Very nice video (though I had to put it on half-speed to keep track of the annotations). I'd like to see a similar animation for a reverse cooling design, such as seen in the Ford Duratec 2.3L engine. Just looking at an uninstalled thermostat assembly and a video of replacing one, it looks the bypass valve isn't connected to anything, and the heater hose port is always open.
The thermostat is made of a temperature-sensitive wax pellet or a bimetallic coil that expands or contracts based on the temperature of the engine coolant, therefore opening and closing the valve. As amazing as it is there is no electronics involved.
Can i use it with bikes for oil. Im installing an oil cooler on my 72 cc bike and traditional oil cooler bypass thermostats are expensive. What if i make a housing for it and use it as a oil cooler thermostat bypass
Yesterday I discovered thermostat valve was removed from my vehicle by one of mechanic. It was working though, should I put new valve now or it is fine to go without? Pls suggest.
What about removing it completely from the engine, especially in hot coastal areas and the type of car is a Suzuki Every Cary 3 Piston? What is your advice, dear sir 🌹?
@@AfkhamAzeez i read all the comments looking for this answer. video lacks to show it. i didnt know it was wax. i thought it was some kind of a metal that expands up from a specific temprature and so makes a switch pops like in refrigeratos. thank you.
Step one, cold engine gets hot. wax in thermostat melts and thermostat opens letting more cold coolant from the radiator into engine. Step 2. Engine gets too cold, wax turns back to solid closing thermostat and recirculates coolant through the engine until it's hot enough to repeat step one. Except rather than a back and forth it's a balance at operating temperature
I am bit confused, i have a honda civic 1.8 and thermostat is installed and connected with the lower radiator hose, which sends coolant to the engine. Now coolant sent to engine is cooled one, so how would the thermo open when its cold? And hot coolant flows from engine to radiator via upper hose which doesnt have a thermo. Could someone help me understand.
Boss when u feel that the coolant is cool it means that ur thermostate has stopped working and soon ur car will heat up..there is no way that the passed coolant towards radiator is cool. The pipes are cold as are not able to receive the coolant from thermostate towards radiator.
Hi! I'm from Mexico and i study CAD. I wanted to know if there is a way to acquire the design of this thermostat. It's possible? Please 🙏 It is for working on it and develop other projects using Autodesk Inventor software. Excellent video!

ayus naman pala ito daming natutunana sa bagay na ito ayus pala
I couldn't read last explanation.. other upcoming videos are obstructing.Anyhow, Video is super
Thank you . I will update settings.
This video explains it PERFECTLY and it's easy to understand. 👍🏾
Is this the same for motorcycles?
No, this is concept made for easy to understand, work same but designs different according to use.
How does it know what the temperature is?

Heart vid. Helps a lot actually. Music?
what software did you use to make this super animation?
Autodesk 3dsmax and blender
@@EngineOn carryon it is great work. I will try it.
Very nice bro ❤❤❤❤
Thank you
Heat makes it expand and contract but how? What material? That is not explained.
Pressure I think.
@@phxrsx temperature, not pressure. A wax in the thermostat cylinder melts, pushing a rod out which causes the valve to open.
Thank you for explaining... 👍🏻
@@AfkhamAzeez thank you. I would have never guessed that it was a wax.

This type of animation need to be learned by other professionals.
Doesn’t say what’s going on therefore it’s useless

What the car used this ?
Every car manufacturer using this thermostat value but design is different..

Can we used as hot gun?
cant read what you put at the end because of your video lins
Thanks for feedback, i will update soon.
There are paraffin wax in it, when get hotter the wax melt and expand, pushing the rod.
Great work 👍
Thank you! Cheers!

What will happen if car running without thermostat?
Same effect as a thermostat that's stuck open. You won't get much heat in the car at idle.
I'm using car for sometime without thermo start, facing pick up issue and temperature not showing nd other issues
