I love seeing these old techniques tested in the age, to see how practical and effective they really are. I can image that even without debris or reeds to use as cover, a shinobi could hide fairly effectively in water at night with this technique, at least for a short time. I imagine that before modern lighting, nighttime was truly dark and much easier to conceal yourself in. Thank you so much for sharing these techniques, insight, and knowledge with us!
This gave me a nostalgic mood of the old ninja videos and books from the 80s and 90s I'd find from the library and internet. The good old Tenchu days as I call them. I was also glad to see that my state of Florida has been represented in the video thumbnail. I'm there with you in spirit.
Also, a longer tube means that when you exhale , more tube will be filled with carbon dioxide. More carbon dioxide to inhale while taking the next breath.
Air exhaled is not purely carbon dioxide as the lungs can't capture all the oxygen molecules in inhalation, they could add some breathing exercises to have the ninja last longer.
@@blackpowderkun The exhaled air still contains around 60% oxygen, which can be inhaled again. If the tube is too long or too large (internal volume), no fresh air gets into the breathing tube. The remaining oxygen would be used up very quickly.
Amazing, these people have never seen snorkeling....... By this time during the renaissance in Europe the diving suit made out of seal skin had already been invented. A model of the suit is shown on the treatise Fior di Battaglia by Fiore di Liberi.
There an awful lot of training modalities and a lot of ways to be able to look at what previous generations did... But the visceral feeling of being underwater breathing through a tube and trying to relax and stilll your body is very difficult.
He CLAIMS to be one of the last ones, that got taught in their ways. They are essentially a specialized multi-roll espionage military unit from the past. There are also some scriptures from the Meiji period (I think), that talk about tales of the shinoubi (That is, what they're actually called) and also some details, about their weaponry and techniques. It is possible, that what this guy is teaching is just made up, but at least, it seems somewhat reputable. So yeah, it only got partly preserved / documented. Alot (allegedly) just got taught directly and never writing down anywhere. So with the death of people, it gets lost over time.
Wife: why are you lying in the bathtub breathing through a piece of bamboo from the gardening center
Me: I'm invisible😂

"hey babe?"
"yeah?"
"why is there a piece of bamboo sticking out of the pool?"

That's right. You breathe in your own exhaled air again and again the longer the tube is.

@NinpoRalph Just realized, they could have exhaled under water.
@@blackpowderkun But that would mean telltale air bubbles on the surface... ;)

No one gives a crap about medieval suits, though. EVERYONE loves ninjas.

@@tatumergo3931 yeah we are. I am hiding under your bed now.......go look.
@@WolframtheBlessed3499 . Dammit I just looked, where did you go?.......!
@tatumergo3931 oh, I WAS there, breathing with my bamboo. Just....invisible 🥷 😉
この女優さん好きだし応援してます🎉
its more of a subterfuge technique it seems, like Kawakami sensei said it's not entirely impractical if done so in a way that is subtle.
It would be interesting to see how long someone trained in Wim Hof could last doing this.
I'm interested in finding a bamboo tube now.

Why did they show him struggling with the scabbard for so long and then cut to title? Is this a comedy channel?
