Try T flip flops with clear. Connect your AND gate decoder to its outputs. Use another T flip flop with clear to reset the flip flops of your counter by connecting its output to their clear inputs. You will need two , two input AND gates as well. One input of each is connected to the clock which is also connected to the input of toggle flip flop one of the counter. Next connect decoder AND gate zero's output to the other input of one of the two input AND gates. Connect its output to the the clear input of the T flip flop you use to reset the counter. To select which count you want to be the counters highest count connect the output of the decoder AND gate that decodes that count the the other input of the second two input AND gate. Its output is connected to the input of the T flip flop you used to reset the counter. The circuit counts from zero to the selected count then starts counting from zero again etc. Of course you will have to connect the elements of the circuit as I connected them using relay logic or its equivalent IC circuit. View my Facebook page to see the counter circuit videos by typing Mark Finn Sonora CA in the search box while on Facebook. My RS flip flop and T flip flop circuits are different than those I have seen on the internet. Email me at markallenfinn26@gmail.com and I'll give you the goods (slang for all the information needed) (in this case how to connect the circuits).
