You should see my john deere stx38. Mine has a 13hp kohler. Absolutely the best motor in my opinion. I did roughly the same on mine. I built a back rack and a front bumper on mine. Removed by deck. And I ride mine back and forth to town. It's about 6 miles round trip. Never had an issue one. I love my old JDstx38
