little mix fans started calling jesy on her blackfishing BEFORE she left the group. i know some fans called her out before the sweet melody video come out but when it did, more fans joined trying to educate her about it. thats when she blocked fans too. and she continued doing it after she left the band. Also the girls themselves confront her about it when she was still in the band. i think it's important to add.
Only chronically online people care that much about her hairstyle and clothes. Sure, you can say the tans and darkened skin color are questionable, but then again some people have skin that tans quickly and easily in the sun. I never once thought Jesy was black or biracial. She doesn’t wear box braids or anything that was cultivated in black culture, and honestly I can say the people calling her out are the ones stereotyping black American fashion and culture
@@ryangarza5513it’s not people who are chronically online. It’s fans who also seen them in real life and have been to concerts myself. There’s NO reason for a white woman to be that tanned other than to pass off as ambiguously adjacent to another race. It was a whole ass trend among white women from 2014 and even up to this day. There was a woman who went viral because she believed she really “became” black because she tanned herself dark enough. There’s whole ass video essays I have watched myself documenting these very topics & it’s not people who are chronically online critiquing this form of minstrel show, you’re projecting you’re on an insecurities. It was people who felt affected by people like Jesy IN REAL LIFE speaking.
You couldn’t have been there at the time to understand where the rots to the black fishing issue came from & you speak ignorantly. You need to seriously educate yourself on the harm that blackfishing was before just jumping to say whatever.
@@nanudv BF is subjective. The question is whether someone who tans as they do really trying to be black or racially ambiguous. In Jesys defence I'd say NO. But she is being blamed because people thought she was mixed. No one wants to be told how to look or dress so if she blocked people I am not surprised. There are people who try to pass off as black unfortunately Jesy has been used as a scapegoat. Her Haters and jealous people have used this to cancel her making her an example of blackfishing. Should they ban tan to appease black culture. Mind you some people tan dark naturally. As 4 the Boyz vid she was paying homage to the original vid and there were white actors in the vid.
It's honestly so sad because I definitely looked up to her and how she had to stand her ground in such a toxic industry but then she went ahead and ruined everything for herself.
The way she just sat there, said nothing and occasionally laughed during "the livestream" tells me all I need to know about her character, even after all this time of following her career.
Most people wouldn't just let someone shit on their supposed best friends/sisters for 12 minutes straight PUBLICLY and afterwards go "oh there's no bad blood between us" like GIRL speak up then ? 💀
Idk I think there was already drama during the confetti era. Idk if the girls actually knew if jesy was gonna leave or not but there were pretty obvious signs something went down between Perrie and jesy and the girls sided with perrie
I think her story is so tragic from beginning to end. Relentlessly bullied all her life, given a terrible song/optics when she tried to establish herself as a solo artist, relentlessly bullied for that too. And now she's pretty much dissapeared with her last release being almost 1 year old. It's just sad. She never had anyone telling her she was good enough the way she is

Agreed. People are quick to jump all over someone without knowing all the facts. Many people online seem to justify their hatred with a misguided notion of support for someone else. If the people tearing Jesy down put even half that energy into getting involved with politics, change might actually have a chance of happening.
Yeah I honestly do think this whole thing was blown over by people around jest like Nicki and what not. Was jesy controversial yes but compared to other cancelled celebrities something doesn’t feel righht

I've known little mix for 4 years and I thought that Jesy was black or at least mixed 💀
As a black person myself, I hate when people call everything blackfishing , and I clearly see when people just put on tan , or is natural tan . But it's the first time ever I thought that a white person is black, like for some reason she screamed ( not literally but you get what I mean ) " I'm black " enough for me to believe she was black . I only learned that she was white a few weeks ago . I'm still shocked 🗿

I am white. My whole family is Eastern European white. Yet my cousin is brown.

Being white doesnt mean wall paint shade of white. Some people just tan easily and have a strong pigmentation.

I've known little mix almost all my life through my sister. As a Nigerian, my sister would listen to their songs daily and that was how I became a fan. I'd watch their music videos, like it, and then come back to them the next 5 months. It's just so heartbreaking to know they've split up. God, they were so perfect together.

saying in 100 years time people will not associate Jesy with Little Mix is kinda wrong, you seem to have forgotten that for almost 10 years Jesy was part of LM and released they released their most successful music while Jesy was a member, Jesy was a huge part of Little Mix and always will be somewhere in the background when people think of them.

I wouldn’t really called it a feud when they haven’t addressed (as in haven’t been bitchy or said anything bad ) it publicly, yes maybe behind the scenes there was obviously disagreements but the girls have kept it professional, but it’s quite funny when nicki went on but was basically just fighting the air

Me too. Jesy made mistakes but to wipe her out from the band permanently is unnecessary and they aren’t as marketable as a trio. 10 years time - 4 piece reunion. Might even be quicker based on the solo careers so far

@raejae5565 The dude that stated everything came out after the fact and said that jesy team made him do it(i dont beleive that but this shows he just says things), plus some of the screenshots he provided were clearly edited. On some leighanne was verified some she wasn't and some of the lining of the ui didn't align. Honestly, his credibility was so bad that I don't know how people ever believed him.

