Foriegn workers there too are GENERALLY very successful. Qtr has 2 million of those. From the lower levels to the top. The whole seats to the new stadiums are made by a company of a migrant, and the head of ICT for the 22 world cup is also a migrant. These are just two examples among many.

Almost all FIFA 2022 projects in Qatar were awarded and executed by Western companies, who recruited migrant workers. Unfortunately, Western governments lobbied very hard to push Qatar not to change workers' policies but to award the projects to their own companies. If we really care about Migrant workers' right, maybe we should boycott all western companies that participated in 2022 projects. Also, we may replace the governments that lobbied Qatar to award their companies these projects.

I am an expat living in Qatar for 8 years now, and worked mostly in admin of companies. Most companies that I worked with are construction and real estate, and yes there are many european and western companies, and also asian and indian companies. I also worked with a chinese construction company for the highways, an american school, and a qatari owned company. Here it's a mix of different large companies of different countries that worked together and partnered with qatar for Fifa and Qatar development as a whole. So it really depends on each company whether or not they follow labor laws, and many have already been through legal cases and granted their workers what they are due. I have many friends who have won cases against their companies, and they were given their pay, some are still waiting for their company to pay them, but the law is strict. The past years we saw a large change in labor laws, and qatar also became much more welcoming. Well this is from what I have seen and experienced here so far regarding labor laws and companies. The past few years during the pandemic saw a decrease in employment and companies closing due to lockdowns.. But by the grace of God, qatar is getting back on its foot.

In the beginning i thought vilifying Qatar was based on enforcing Qatar to accept lbgtq movement or usa was disgruntled that their bid for world cup in 2022 was awarded to Qatar hence why FBI involved indicting Fifa executives in Africa and latin America , but i found out that it was diversion tactics on Qatar to signing a american memorandum of understanding . Eventually Qatar signed a yet another deal with USA in Doha yesterday. Could the deal be revisiting the Gas pipeline deal, which destroyed Syria or Qatar sabotaging opec organisation. Perhaps accepting Israeli Abraham accord. It could be many things, Which i dont know. But i know western media is always aligning with western geopolitical agenda and always uses their media to use "agenda setting theory " to get their western alliance some sort of neo-colonial deal put in place.

I've lived in Dubai for several years and I can kind of agree to most parts what they're saying. Thing is that a lot of us Europeans/Westerns live in a bubble. Yes, salary is great, I can't deny that. But we are also treated better than most Asian/African workers...people in their bubbles seem to forget that. It was always so refreshing to leave the country every now and then to clear your mind, see the "real world". Kept myself grounded. I did also go and see some of those places where the Asian/African migranter workers lived. It was utterly disgusting. That reminded myself that everything is not good. So I do think that western media has all the rights to question those things. When it comes to women and safety etc, that I don't agree what Western media is writing. It was super safe all over the Gulf. I have never felt so safe than there to leave my door unlocked or bags unattended on the beach.

These guys feel this way because they’ve never been to the industrial area where all the workers are walled in and not allowed to live anywhere else so that the rest of the world can’t see. It’s so obvious what Qatar is trying to do, they halted work on the metro stations leading to industrial area. Everyone is looking for a reason to disprove it because they don’t want to believe that bad things happen and that they are supporting it by going to or watching the world cup. I’m not saying don’t watch the world cup or to feel guilty about going, but I don’t think its fair to ignore the truth.
