Nope this is all wrong. F22 and F35 have never been the base design of this J20. This is basically based on the Russian MIG 1.44. (which really look like it). The plane that seems to have been more copied is the J35. From what I can see, J20 seems to have adopted some element of the F35 (like the air intake) . But the overall shape and canard is basically coming from MIG 1.44. People only see that China copied US aircraft.. I mean just look at the KF51 and the KHANN.. they are very very look like F22 and F35. What is incredible from China that is more surprosing for me, it's not the capacity to copy, it's the capacity they had to leverage information they had and learn and now design their own aircraft. No everyone is capable of doing that in less than 10 years! Just look at how can alone, they could send a Space station, while we always struggle to send any module in international, while we are working with more than 13 different countries. Did you know in the past US also have problem with underpower engine so they use what can use and waiting for the real engine finish, one of that kind problem is at F 14 tomcat. Not until late 80s it have right engine. F 14 is very big and heavy aircraft. Even after right engine finish not all get upgrade too until it retired because it seem not cost effective.
Regarding "copying" other countries. China is still unable to build home grown Jet engines powerful enough to compete with NATO tech. Their newest jets on their newest carrier have to be light weight, carry much less fuel and weapons than US and NATO counter parts. They have 1 deployed "test" carriers, and 2 new home built ones in trials, but are still unable to get their catapults working. Yes, they WILL eventually work those issues out in time. BUT what will take MUCH longer is all that America and Europe has learned USING these machines. It takes generations to master it all, then enact systems to pass that knowledge down to the next generation. China is still decades away from threatening the US. The problem is that once you copy something else like the F35, you are playing catch-up with the people who invented the thing, did the research and UNDERSTAND the mechanics of the aircraft. This isn't about iterations on publicly available technologies and improvements like it happens in regular industry as you point out. It is not like licensing stuff where you can get access to direct support or more detailed schematics so you can make improvements. When stolen military secrets are used to make copies, you don't have any of the expertise or the access to all the information and R&D data required to make it, you instead make the stuff in secret and become severely limited in order to keep the secrecy, ending up with a lesser version of the tech. Can they build upon that and do R&D themselves to then make a superior version? Yes but not really, at that point they are bound to start running into the same issues the original researchers dealt with so it is more like them making the OG research in reverse, it's not less expensive and its basically just as time consuming in terms of strategic value.

No, the J-20 is not as good as the F-22. The biggest blocker is the jet engines. There are other issues but this is the most serious one. The PLA can't buy German or American jet engines (because for some reason not everyone trusts them -- weird, right?). Cutting-edge jet engine technology is very specialized, particularly in terms of the materials science involved. Certain parts of the engine (for example, the turbine blades) are very specialized in terms of precisely how they are constructed, in order to achieve a very tricky balance between high durability, high heat resistance, fine detail, and light weight. Like battleship armor in the first half of the twentieth century, the facilities that make these parts are extremely specialized and quite difficult to reproduce at another site even if you know everything about how they work, and on top of that there are closely guarded secrets involved. In practice, this means the J-20 has about half the operational range it could theoretically have with better engines (which is probably why it's been seen flying with extra fuel tanks on wing pylons, a significant compromise considering its impact on stealth), and there are also limitations on acceleration and maneuverability. This is not necessarily an insurmountable problem, and I would imagine they are actively working on it. But it is not an *easy* problem to solve either, and it is not a foregone conclusion that they will necessarily be able to solve it quickly.