Wow this was amazing. In my own opinion, since Jesy was aware that after the last tour they’d go on a hiatus, she should have waited for just a while then when they go on break she can then start her solo career. But leaving way early is just so 🥺
Exactly. By quitting before that, Jesy jumped the shark too early and began her solo career from a weak position.

@@seyiann266 The whole shame of it all is Jesy's 2nd single Bad Thing did her voice the most justice and was miles better than Boys. What Leigh Anne, Perrie and Jade did was take the time out and hone in on their individual sound.

actually i think that everything jesy had for her album she cant release right now because she was dropped from the label so that album is not coming any sooner…not that many people care
Try looking at it from Jesy's perspective though, if this girl who you once thought of as a best friend had just called you a horrible person, would you really defend HER when she's called a jealous clown by someone defending YOU? I don't think those text messages were real, however its clear that both Jesy and Nicki did and the impact of them was felt. I wish a public statement was made about the authenticity of those said text messages (something that involved them) instead of the authenticity of Jesy's tan (something that didn't involve them).

The whole Jesy leaving situation (with the blocking etc.) and the livestream was definitely a shitty move but what I didn’t understood back then and still don’t understand is the black-fishing-thing.
Tbh I don’t get the point. Everyone can tan how they want and just because you fill your lips doesn’t mean you try to look like a person of color. I think you can’t prescribe anything to a person. If I would like to tan, I will do that and just because some people have a problem with that, doesn’t mean they have to call me out for it.
I don’t mean to be rude to anyone but that whole cancelling people situation our society is currently in is just so bad.
Also I hate the phrase: “we try to educate you, because it’s problematic what you do.” (no matter the topic) is an absolute no-go for me (especially on social media). If a person doesn’t like what a celebrity is doing, then this person should just unfollow. I would not listen if people tell me what to do and try to educate me, they simply don’t have the right to put their opinion on my life.

She didn’t just get a little tan, she was darker than actual black people (Nicki Minaj for example). She changed her WHOLE look to appear as a black woman in hip hop. Now that she’s not trying to be a hip hop artist (she flopped, album cancelled and got dropped from her label) she’s back to looking like a white girl and not racially ambiguous
I dont like how things went, but I also hate how quick the fandom was to jump against her. Like they were waiting for her to leave. Saying little mix works better as a trio and that she wasnt needed and its just sad because little mix always stood for empowerment and unity and people just leave her out of that. They were amazing as 4 and all super talented
I became a fan bc of Black Magic and from then I followed them until the year before LM5 came out (other interests). It was maybe one of the best times for me, who just loves music. All the drama behind happened afterwards. I only know, that people called her names before, talked about her body shape all the time and actually only cared about Leigh-Anne, Jade and Perrie.
So even back then you could tell that she was always the outcast. But Little Mix wouldn't have worked without her. Many people forgot that back then or simply ignored it. Unfortunately, the things went downhill, as described here.
Since the British press (yellow press) likes to write what makes headlines and not the truth, I was always skeptical. It's good that there are channels like you that are much closer to the people. It's really sad the path Jesy has taken. It would probably have been best to say goodbye in peace, but unfortunately you can't turn back time.

Little Mix were waaay way better as a 4 piece, they were more marketable and more successful....all of their biggest hits,Awards and achievements was with the 4 members, none of their music as a trio was a big hit!!I like the Confetti remix,which was successful,but Jesy was already in the original Album version too

White people are allowed to tan and I know a lot of white people that naturally tan extremely dark, not myself I just go lobster red in the sun.
yes white people are allowed to fake tan. as long as it’s not so dark it appears to be racially ambiguous or could be mistaken for a person of colour. this is the level jesy took her fake tan to.
Do you not realize because of her "tan" a good portion of people thought she was black? At first glance because I'm not deep into the fandom way back when I thought this girl was black. That's part of the issue.

As solo artists Jade is the most amazing, but as little mix they were far better as a 4 piece.
So far LM have done worse without he. Also she did better than LA and PE with her debut solo single. What she could have done if she was not

Little Mix will always be four girls. They can claim what they want about being a 3 but they simply aren’t the same ‘product’ as a 3 and the low single positions showed it. From what was said by the girls Jesy was taken aside during the Sweet Melody music video very late in their career and I’m guessing there was a big argument which caused her not to appear in that sequence they did. I think it’s pushing it to say the beginning. 2011 was a very different time to now and people didn’t say anything about things even if they were uncomfortable. What is wrong is that Jesy didn’t take the criticism on board and see that what she was doing was upsetting Leigh Anne. They will definitely get back together as a 4 though. Not marketable as much as a 3

Jesy got shit for not defending someone who she called her sister for a decade, because she was very outspoken before about how she was bullied and how badly it affected her mental health.
