    Very nice video (though I had to put it on half-speed to keep track of the annotations). I'd like to see a similar animation for a reverse cooling design, such as seen in the Ford Duratec 2.3L engine. Just looking at an uninstalled thermostat assembly and a video of replacing one, it looks the bypass valve isn't connected to anything, and the heater hose port is always open.

    How does it know what the temperature is?

    • @IceAge20017
      @IceAge20017 3 месяца назад +4

      The thermostat is made of a temperature-sensitive wax pellet or a bimetallic coil that expands or contracts based on the temperature of the engine coolant, therefore opening and closing the valve.
      As amazing as it is there is no electronics involved.

    Can i use it with bikes for oil. Im installing an oil cooler on my 72 cc bike and traditional oil cooler bypass thermostats are expensive. What if i make a housing for it and use it as a oil cooler thermostat bypass

      Step one, cold engine gets hot. wax in thermostat melts and thermostat opens letting more cold coolant from the radiator into engine. Step 2. Engine gets too cold, wax turns back to solid closing thermostat and recirculates coolant through the engine until it's hot enough to repeat step one. Except rather than a back and forth it's a balance at operating temperature

    I am bit confused, i have a honda civic 1.8 and thermostat is installed and connected with the lower radiator hose, which sends coolant to the engine. Now coolant sent to engine is cooled one, so how would the thermo open when its cold? And hot coolant flows from engine to radiator via upper hose which doesnt have a thermo. Could someone help me understand.

    • @amirkhokhar89
      @amirkhokhar89 Год назад +1

      Boss when u feel that the coolant is cool it means that ur thermostate has stopped working and soon ur car will heat up..there is no way that the passed coolant towards radiator is cool. The pipes are cold as are not able to receive the coolant from thermostate towards radiator.

      @@EngineOn How does the thermostat in a car's cooling system work? Any liquid-cooled car engine has a small device called the thermostat that sits between the engine and the radiator. ... Its job is to block the flow of coolant to the radiator until the engine has warmed up.
