This model was my first RC build. I had a couple of friends who saw mine and wanted their own so one bought a Midnight Pumpkin and the other a Lunchbox. Used to spend hours racing each other. Great build, lot's of fun.
Nice to see this video, I still have mine, but with the cassis off the Monster Beetle. It is the same, but with oilsuspention, and a Dynatech Gold 7.2 V 33.000 rpm engine. The model is 21 yr old but runs en looks like new. Great work from Tamiya.
I got mine in '87....spent God knows how much money getting the damn gears to stop stripping and the infamous dogbone halfshafts replaced with the Thorps. I think I spent more time taking the thing apart and fixing it then running it. The funny thing is by the time I worked out all the weak spots in it, I lost interest in RC cars and took up bass guitar. I still have it, last ran it three years ago. I'm paranoid if I break something I won't have the time or patience to fix it like I used to
It was definitely a love/hate relationship with my OG Blackfoot! I bought one right after this cheesy commercial came out. After about TWELVE sets of plastic hex driveshafts, and 3 sets of gears, MRP finally came out with the ball diff and metal dogbones. LAST time I had to take apart that gearbox!
i remember getting the Clodbuster size rims, where you can put either Clodbuster tires or 2 Blackfoot tires on each rim...but i only got 2 rims, no tires lol
hey i remember this! bf was my 2nd r/c ever! they make it look so good in this video lol! I remember the back didnt have dog-bones and wore out in 2 hours, other than that it was awesome!
@raceman73200 lmao. I'll take the new stuff all day long. I have a Slash 2wd that I bought when they first came out. I've since converted it to brushless, and so far, I've only ever broken one drive shaft and stripped a spur gear -- and the truck almost 5 years old!!! Wheelies on command, 20+ minute run times, and waterproof!!!! Welcome to the future.
should work! Magnum JR....hot stuff! Modified brushed motors are cheap now and I put one in my old Blackfoot and fed it some lipo power...I have a vid of it!
you can see how crappy the front suspension is by the way the tires change direction when it compresses. I moved the steering links on mine and it works much better
i use to have a blackfoot back in the late 80's awsome truck i saw one for sale at this hobbie shop but it was te blackfoot plus or something is not the original one. laters
dude i wish i had mine still but i saw one for sale the other day but i really wanna get the lunchbox i think is the same motor and chassi if i'm not wrong take care your blackfoot your still runs good?
Does anybody know where to find parts for this car, i have the EXACT one like the video at home but i need a rear wheelhub and drive shaft for it.. otherwise it's in really good condition..
mike galia some lipos and a brushless motor in one of these would be awesome, not sure if even the CRP shafts would stand up to the extra power though.
GTiR23 lol you better have a stash of Xtra parts. i still have my orignal Novak T-4 & T-1 . ESC's. and a Futaba 2-ch. radio i use only for my - nostalgia cars. but crawling is my new attraction.
Let's see.... Stripped out dogbones -- check! Broken speed control resister for one speed in each direction -- check! Shitty friction shocks -- check! Plastic bushings throughout entire truck -- check! Chassis made of impossible-to-glue "special resin" -- check! 1200 mah nicad battery -- check! Okay, I'm ready to go out and have a mediocre time for about 4 1/2 minutes before my next complete overhaul.

remember the days! what an awesome truck this was - and still is!
they sure knew how to make you want to go out and buy these cars
Upgraded the coil suspension to the ultimate yellow plastic oil filled shocks! Missed those days!
Never have I ever had the fun with a r/c truck like I did with my Blackfoot in 1987. I kept it till 2004!

Great work from Tamiya.
I still have my Blackfoot from 1988,I cut grass all summer to be able to buy it.
my first truck kit was a Black Foot. what a great truck. i wonder if parts are hard to find now. thanks for the video.

