Palestine has never been a country though. It's only ever been a regional descriptor which is why it also included parts of southern Lebanon, Jordan and parts of south-western Syria. There's never been a Palestinian govt, parliament, head of state, agreed borders, legal system etc etc etc.
Don't misunderstand me, I am not an advocate of Israeli occupation, it must end. But Palestine has never been a country ever since the Romans called the area Syria Palaestina. It has only ever been a region, province, vilayet, mandate etc. Never a country.
