At COP27, public- and private-sector leaders united in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. Egypt under President al-Sisi’s government has been experiencing one of its worst human rights crises in many decades. Tens of thousands of government critics, including journalists, peaceful activists, and human rights defenders, remain imprisoned on abusive “terrorism” charges, many in lengthy pretrial detention. Authorities harass and detain relatives of dissidents abroad. Egyptian authorities continue to deny basic human rights to the country's human rights defenders, political activists, and ordinary citizens, while Egypt's international partners do far too little to press for change while continuing to provide military assistance.

I've lived in Dubai for several years and I can kind of agree to most parts what they're saying. Thing is that a lot of us Europeans/Westerns live in a bubble. Yes, salary is great, I can't deny that. But we are also treated better than most Asian/African workers...people in their bubbles seem to forget that. It was always so refreshing to leave the country every now and then to clear your mind, see the "real world". Kept myself grounded. I did also go and see some of those places where the Asian/African migranter workers lived. It was utterly disgusting. That reminded myself that everything is not good. So I do think that western media has all the rights to question those things. When it comes to women and safety etc, that I don't agree what Western media is writing. It was super safe all over the Gulf. I have never felt so safe than there to leave my door unlocked or bags unattended on the beach.

In a nutshell, just mere assumption
This is a well thought out theory and I wouldn’t put it past them if it was true. In fact it’s quite plausible to assume this given the nature of American/western politics and the close ties of the MSM to push narratives. These are generally discussed in advance during bilderberg meetings or the Davos forums.
Authorities harass and detain relatives of dissidents abroad.

human rights to the

too little to press for change

"We've given them development, we let them host" WOW just wow. I thought western people were educated.
I think everyone needs to look at the bright side. People from different cultures got to go to Qatar and learn how to have fun without intoxication, date raping or violating each other's rectums.

Most of the migrant workers has only good things to say.

Naive in the extreme.
It's fair to assume she's not an Indian construction worker.
The British attitude generally is 'as long as those who survive when we kill millions in illegal wars don't come to Britain as migrants and refugees,' we can feel great about hosting sports events.

They come to our country to respect our rules we should respect theirs
