I have this kit! One of my all time favorite builds because of how much the joints just work so well, not like most of the New Century Character kits that have those god-aweful ball-joints for the hind and front legs. I have the Lightning Saix re-packaged version, the Ptreas Bomber re-packaged version(the wings I had to practically super glue all the little missles to was a total pain), the Iguan re-packaged ver, the Gun Sniper W-2 re-packaged version(that was a pain in the ass to build), the Wild Feng(surprisingly amazing to build since usually I don't like the Wild Tomy kits), the Shield Liger & Shield Liger DSJ-C version both re-packaged(I honestly thought I was going to hate them more since I had a Liger Zero and it was an absolute pain in the ass to build(turns out it's a friggen bootlegged version hence my hatred for it), Dark Horn(oh god the friggen middle section of the body with all the fucking guns on it is not fun at all to put together once all the pieces are built, assembling that monstrosity was an utter fucking headache because the damn thing kept coming apart, did get it all together but I am never moving again unless I absolutely have to), the Tomy Takera version of the Hayate Liger(the blades are rubber and are not sharp and overall it's a piece of trash since most of it was prebuilt because it's a toy and not a model kit), the Murasame Liger from ZA kits(yes I know ZA is a bootleg brand but by god did they make some fine kits, just wish there were more than the three ligers from Genesis, I do still want to get the other two kits though.), the Storm Sworder re-packaged version(I need to replace this kit because it's old and falling apart because I lived with heathens who hated me and did respect my shit), the Geno Breaker re-packaged version(need to replace this one too since my former landlord threw it at me and I don't know if I have all the pieces still.), the Liger Zero bootlegged re-packaged version(I got it off an American seller on e-bay years ago for $148 which was shit because it's a bootleg and the heathens I mentioned earlier destroyed it, I will eventually get a proper re-packaged version hopefully the joints don't drive me up the wall), Irvin's Command Wolf(yes I made the mistake of getting a character model kit with it's fucked up joints, the left hind leg will not stay on no matter how hard I try so I'm forced to leave it without one of it's legs, I will be getting the re-packaged version hoping it's better then the older kit.), then I have a bootlegged Saber Tiger I need to replace(again it's missing pieces and it's a crappy bootleg), then I have a bunch of second hand Hasbro kits: The Shield Liger, the Rev Raptor, the Hammersledge, the Venomous Viper, and the Raynos that all need replacing since they're second hand, then I have three of the Tomy 1/144th scale kits, the Saber Fang, Shield Liger MK-2, and the Hammer Rock, and I do also have the HMM Rev Raptor re-packaged version. I do want all the HMM kits eventually, and hopefully my Christmas present this year from my best friend will be the two HMM Redler kits since they're not too expensive but I really miss making these kits, they're soo much fun when the joints are well made.
I noticed my grooves don't line up properly and it's not even close. Even without the ball, the only way it fits is if I leave the lower piece attached to the armor. If I attach the ball or the top without the ball, ot doesn't fit

just give it a push and it should fit properly, the fit is a bit tight.