In regards to jet technology the USA is possibly 10 to 15 years ahead of its competitors, yes the J20 is made with alot of data from the F35 but when you seriously look at them side by side the f35 is smaller faster more maneuverable and with data-link it connects to nearly everything NATO has in the air and on the ground, and on top of that they are prototyping full sized jet drones that can accompany both the 35 and 22 with alot more missiles and different types of missles. And also china's doctrine with jets hasn't been tested in true combat, NATO uses what's called Camaos which uses all types of aircraft needed for a mission, this is standard for NATO and the US can also make its own Camaos which would render the J20 incapable of attack or defense based of the Camaos made for the mission
The f35 was designed in the 80s and 90s and first flight in 2006. F22was designed also in 86 First flight in 97. To give you an idea of how advanced us aircraft design is, the sr71, the fastest plane in history to this day was designed in the late 50s. Probably the biggest advantage the US has is that it's pilots constantly train. It's been said that Chinese pilots don't get much actual flight time. It's cheaper to put them in simulators. Fuel and maintenance are expensive for these jets, hence the giant US military budget.
Chinese j20 might be not their own design but look out for j 35 or fc 31 which is a homegrown deaign and very stealthy also. And for the engines they are replacing the ws 10 and al31f with ws15 engines most recently, man they are very capable. j35 also have homegrown engines. They are certainly challenging US And don't forget they have now 250-300 j20s which is scary💀

In my opinion, I don't think the J 20 is going to be the kind of fighter aircraft that many people consider a "fighter". I doubt this thing will see much dogfighting since you don't need to in an era with long-range, independent-radar guided missiles. I especially don't think it's going to be performing deep-air-space-infiltration missions. Instead, I think this is going to be the fighter equivalent of a sniper and used defensively. Part of my reasoning has to do with a lower radar cross section compared to the F-22 and F-35. Now, inb4 we don't know any of that, it's classified. The plane is massive compared to the prior two which means more stuff for radars to detect, no matter how well the angles reflect. But again, if you're sniping, that doesn't matter as much. Consider what was said about the E3, it wasn't that it couldn't detect the J 20, but that it couldn't detect it IN TIME. Who cares if you see the enemy if they've already sent three missiles your way? Thus is likely the same reasoning that the F-35 isn't as good of a dog fighter as the F-22, because the plan isn't for it to get that close to an enemy aircraft to begin with. This thing, therefore, will likely be used to actively go after 4th gen aircraft in any conflict, while using guerilla tactics on 5th gen aircraft. I believe this to be thr case since China isn't dumb and they realize that when you lift design secrets, the designer knows what you've stolen and, therefore, what your copy-paste design is capable of. I believe the J 20 was just a learning experience, or practice run, at building a 5th gen aircraft. Then, like their Navy, they will use this learning experience to create their own from the ground up, which wouldn't surprise me if it's already in development.
So my thing about Chinese copying so many things is that they boast a population of over 1 billion people and the most innovative they can get is, "Let's send bodies to other places to take their ideas and then we'll use their ideas to make our own stuff." I mean, there's just no pride in there at all and very low self respect when they try to back it up telling the world not to call them copycats. The Chinese engines have several problems that relate to their inability to replicate the metallurgy of American or European industries yet. The service life of their engines has been on the order of 1/5 the life of our engines which means they must build a much larger inventory and they have a significantly higher down time due to constant engine swaps. This means a substantial loss of the sortie rate based on any given number of aircraft compared to ours. It also means they have a significantly higher rate of crashes due to engine failure in flight. As pointed out the engines are unable to develop enough power to supercruise and that also gets reflected in their responsiveness. Rather than all aspect stealthiness they are most stealthy from the front and less so to the sides and rear. If going up against a networked enemy who can locate them easily from the sides or rear and put that info into the combat net then they will experience significant attrition in a fight. Is it a significant improvement Yes. Is it equal to our aircraft No. This also does not take into account the newest aircraft designs in current testing and likely to enter service in the late '20's to early '30's. We have a whole new world of missiles in the production pipeline with both hypersonic missiles of advanced design and concurrently hypersonic fighters as well. We might look as if we are behind and occasionally our enemies do surprise us but within the next ten or so years the US is going to field a series of new weapons of war that ought to shock much of the world.

