Yes. I think this might have been a pass from the Drifters and John Schroeder produced it like an Atlantic record anyway. Oops, of course, it's a Phil Spector record.
My dear mother played this when I was boy while she done house work on a old record player crackling away dinner on the go, the smell of furniture polish and fly spray, the bastards flies she called them, miss you mum❤️
Phil Spector and his Wall of Sound produced signature, emotional creations like this, utilizing Pitney's superb falsetto. This was my favorite from Gene. Others: Half Heaven, Half Heartache, Looking Through the Eyes of Love, Mecca, I'm Gonna Be Strong, True Love Never Runs Smooth. Early 1960s - greatest pop music mini-period in my memory, and my high school years.
He was a God when I was in HS, and I have loved "him with every breath I take!" What a glorious heavenly voice! I & my best friend, (also maid of honor,) got to see him in person, and he told the audience his favorite composition, (song) was "24 Hours From Tulsa!!" What an amazing time in my life!! Nothing but LOVE & LYRICS!! ❤❤❤🤗🤗
Gene Pitney was way before his time other artists back in the '60s couldn't do hardly anything like him. He was a genius a talented songwriter musician composer you name it he could do it. Sadly he left us way too early He was in his early '60s truly one great musician... He has loads of hits but this one here I believe is my absolute favorite by him...
Whatever you feel about today's news and the passing of Phil Spector, this song was an excellent example of a sign of things to come and a fantastic Pitney song,
World Day of Music - June 21, 2024 (and also a chance to pay trubute to my late sister on her birthday*): My sister Joan and I would 'cruise' for hours listening to our fave music, which seemed to dovetail...Gene Pitney, Roy Orbison, Jerry Butler, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Aretha Franklin, etc
The great Gene Pitney. His singing voice grabbed me the first time I heard him sing . "Every breath I take", I played over and over. Gene 's vocalization and instrumentation for the 60's were unique to his style of singing. The message in his songs made one feel the love or heartbreak going back to great days of rock & roll.
I was only 2 in 1962 and iv only just discovered this music and 💘 love this music and 💘 love Gene Pitney and his lovely voice too.Im now 62 years old.Rest in peace lovely man
Saw Gene Pitney at The Fiesta Club, Stockton on Tees when Night Clubs were plush places and a lively night out in the mid to late 60's. What a powerful voice he had.
@@brendakempf2869 Gene must have liked our club because he came back a few times, I think I saw him twice. A lovely man who sounded just like his records including that final soaring note at the end of 'I'm Gonna Be Strong'. Made your hair stand on end!!
Correction: it was Club Fiesta (not The Fiesta Club). How could I have forgotten - it's only 5 decades ago!! Also saw Dusty & Ben E. King and a few other big names. Wonderful memories.
What the hell just happen to me ? I was born in 90 but stuck in the classic rhtym world ... damn .. from bottom of my heart i really love classic ryhtm ...
Absolutely no one. They are all scared to even try. Ever wonder why you rarely hear a cover of Roy Orbison? No one can hit the high notes. Same with Pitney.
Fabulous !!! I recommend every Pitney fan to watch the concert he did in Italy. You're going to see a Gene we didn't see here in the States. Trust me on this one, it blew me away !!!
I love Gene's voice but here he sounds "odd" to my ear- like he's trying to warble like Buddy Holly and throw in some Roy Orbison "falsetto" - I obviously don't listen to him enough. He can make me cry, "move mountains" - sorry, not a Gene Top 10- Namaste
This is perhaps the most amazing vocal performance of the rock era. Simply stunning.
Yes. I think this might have been a pass from the Drifters and John Schroeder produced it like an Atlantic record anyway. Oops, of course, it's a Phil Spector record.
Du hast recht
Phil Spector erkennt man sofort
Gene Pitney had such a great voice and unique style. Kids today don't have a clue about such a great talent that was Gene Pitney.
You are 100 % right....
I’m 33 I grew up listening to gene and a bunch of other great artists
Today’s pop music is computerised junk😂
And such a lovely person, so good to his fans.
His voice still gives me chills. Love it even after all these years. Truly an artist.
My dear mother played this when I was boy while she done house work on a old record player crackling away dinner on the go, the smell of furniture polish and fly spray, the bastards flies she called them, miss you mum❤️
That certainly was a Wonderful moment ... watching her clean the house, with such a Great song and voice !
Unforgettable indeed !
Saw gene a couple of times and he never disappointed me.such a marvellous unique voice
.RIP Gene,you’ll be sorely missed

Heavenly..the singing the violin and everything involved in this song...PLUS Gene Pitney!!
One of Phil Spectors’ great produced songs with that unmistakable wall sound.

A MASTERPIECE in vocal, instrumentation, production, arrangement, and visuals.
You can thank Phil Spector for the musical arrangement. The man is crazy, but still a musical genius.
Certainly. A match-up made in musical heaven.
Superb vocal from Gene & arrangement by Phil Spectre!!!👍🤗

A true legend. Had the pleasure of seeing him in concert once. A truly unique voice. Much missed.
My and my Mummy's Song 💙
Maybe Gene Pitney's greatest, and possibly one of the greatest doo wop hits of that era.
Christmas 1970 - Gene Pitney's Greatest Hits & Righteous Brothers's Greatest Hits (plus others). BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!
I was only 2 in 1962 and iv only just discovered this music and 💘 love this music and 💘 love Gene Pitney and his lovely voice too.Im now 62 years old.Rest in peace lovely man
Awesome thanks fab singer ever 💘 💘 this song thank you time light picture a
I'm surprised nobody has sampled that beat for some hip hop. At least I haven't found it yet.
Saw Gene Pitney at The Fiesta Club, Stockton on Tees when Night Clubs were plush places and a lively night out in the mid to late 60's. What a powerful voice he had.
Saw him in N.Zealand early 90s, he was as good live as he was on record!
You were very fortunate. I would have given anything to have seen Gene Pitney in person.

I would love to see the orchestra working as Gene sang this outstanding piece.

You developed a sense of good music!
Sweetheart it just means you have excellent taste in music OR you're an old soul who has excellent taste in music. :o)
It's same way with me concerning HRH the CHRIST
I'm 74 loved hi. All my life
I'm a senior citizen and I've never heard such a unique & beautiful voice as his!
Whatever else you might think, many artists of that era (Tina Turner comes to mind) owe their success to the genius that was Phil Spector!-)
you did a great job here, he fits with the golden hollywood era well
The last few verses, woo hoo, I would like to know who could do that now...
Absolutely no one. They are all scared to even try. Ever wonder why you rarely hear a cover of Roy Orbison? No one can hit the high notes. Same with Pitney.

Carole King wrote this great song
I can name almost all the films from which those clips were taken-but I have the advantage of being sixty-five years old.
Wow, thank you for this awesome video. The most beautiful men and women from good old hollywood and the voice of Gene Pitney. Fantastic
Das Lied, der Song ist super👍🙂. Aber das Video mit einem Knutschibutschi/Gemümmel nach dem anderen ist widerlich !! 👎🤢🤮

❤
Love is abounding
3 bridges in the song was just enough
💯👍
Magnificent !!!!!!
A sua voz aguda, inalterável, o seu carisma, o seu repertório de perfeitas melodias, tornaram Gene Pitney imortal.
The. Halos. Are. Great to
The HALOS had a hit of their own called NAG. Probably the answer to the hit MOTHER IN LAW by Ernie K DOE
Put this video in a rocket and send it out into another galaxy to show aliens what it is to be a human. Gene “the hit maker” Pitney
