Thank you for making this video. This was one of the best matchs federers ever played considering his age. And he should have and deserved to win. However i think he really lost the match in the first set tie-break, he made two big unforced errors on his forehand. Its easy and understable to not win big set points or match points based on tactical decisions, but in the first set he had the opportunty to bury a couple winners and didn't even need to be worldies either. I still think he deserved to win the match and i think djokovic got a little lucky, unlikle 2011 where really djokovic made the difference, however when it matters the most novak is less prone to errors usually and is the fitest athlete on tour which is what makes the difference most of the time. I don't think the GOAT debate is a simple as whos won the most slams, the next gens haven't really produced any great players over the last decade which has played into djokovics hands, but I do think in terms of purley tennis abilty and level, federer is the greatest player to play the game, however djokovic is the most effeicent player and athelete. I think thats is the fairest way to analysis these two great champions.
Awesome video Joel. As a Federer fan makes me sick to think about these points. Went down the T on 1st serve and clipped tape. That close from it being over as like you said, Djoker was covering wide slider serve. On Fed's 2nd match point, with his approach shot, I think he remembered how good Djokovic is at passing on the back-hand (Think WTF 2012 passing shot to win ruclips.net/video/UzxA-TYr1og/видео.html ), so he changed his mind, and kind of pushed it up FH middle, when if he was confident, probably could have hit an inside out winner. Such high stakes. No one is immune to nerves. Crazy stuff. Thanks for video.
Yeah it’s amazing when you have hindsight to watch this stuff. These guys are making these distinct decisions within 20seconds between points. It’s amazing. Blows my mind sometimes when I watch these back
Awesome insights Joel!! 🙌