Whether it's an aeroplane or a car, the West has built huge patent barriers, and almost any way possible is patented by Western companies, so that if a Chinese company doesn't pay these expensive royalties it can't make anything at all. A good example of this is the aeroplane engine, where almost all the knowledge came from Russia, and it was only after Chinese engineers improved it that they came up with their own engine manufacturing technology.

The American built Mustang never had a RR Merlin. The P-51 originally had an Allison V-1710. The model built for Britain was modified by British to hold the RR Merlin engine which had better performance. This led to the definitive design of the P-51D; which had a Packard V-1670-7 Merlin. Which is a license built version of the Merlin 66 built in America by Packard Motorcar Company.

In 2013, the PLA tried using J-20s to infiltrate Indian airspace. The Indian Air Force Rafales, and, Su-30MKIs were able to detect it at extreme ranges. The Indian pilots, flying export model aircraft, would have been able to score BVR kills against China's "5th Gen" fighter.

The reason it’s so long is because it needs bigger engines to make the speed, but they are highly prone to breaking down, do not have the same longevity as ours and their fuel efficiency is substantially lower. China is NOT a HitTech Nation. They like to appear as one. But you should be aware that before 2017, they were unable to machine the roller ball for a ball point pen. Yes that’s right, before 2017, China was incapable of fully manufacturing their own ball point pens. They had to outsource them. China is a paper tiger. Canards are good for low speed maneuverability, but they are known to be a non-stealth feature. Of course the Chinese canards could have a good load of bullshit that makes theirs stealthy

Canards are used on many Europe or Asian fighters like most russian (Su-30…) or the deltawingplanes of europe (JAS 39 Gripen…) they are used to make the aircraft maneuverable by completely rotating (like the J-20s does).
I think you might be thinking of the Rolls Royce upgrade engines for the B52. These engines are made by Rolls Roys in Louisiana, USA. Additionally, Google shows this: “Rolls-Royce Holdings plc is a British multinational aerospace and defence company incorporated in February 2011. The company owns Rolls-Royce, a business established in 1904 which today designs, manufactures and distributes power systems for aviation and other industries.” The Pratt & Whitney F135 engine is considered the most advanced fighter jet engine in the world, and apparently, no other military jet engine comes close to it. Pratt & Whitney is in the process of an upgrade for this engine. It seems like no group of hackers from any country have been able, so far, to get their hands on any of the blueprints for this engine.
A Rolls Royce jet engine will almost certainly be made in the US probably in Indianapolis. Some components might be made in Canada. The big 4 GE, Pratt Whitney, CFM and Rolls Royce which represent more than 90% market share of both civil and military applications build their engines almost exclusively in the US. Many of the components in Russian jet engines are also made in the US Yakovlev is still reliant on many critical components fron Honeywell, components which they are able to purchase and import via various European rat holes thanks to sanctions which is kind of ironic that the Russians are jumping through so many hoops to get US parts considering they are so proud of their "domestic" industry. Aerospace is one of the few manufacturing games the US is still thoroughly dominant in.

The US buys Rolls Royce engines - they allow them to compete and if they are better they win (oversimplified). The B52s are each getting 8 new RR power plants in competitive contract award. The US has Pratt and Whitney and GE in-country, among others.

Nope this is all wrong. F22 and F35 have never been the base design of this J20. This is basically based on the Russian MIG 1.44. (which really look like it).
The plane that seems to have been more copied is the J35. From what I can see, J20 seems to have adopted some element of the F35 (like the air intake) . But the overall shape and canard is basically coming from MIG 1.44. People only see that China copied US aircraft.. I mean just look at the KF51 and the KHANN.. they are very very look like F22 and F35.

Did you know in the past US also have problem with underpower engine so they use what can use and waiting for the real engine finish, one of that kind problem is at F 14 tomcat. F-22 is powered by a Pratt and Whitney F119, based about 2 hours from where I live in Southern New England. It's made only for the F-22 and prototype variants. It's designed to be stealthy from the beginning, unlike the J-20.