That thing was the shizzle. I had one as a kid and put ball bearing diffs in it, and oil shocks on it. Wish I still had it.
my neighbor has this and a lunch box back in like 87 and i was like 8 and LOVED them, i bet i would think its slow as balls nowadays tho, im 32

this is so cool tamiya has the best kits
One of the only FORD vehicles from the 80s still running
I still run mine today and its still awesome cant take big jumps though LOL
This is when RC truck where fun to drive. Nowadays they handle like Cadillacs.
I just got three of them from a friend and he bought them brand new in 1988
I would love to have one of those.
should work!

niiicccceeeeeee sweeet a promotion vid theese are awsome
lol, thats awesome... I still have mine..
Thaws old commercials are the best
I wish i kept mine, they look so fuckin cool!
@reanimate280 The black foot is actually a native american name
you can see how crappy the front suspension is by the way the tires change direction when it compresses. I moved the steering links on mine and it works much better
You just made my day XD
lolol alot i reckon! I went through about 5 pairs in a couple of months when i had a Mud Blaster!
i use to have a blackfoot back in the late 80's awsome truck i saw one for sale at this hobbie shop but it was te blackfoot plus or something is not the original one.

my father got a "monster beetle". it's the same chassi. do you knw where he can get the h-parts of it?
the dogbones would have exploded by the end of this run...such a heartbreak
@reanimate280 It is probably named afetr the blackfoot american indians
Did tamiya ever test this thing? Everyone who had one, stripped the rear axles after about 2 runs.
i have one i got it from my dad lol im only 19 and i have like 3 other black foot chassis and frog parts
If it had DOGBONES it would have been reliable. It had hexagonal shafts that stripped out!
Let's see,
If they re-release this truck with an upgraded divetrain, it will sell like Poland Spring...
"CHECK" and check-mate!
you cant even hear what the guy was saying, the music was drowning him out..
grea Movie!
@TheHughjorgann just get one of the rereleased one
i am
but im not someone who was not interested in the vintage times of this
Does anybody know where to find parts for this car, i have the EXACT one like the video at home but i need a rear wheelhub and drive shaft for it..
otherwise it's in really good condition..
Mommy, can I have one? I want it so bad.
whats the stock speed for a blackfoot?
i just bought 2 of the orginal ones not the re-realse
it has the same chassis as the frog
How come my king black foot shocks are as stiff as hell 0.o
It doesn't sell it now.
@TheHughjorgann just go to ehobbies.com and look up rc tamiya blackfoot
the musics too loud and you cant hear it
I went through so many hexagonal shafts it wasn't funny, great car though, the envy of all my friends at the time.
GTiR23 a company called CRP made bomb proof shafts.
mike galia cheers mate, 20 years too late for me though unfortunately haha! Might buy another one for nostalgia.
GTiR23 i recently found some old parts to build a Blackfoot, and my original RC-10, restoring/running the ''oldies'' is a ball. :)
mike galia some lipos and a brushless motor in one of these would be awesome, not sure if even the CRP shafts would stand up to the extra power though.

Those fucking dogbone drive shafts used to break every other run lol
Its the pixel in the middle
That music overlay is atrocious, can't hear a damn word the guy is saying.
i will if it dosnt rain today
wat yr is this video?
Let's see....
Stripped out dogbones -- check!
Broken speed control resister for one speed in each direction -- check!
Shitty friction shocks -- check!

their not releasing the original, their releasing the Black foot Extreme
Couldn't of picked better music.
Blackfoot, as in the Blackfeet, as in Native Americans... not African Americans...
sorry but wishbone its not good I'm sorry it bounces around like anything.
Monster Beetle > Blackfoot.
yes newer batteries are much better
@reanimate280 LOL
Frog on Steroids :)
it doesent have any fucking suspention
it goes over a peble and jumps thats crap
i dont think that cars are made as good as they used to by any company
I made a RC truck that costs 100buks and can do better than this (EXPENSIVE) RC truck. IT ISN`T WORTH THE MONEY.
