The data sheet for a CD4040B ripple-carry binary counter states that the inputs and outputs are buffered. Does this mean it doesn't suffer from the asynchronous 'glitch' during the stages transitions? I would like to use a parallel to serial register to read all the stages of the counter simultaneously and was wondering whether the buffering in this counter would cause the output state of all stages to be synchronised (making it more reliable to read). I know the cumulative propagation delay of so many stages could be significant but that's not a problem for my application. Thanks for the excellent videos.