China is still unable to build home grown Jet engines powerful enough to compete with NATO tech. Their newest jets on their newest carrier have to be light weight, carry much less fuel and weapons than US and NATO counter parts. They have 1 deployed "test" carriers, and 2 new home built ones in trials, but are still unable to get their catapults working. Yes, they WILL eventually work those issues out in time. BUT what will take MUCH longer is all that America and Europe has learned USING these machines. It takes generations to master it all, then enact systems to pass that knowledge down to the next generation. China is still decades away from threatening the US. Not to mention, just because China has "more ships" does not mean sh1t. US alone has HALF the world navies tonnage. If u add up EVERY naval ship, HALF that weight is American. The problem is that once you copy something else like the F35, you are playing catch-up with the people who invented the thing, did the research and UNDERSTAND the mechanics of the aircraft. This isn't about iterations on publicly available technologies and improvements like it happens in regular industry as you point out. It is not like licensing stuff where you can get access to direct support or more detailed schematics so you can make improvements. When stolen military secrets are used to make copies, you don't have any of the expertise or the access to all the information and R&D data required to make it, you instead make the stuff in secret and become severely limited in order to keep the secrecy, ending up with a lesser version of the tech. Can they build upon that and do R&D themselves to then make a superior version? Yes but not really, at that point they are bound to start running into the same issues the original researchers dealt with so it is more like them making the OG research in reverse, it's not less expensive and its basically just as time consuming in terms of strategic value.

US has been spying all around the world and get all various tech from Russia, Germany or China (they have to understand how competitor tech work to ensure that their can't be counter. You can maybe, maybe maybe appreciate their ability to "STEAL". F-35 can handle this jet no problem especially with the current updates and future Radar and Engine updates. By the way F-35 will not get adaptive engines right now, the current engines will get a engine core update to increase thrust by "I think 10% and Range by 5% but most important lower heat in engine and increase electrical output. Please do a video on the Abrams tank replacement the Abrams X so you can see how the F-35 tech is filtering into tanks as well.

No, the J-20 is not as good as the F-22.
The biggest blocker is the jet engines. There are other issues but this is the most serious one. The PLA can't buy German or American jet engines (because for some reason not everyone trusts them -- weird, right?). Cutting-edge jet engine technology is very specialized, particularly in terms of the materials science involved. Certain parts of the engine (for example, the turbine blades) are very specialized in terms of precisely how they are constructed, in order to achieve a very tricky balance between high durability, high heat resistance, fine detail, and light weight. Like battleship armor in the first half of the twentieth century, the facilities that make these parts are extremely specialized and quite difficult to reproduce at another site even if you know everything about how they work, and on top of that there are closely guarded secrets involved. In practice, this means the J-20 has about half the operational range it could theoretically have with better engines (which is probably why it's been seen flying with extra fuel tanks on wing pylons, a significant compromise considering its impact on stealth), and there are also limitations on acceleration and maneuverability. This is not necessarily an insurmountable problem, and I would imagine they are actively working on it. But it is not an *easy* problem to solve either, and it is not a foregone conclusion that they will necessarily be able to solve it quickly.

In regards to jet technology the USA is possibly 10 to 15 years ahead of its competitors, yes the J20 is made with alot of data from the F35 but when you seriously look at them side by side the f35 is smaller faster more maneuverable and with data-link it connects to nearly everything NATO has in the air and on the ground, and on top of that they are prototyping full sized jet drones that can accompany both the 35 and 22 with alot more missiles and different types of missles. And also china's doctrine with jets hasn't been tested in true combat, NATO uses what's called Camaos which uses all types of aircraft needed for a mission, this is standard for NATO and the US can also make its own Camaos which would render the J20 incapable of attack or defense based of the Camaos made for the mission

Probably the biggest advantage the US has is that it's pilots constantly train. It's been said that Chinese pilots don't get much actual flight time. It's cheaper to put them in simulators. Fuel and maintenance are expensive for these jets, hence the giant US military budget.

