propose something that wasn’t thought of in that way prior. “Transubstantiation” is a theological term whose reality was already present. It just simply takes time for the Church to develop the explanations for it. It’s similar to how the Bishop of Rome wasn’t always called the “Pope,” but we do so now. The reality is the same even though many of the externals have changed because Europe is so different compared to the time of the Early Church. I referred to it as a hangup because it’s esoteric and shouldn’t be a stumbling block if you believe in the reality
@@jims512 I still maintain that one can believe in the True Presence of Jesus Christ without the need to ascribe to the concept of Transubstantiation. It is not necessary and actually not a complete metaphysical understanding of reality.
