I love seeing Olympians & Gold Medalists Phil Mahre & Bill Johnson together again. What Phil said, "Once a teammate always a teammate" is so cool. Had I known about event I would have gone, skied and told everyone. How do we not know of these types of events to help one another? Sorry I wasn't there for you more Bill. You inspired me and so many others. God Speed buddy. Aloha always from an old Olympian in Hawaiian Islands.

+Jett Rink A class act, there was no quit to the guy. I think about him often and will miss his presence on our planet. Good job, bro.

The Kaiser Franz Klammer called Bill Johnson just a runny nose little kid, Then Bill won Gold at Sarajevo in 84 and 3 more classic world cup downhill's that year. Bill Johnson proved that the U.S team could win the European classic downhill's on any given day. A true legend, with a heart of Gold. RIP friend..

    Dear Big Timer,
Bill Johnson is an Olympic champion who beat the best skiers in the world. That is a fact. And even if what you say about Johnson is true, and I'm not sure that it is, then that makes his accomplishment even more remarkable.

I had a chance to talk with Phil Maher the other day. He reports that Bill is not doing very well. Let's have some positive shout outs to this great American champion. Phil noted that every Little Leaguer knows who Babe Ruth. We skiers have to celebrate our champions. (BTW, Babe was a drinker, it only added to his rep.)

@whydontwealljustgive Bill's health continues to deteriorate. He fell and hit his head last year which further aggravated his motor problems. But he's still a gamer, never gives up.

@BigTimer541 Maybe, but look what he accomplished. Talk is cheap, especially anonymous talk. You call yourself a Big Timer, but have you ever achieved a breakthrough as significant as Bill Johnson's? It's easy to criticize, but thinking takes some effort.

What's your point? You have never screwed up parts of your life? He didn't crash because he was drunk or stoned.
In the world of competitive skiing, very few have ever won Gold medals and I will bet that you don't have one in your trophy room.