In my opinion, I don't think the J 20 is going to be the kind of fighter aircraft that many people consider a "fighter". I doubt this thing will see much dogfighting since you don't need to in an era with long-range, independent-radar guided missiles. I especially don't think it's going to be performing deep-air-space-infiltration missions. Instead, I think this is going to be the fighter equivalent of a sniper and used defensively.
Part of my reasoning has to do with a lower radar cross section compared to the F-22 and F-35. Now, inb4 we don't know any of that, it's classified. The plane is massive compared to the prior two which means more stuff for radars to detect, no matter how well the angles reflect. But again, if you're sniping, that doesn't matter as much. Consider what was said about the E3, it wasn't that it couldn't detect the J 20, but that it couldn't detect it IN TIME. Who cares if you see the enemy if they've already sent three missiles your way? Thus is likely the same reasoning that the F-35 isn't as good of a dog fighter as the F-22, because the plan isn't for it to get that close to an enemy aircraft to begin with.
This thing, therefore, will likely be used to actively go after 4th gen aircraft in any conflict, while using guerilla tactics on 5th gen aircraft. I believe this to be thr case since China isn't dumb and they realize that when you lift design secrets, the designer knows what you've stolen and, therefore, what your copy-paste design is capable of. I believe the J 20 was just a learning experience, or practice run, at building a 5th gen aircraft. Then, like their Navy, they will use this learning experience to create their own from the ground up, which wouldn't surprise me if it's already in development.
So my thing about Chinese copying so many things is that they boast a population of over 1 billion people and the most innovative they can get is, "Let's send bodies to other places to take their ideas and then we'll use their ideas to make our own stuff." I mean, there's just no pride in there at all and very low self respect when they try to back it up telling the world not to call them copycats. If they were so great an innovation, they'd find the stealth breakthrough just as the USA did with a third of their populace.

The Chinese engines have several problems that relate to their inability to replicate the metallurgy of American or European industries yet. The service life of their engines has been on the order of 1/5 the life of our engines which means they must build a much larger inventory and they have a significantly higher down time due to constant engine swaps. This means a substantial loss of the sortie rate based on any given number of aircraft compared to ours. It also means they have a significantly higher rate of crashes due to engine failure in flight. As pointed out the engines are unable to develop enough power to supercruise and that also gets reflected in their responsiveness. Rather than all aspect stealthiness they are most stealthy from the front and less so to the sides and rear. If going up against a networked enemy who can locate them easily from the sides or rear and put that info into the combat net then they will experience significant attrition in a fight. Is it a significant improvement Yes. Is it equal to our aircraft No. This also does not take into account the newest aircraft designs in current testing and likely to enter service in the late '20's to early '30's. We have a whole new world of missiles in the production pipeline with both hypersonic missiles of advanced design and concurrently hypersonic fighters as well. We might look as if we are behind and occasionally our enemies do surprise us but within the next ten or so years the US is going to field a series of new weapons of war that ought to shock much of the world.

Whether it's an aeroplane or a car, the West has built huge patent barriers, and almost any way possible is patented by Western companies, so that if a Chinese company doesn't pay these expensive royalties it can't make anything at all. A good example of this is the aeroplane engine, where almost all the knowledge came from Russia, and it was only after Chinese engineers improved it that they came up with their own engine manufacturing technology.
I’m glad someone like this guy knows nothing about new military tech in China. That would be great for the future competition among China to any other countries. This guy even compared j20 to f35(didn’t do any research huh). That’s sad u still compare j20 to ur old crap(both f22 and f35), don’t even say there’s a new version of double seat j20, which pilots in back seat can command drones.

P51 Mustang had Rolls Royce Merlin Engines, and what a beautiful sounding engine it is.
The American built Mustang never had a RR Merlin. The P-51 originally had an Allison V-1710. The model built for Britain was modified by British to hold the RR Merlin engine which had better performance. This led to the definitive design of the P-51D; which had a Packard V-1670-7 Merlin. Which is a license built version of the Merlin 66 built in America by Packard Motorcar Company.

