Love this song! Played it at my husband's funeral in 2010. He died 5 days before his 41st Birthday. Never forgotten. Genuine Aussie bloke with a big heart and soul xo
How does this only have 123,795 views??? This song reminds me of very fond years I spent in Sydney and it is one of my favorite H&C songs (although there are many others too). I moved there from Dublin in 1990 with a friend and left in 93 with my wife to be. My kid will probably be sick of hearing the grand-old-day stories that I’ll tell him in years to come…. But that won’t stop me telling them. And I'll also be sure to let him hear the fantastic Oz music I heard while there.
Oh yeah music does that. Lots a memories with this song Reminds me of some ol bob Seeger songs too And another Aussie band : Paul Kelly and the messengers
I live in the UK and years ago watched Home and Away. I've never forgotten the scene where Shane dies, because of this wonderful song. Simply gorgeous.
@@lizringrose4279 The first 1700 (ish) episodes are available to watch on a site called daily motion. Rewatching them has certainly helped me get through the lockdowns.
Wow, what an absolutely powerful poem to being in love. This is just such a masterpiece of a song -- when many bands have trouble writing strong lyrics. Captivating, exhilarating, and very much standing the test of time, because so many other bands have discovered it and covered it. Bravo, Hunters & Colllectors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1of many of our Australian bands that our main towns & inbetween were addicted to. After I had 4 different lives, Australia, North Shore Hawaii, Huntington Bch CA, Thailand, I was so happy to land in Sydney, totally homesick. Now i am sick, but i am at home. :)
+detest logins know how you feel, its funny Iheard this sing a million times growing up in OZ but I have lived OS in three different places for extended periods and now I am in Lithuania for at least a year and watching this makes me so home sick. Such an awesome song, one of the best...But there is one I cannot get through without tears and I couldn't stand it back in Oz....that being True Blue.
well you now have 1, tell me the best time you had when you saw them..no matter how drunk...The Church brings me undone 40ppl there, so it was like they were playing just for me, my brother snuck me in :D
+rod lohrey Saw them at Selina's (where you would have seen them I guess...same complex but Coogee Bay Hotel was around the corner on Coogee Bay rd).....it was mid 80's....... I wasn't that much into them before that night but I lived just up the road so thought what the hell......was an instant fan after seeing them live
One of the best songs ever! I first heard this song when I liven in Australia back in 1990. Hunters and Collectors are a fantastic band and I was lucky enough to see them in concert in Sydney, and they were brilliant.
OMG! I think I'm in love! What a gorgeous voice! I really don't know who's better at this song now....Marc or Neill!!! OMG!! I think I'm gonna cry. How beautiful is this!?!? Crowded House and Hunters ROX DA HOUSE!!!! xxxx
You have to be kidding! I heard this on the car radio earier today and couldn't believe how flat this guy's singing was. It was like fingernails down the blackboard.. All I could think was that this song must've been recorded before they invented autotune.
I love this slow version in addition to the original. Mark Seymour's voice is so distinctive, I've always loved Hunters & Collectors and nice to hear this again after too long! I'll be digging the vinyls out this week and listening all over. Thanks.
Rock on Hunters! Rock on Mark! Fantastic Song! Want you to wrap your arms around MEEEE! Thanks guys. xx Thanks Tyronne for the download mate, great taste in music! xx
I love this song, brings back memeories for myself growing up in the 80's..I'm now 39 yrs old, I still love the older music as well as the new stuff...
Lived in Benalla, Vic for a few years and was introduced to the Australian 80s and 90s rock/pop scene. Yet another classic with Great lyrics and wonderful music!!!
Nice to see that in the 2.5 years since I uploaded this video, that it has had over 63,000 views and 100 comments. Good music is universal and transcends all man-made boundaries (though I bet most of the views/comments are from Aussies). I myself are from Canada and used to listen to this song a lot in high school. Anyway Viva to Mark Seymour for adding 1 more song to the vast collection of fantastic memorable songs that exist for our human consumption!
Yeah eh we were big hunters and collectors too Western Canada here. Paul Kelly and the messengers and also the hoodoo gurus more Aussie greats we liked And of course acdc and Oh and rose tattoo wow There's one more I'm missing. Was it weddings parties or anything n. Gotta google that lol cheers Utube music is the cats meow eh cheers
we lost a great man a long time ago craig thomas was his name good old port boy this was his parting song every time i hear it i think to myself what a genuine person he was a sole of the earth man never forgotten mate
This song has been covered by some excellent artists who were/are more than capable of writing their own songs. Among all the great songs written and recorded by Australian artists, this song is the one that has been most frequently covered by artists who were seriously good songwriters in their own right. I think that this qualifies Throw Your Arms Around Me as the best song written and recorded by an Australian musical act.
Sean Fegan wtf that was the shittest thing ive ever heard anyone say "stick to justin bieber" i wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy, just get in the grave already wud ya
Mark Seymour said this about the lyrics 'I was in a relationship with a woman I was very much in love with and she was the inspiration. I wrote virtually all the lyrics on Human Frailty about my relationship with her [...] Throw Your Arms Around Me was the first song I wrote that wasn't angry' I, like most people, relate to that; having been through some messy breakups. Those personal associations make this song an instant tear jerker.
Great song. I used to see this and thier talking to a stranger video on Canada's Much Music. Good ban live too - I saw them in Toronto. I would guess about 1986 on their Human Frailty tour.
I was going to be a real smartarse and reply by saying your comment contradicts itself but maturity slapped me and i continued to listen to the music, Have a great day :)
Many years ago, Aussie soap used this to back the sad death of one of its characters. Outside scenes are shot at Palm Beach in Sydney. Several years later, my family and I were in Sydney and we just pulled up at the site at Palm Beach where they film many scenes to that show. Then just at that moment, this song, this version came on the radio. Hell, was that spooky!!!
TehHatMan, if this is "crappy" then I would hate to have your friends! Break the mould, Start a trend, The eighties was a great decade, I lived through it all! love this version best... so sweet and sensual.
True, but what I'm saying is we can enjoy a song like this without bringing other stuff up. I do admit though, I'm 17 so of course I like stuff from this day too, but I love all music haha! :)
Love this song! Played it at my husband's funeral in 2010. He died 5 days before his 41st Birthday.
Never forgotten. Genuine Aussie bloke with a big heart and soul xo
Very sorry for your loss - wouldn't have been a dry eye in the house
Yourgoingtohear meroar Oh yeah great pick and sad for you Reminds me of those have passed and to appreciate
So sad to lose someone so young, my heart goes out to you.
The song says everything you needed to, it's a beautiful goodbye. Heart felt sympathies having been through same.
My daughter had this song on her wedding day have loved ot ever since at 74 still love all the old songs.
Kiwi living in Australia for 15 years loved it for decades both sides of the Tasman!!!

