      Thank you, Nicola. There always seems to be a lot of interesting stuff to see at these hides near Kaeng Krachan. I've been establishing some water pools on my land in Kanchanaburi and will be making some hides during the coming cool season. Curiously two pairs of blue-winged pittas made nests right next to our pools, and I'm about to go and see if I can get a bit of film of one of the pairs. As far as we know they are feeding five chicks!

      Yes. I do tend to ask the owners in advance and avoid days when they know they have other visitors, but even so I have been really fortunate, and have never had to share for more than a few minutes at any of the hides! I don't mind the company (fewer mosquitoes on me... ha ha)... the problem is the shutter noise with older cameras.

      Thank you very much.... I haven't been able to film much recently. It is the rainy season here, so it's difficult to get out.... very frustrating. I am in the forest now, but I'm working on my house in the west of Thailand. I set up a little area of land next to a national park that I have rewilded over the last 15 years... and am building a house and some wildlife hides here, but it is slow work.

      @@thailandwild4897 That is amazing! Slow and steady wins the race. I'm sure it will be well worth it! I really appreciate your love for nature and respect for wildlife! I'm just glad you're doing ok! I'm doing well here. Thanks for asking. I've just been busy this summer. Where I live, we only have 3-4 months of good weather, and the rest of the year is cold, and rather dark as day light hours change.

      So far, I have recorded Burmese hare, three species of civet, wild boar and even muntjac deer on my land, and on the hills adjacent to me we have two species of macaque. They are very shy of people, and I have never managed to see them, but from the description of my friends I would say we have stump-tailed macaque and I am guessing the others are long-tailed, although we also get Northern pig-tailed macaques in the neighbouring national park.

      @@thailandwild4897 Thats awesome! I have watched many of your videos. Not all yet. I plan too! There really are some interesting creatures there! I love seeing them. I love macaques of course but I also love all animals in general. I just see macaques being abused or interfered with the most on social media. That of which, I try to expose the issue. It's really rare and hard to find content on primates that aren't in a zoo or sanctuary where they're just living their best life. I could seriously watch them just groom all day. So long as the animals are happy and content. As well as watch other animals just doing their thing. I find the animals fascinating! It's so great that you know where to look in order to spot these animals!

      Yes, me too. In truth, I do tend to put in a full shift when I use a hide. I am not just after birds, and there have been a few instances when one of the small cat species has turned up at dusk - something I would love to see. Maybe one of these days!

    Hello there. I am a new subscriber and am thrilled upon viewing your videos. I have long been a bird watcher, although found you because of your primate films. Loved the White-Browed Dabblers. How lucky you were to see them. So many beautiful birds in that area. I am English, but live in the middle of cattle country, USA. My bird population is so very different. Sometimes thirty or more Turkey Vultures, roost in the tree outside my house. Have a nest of incredibly quick, bright yellow birds, which like the cherry tree right by my window. Also Eagles, Hawks and other unusual birds. My cousins in Wales, just returned from Thailand. I wish I had thought to send them to your hide area. Off now, to see what else you have been up to.

      Hello Elizabeth, welcome to Thailand Wild. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the content, and especially that you have joined me in the white-browed scimitar babbler fan club.... they are truly stunning, aren't they. I haven't been down to the bird hides near Kaeng Krachan for a couple of months now, but you may be interested to hear that I have been developing several wildlife pools and hides on my own conservation project in the West of Thailand and have also recorded scimitar babbler there as well as many other interesting wildlife species.... not only birds. Hopefully, I will be concentrating my filming from these hides during our dry season - November to April.

      Hey Gijs, great to hear from you, and thank you so much for your very enthusiastic comment. Yes, as you know, it is very easy to look like you love doing something when you really do love doing it. I enjoy working in hides, and these bird hides are really quite large and comfortable. I did spend 5 days in a tiny one-person hide under the blazing sun once, and that really was a test of my character, especially as neither tiger nor leopard turned up!! Perhaps you could get over to Thailand in the winter months and spend some time in these bird hides down at Kaeng Krachan. I'm sure you would have a great time.

    Lovely ! Is that the 60mm lens you’re using? Fantastic clarity. I’m in Southern California, only wished I can travel to Asian countries for birds photography. Recently I’ve been watching videos of a group of photographers from china, they cover all Asian countries including Vietnam, where I originally came from, couldn’t believe there are so many beautiful species of birds there. Happy photographing. From San Diego 👍🙏😊

      Thank you for your comment. The lens on the Sony A1 that I use for my main filming is the Sony 200-600mm zoom I film at 8K for maximum quality and exporting at 4K, which allows me to zoom into the image in editing without losing any quality. The behind the scenes shots that perhaps you are referring to are actually shot with an iPhone 11 on a small stand and blue tooth trigger. I never wanted an iPhone before, but the opportunity arose, and it is truly amazing for the behind-the-scenes shots.

      @@thailandwild4897 thanks for the info. BTW i meant was that 600mm not 60mm. Sony products are getting so good, zoom lens like your gives almost no distortion. I shoot with Canon 400mm and 600mm prime lenses, just too heavy to haul around. Enjoy your videos very much!

    • @thailandwild4897
      @thailandwild4897  4 месяца назад

      Thank you so much. Yes, of course those prime lenses must give wonderful still photos, but for video I need a zoom to get a variety of shots, and as you say, this 200-600 is very good, especially considering it's something like 10X cheaper than the Sony GM 600 prime lens. My feeling it that it is sharpest at the 600 end of the zoom, which is handy.

      It was absolutely incredible. I am making some hides like this on my reforestation land in the West of Thailand, and I filmed some of these babblers taking a bath there earlier in the year, but they were so shy. Imagine my surprise when this one kept looking in at the 'window' of the hide, and then eventually popped in. A really wonderful moment.