Edit; If it is a RR Merlin; it was built for Britian by the USA and modified by British for the Rolls Royce Merlin 66. This is what led to the P-51D with its "American made Merlin". That's the point I'm trying to make above.

In 2013, the PLA tried using J-20s to infiltrate Indian airspace. The Indian Air Force Rafales, and, Su-30MKIs were able to detect it at extreme ranges. The Indian pilots, flying export model aircraft, would have been able to score BVR kills against China's "5th Gen" fighter.

The reason it’s so long is because it needs bigger engines to make the speed, but they are highly prone to breaking down, do not have the same longevity as ours and their fuel efficiency is substantially lower.
China is NOT a HitTech Nation. They like to appear as one. But you should be aware that before 2017, they were unable to machine the roller ball for a ball point pen. Yes that’s right, before 2017, China was incapable of fully manufacturing their own ball point pens. They had to outsource them.
China is a paper tiger. But they’re ambitious and ruthless in those ambitions.
Canards are good for low speed maneuverability,
but they are known to be a non-stealth feature.

Canards are used on many Europe or Asian fighters like most russian (Su-30…) or the deltawingplanes of europe (JAS 39 Gripen…) they are used to make the aircraft maneuverable by completely rotating (like the J-20s does).

I think you might be thinking of the Rolls Royce upgrade engines for the B52. These engines are made by Rolls Roys in Louisiana, USA. Additionally, Google shows this: “Rolls-Royce Holdings plc is a British multinational aerospace and defence company incorporated in February 2011. The Pratt & Whitney F135 engine is considered the most advanced fighter jet engine in the world, and apparently, no other military jet engine comes close to it. Pratt & Whitney is in the process of an upgrade for this engine. It seems like no group of hackers from any country have been able, so far, to get their hands on any of the blueprints for this engine.

A Rolls Royce jet engine will almost certainly be made in the US probably in Indianapolis. Some components might be made in Canada. The big 4 GE, Pratt Whitney, CFM and Rolls Royce which represent more than 90% market share of both civil and military applications build their engines almost exclusively in the US. Many of the components in Russian jet engines are also made in the US Yakovlev is still reliant on many critical components fron Honeywell, components which they are able to purchase and import via various European rat holes thanks to sanctions which is kind of ironic that the Russians are jumping through so many hoops to get US parts considering they are so proud of their "domestic" industry. Aerospace is one of the few manufacturing games the US is still thoroughly dominant in.

China flunked art and design. If they designed it on their own, it would definitely look very ugly. Just look at Chinese Taikonauts' uniforms, they have very low aesthetic value. China was asleep during the Renaissance.
One of the biggest reasons the US is so advanced is a combination of a more meritocratic society early on, a major focus on private sector and the insane wealth developed by all the above and our insane natural advantages and resources.
P51 Mustangs from WWII had a different engine then they put the Rolls Royce Merlin engine. But Packard made it work n America for the P51.
Its difficult to say how good a piece of hardware is based purely on a spec sheet. A lotta people seemed pessimistic regarding the challenger 1. Desert storm proved it was effective in its role. I feel the J-20 would need to demonstrate its capabilities in actual combat before any meaningful conclusions can be drawn.
The news media also constantly told us that the M1 Abrams couldn't survive in the desert environment of Iraq. Our technology is continually ridiculed and our adversaries are always a generation ahead -- until they go up against each other.

The easiest simple way to eplain the aircraft design is that they are almost deliberately deigned to be unstable at low speed and tight manoeuvres to allow them to outturn their opponent. It’s the super high tech aeronautical computers that stop the aircraft from simply falling out of the sky, by making thousands of tiny corrections to control surfaces (flaps etc) automatically. That is where the Chinese can’t compete with America. They are years away from it.