It’s now 1:3m…and rightly so
An Aussie girlfriend chose this as our song. She's gone now but I still have this song (sad I know!) 😀 great track!
The line 'we may never meet again' gets me everytime. Great song, a classic
It's funny how lines do that, huh? The following one--so shed your skin and lets get started--does it to me ;)
This song was sang at my mum and dad's wedding... I am crying... I love this song... I am thinking about...things...
Thats awesome! Respect to yr mum & dad :)
Oh yeah music does that. Lots a memories with this song Reminds me of some ol bob Seeger songs too And another Aussie band : Paul Kelly and the messengers
As far as I know, an Australian band. Mark Seymour was born in Benalla, Vic. One of the best bands ever.
Yeah, he's from Benalla. They made their name playing pub gigs on Mt. Buller
And pub gigs everywhere
Love to Australia from California!
I live in the UK and years ago watched Home and Away. I've never forgotten the scene where Shane dies, because of this wonderful song. Simply gorgeous.
It was played in a lot in H&A episodes from 1991 too. Scenes with Blake & Rachael.
@@benpsmith77 Was Rachael the girl who died on the beach in his arms?
@@lizringrose4279 No, that was Meg. She arrived about a year later. Rachel wasn't in it very long. She went to live in the city with her mum.
@@benpsmith77 OK, thank you. It's many years since I've seen it now. I bet i wouldn't recognise any of the characters. :-)

It's a song about 1 night stand!!
Going to be my wedding song next month. Love the live version as well
A monumental song in this life of mine Epic moment today I found the 7 inch vinyl Hallelujah
I believe this was the first song ever to address the concept of a "One night stand"...
Honest..raw...tender...I will never tire of it..
That never crossed my mind. When I read your comment, I thought, "I'm so dense! How did I miss that?" Lol.
Mark Seymour also said it’s about time is short let’s get on with it. So true
Honest..raw...tender...I will never tire of it..

so shed your skin and let's get started. are you going to be an organ donor? i am. unless i die when i'm 60 or something.
I really don't think music like this is aimed at you. Stick to Justin Bieber and do us all a favour, eh?
